For a team that’s never finished top 6 post spilt, they have a lot to say.

They might just do it this year.

Might… as you say, they invariably bottle it.

You’d think for all their condescending talk and hubris about what a fantastic season they’re having/how terrible ours is that they’d be more than 1 (*one*) point ahead of us.

Just wondering, how many of Aberdeen's league games this season have ended with 11 v 11 ?

For balance, I'm also wondering how many of St Mirren's league games have ended 11 v 11 ?

Red card mania. Surely VAR has to be the catalyst.

There’s been a sending off in six of our 24 league games this season (including all three Aberdeen vs St Mirren games) but I think Wednesday may have been our first one awarded via VAR (I think Stewart’s in Paisley was awarded by the ref with the penalty given via VAR).

We also had a sending off in the league cup semi so that’s 4 in the 11 games post-WC.

From a quick check 9/23 of St Mirren’s league games have had a red card awarded during them but no idea how many what VAR involved.

It's not "offensive", I don't think anyone thinks it's offensive, but it is insulting, to quite a considerable degree.  Let's be entirely clear, if Aberdeen won that match he would have said nothing about the Ex-Aberdeen players, his comment is nothing but sour grapes, clumsy or otherwise.

He should be rightly pilloried for his words, which, as a private individual would be fine, but someone on a national broadcasting service, and by definition is being paid (albeit indirectly) by our taxes, the level of professionalism should be much much higher than the benchmark Miller set.

    That’s clearly bollocks though.

When we beat you 4-1 in the first game of the season - which was effectively decided by a first half sending off like all the games between us this season - all the conversation post-match from Miller and others was about what a horrific game Declan Gallagher had had and that type of performance was why he wasn’t at Aberdeen.

Likewise, the same game Curtis Main was ineffective and got hooked two mins into the second half. It wasn’t sour grapes or inaccurate to point out their performances that day reflected why they’d been released/rejected.

The fact St. Mirren are currently four points above us in the table doesn’t change the fact both players were on the whole abysmal for Aberdeen (Gallagher moreso than Main in fairness). Releasing them was and remains 100% the correct decision.

He couldn’t be any worse than Coulson.

I have always felt Scales is a left back playing at centre back and McKenzie looks like a centre back playing at left back. Would be tempted to switch them round.

Although he’d be ok defensively at LB, I don’t think Scales is quick or agile enough to be that effective attacking wise from LB. He’d probably be ok against a number of teams in this league though.

Overall, despite the post-WC shambles, we’re still only three points off fourth (although Livi and St Mirren have a game in hand). Given every team from fourth down has been varying shades of shit this season and I’d say our squad is the strongest - defence aside - out of the four teams looking at top six (Livi, Hibs St Mirren and us), we’re still in a strong position to get Europe.

From what I've seen of him, which is 12 months out of date now tbh, yes. He was a properly aggressive lump of a CB who was willing to diving header things away from players feet. Quick and strong too so could match most attackers.

Genuinely thought he'd get a chance at Watford and unsure why he hasn't.

Quick browse of Twitter has their fans suggesting he’s slow on the turn and lacking agility though decent defensively and in the air.

Whatever he is, having more than two CB’s is an immediate improvement.

Goodwin arrived with big ideas of being the main man, unafraid of making the big calls whilst decimating the squad of Stephen Glass, however, as I said at the time, the true test was how quickly he addressed defincies in his own squad. Unforunately for him, he seemed blind to them.

I'm devoid of any sympathy for Goodwin. He received an opportunity, albeit undeserved, of making a name for himself at a big, relatively speaking, club in Scotland and it looks like he messed it up by coming across too strong too soon.

You need to earn the right in any workplace to be respected from your actual actions and results not just words. That seems to be particularly necessary in a football dressing room.

If he had built a strong backroom staff with assistants who offered advice and sometimes unwated advive when needed but his main sidekick Sharp looked a timid yes man, if he had stood back and assessed the squad that he was inherting properly, including Scott Brown, before making any decisions on who he wanted to keep and who he didn't, if he had kept the inherited squad happy and gave them a fresh slate so he could push for an early success by getting European football last season before starting the cull then all of these things would've gained him respect and maybe bought him time to settle into the biggest job of his career.

However, he didn't, he wanted to run before he could walk and he wanted to do it all himself.

Therefore, when I saw him shuffle alone across the Easter Road turf and out a side door, I thought it a fitting exit for the man who thought he knew best.

Yep, when he came in and jettisoned Scott Brown (not saying this was the wrong decision), he said something along the lines that he is a control freak and had no use for other coaches other than his assistant at the club as he wanted to do everything himself.

It’s clear that the Aberdeen job is far too big for a relatively Inexperienced manager to try and run everything effectively through one person as Goodwin tried to do (especially given the ineptitude of the other footballing structure) and likely contributed to the excessive number of fall-outs he had with players.

I’m pleased we’re already looking to address this by appointing an experienced coach like Agnew to assist Robson for the interim period - you feel that’s exactly the sort of assistant Glass could have done with.

Agree with the part about not enjoying things getting like this but Goodwin has displayed a remarkable amount of arrogance/stubbornness in his time with us that did him no favours with the support.

I understand the criticism Cormack is getting but I genuinely think he gives a shit and isn't just there for his ego. I think he realises now that things are going to have to be done differently off the pitch, fingers crossed we can get the right people in. I hope he has also spoken to Mr Blank about giving us a transfer budget boost as we most definitely need it.

It’s all fairly unpleasant and ugly how this has ended, however, Goodwin should have resigned prior to yesterday so can’t say I’ve too much sympathy.

I do wish him well moving forward as he comes across as a decent bloke, but it’s been clear for a while the job is too big for him and think his career will be better served by bringing in a number 2 who isn’t an absolute charlatan.

How long is Roos out for? I’ve managed to miss the details regarding his injury.

The amount of loan players we have is quite a concern and has been all season. For me, we should only be loaning in players if they are significantly better than what we’d be able to attract permanently or as emergency cover. The likes of Scales and Coulson are nowhere near good enough (nevermind going into the merits of loaning players from either of those two) while Clarkson and Coulson are utter shitebags who clearly don’t fancy any sort of fight.

Their whole story is pretty weird

"Macclesfield Town" went bust and "Macclesfield FC" is the phoenix/newco club which started in the "North West Counties Football League Premier Division" last season and are now in Division One West, still four promotions away from the Football League. They're pulling in attendances similar to a Partick Thistle or Livingston in a league where normal teams are more like Elgin City and are unsurprisingly comfortable clear at the top of the table.

I notice Macclesfield FC don’t appear to be claiming to be the same club…

However, Robbie Savage is their director of football so I hope they miss out on promotion in an agonising and hilarious manner.

  10. Stewart’s a moron.

Just give the sensible, vague answer of “both are good players with different strengths and weaknesses” etc.

No point providing any extra motivation to them or any other team, especially if you’re as much of a bombscare as Stewart is.

Can’t say I’m feeling confident about this one.

The post match interviews he gave yesterday just looked like someone actively trying to get a pay off. He took shots at his bosses and most of his playing squad. It’s Terry Butcher style man management and I’m shocked he’s not been sacked yet.

He was quite happy to take credit for the recruitment in the summer when we signed these players but he’s somewhat changed his tune now. Funny that!

We’ve two huge games coming up in terms of relegation and if we let him continue I can only see it going one way.

He probably had a stinking hangover.

That was better but still utter dung.

I can't understand playing an out and out striker in midfield when we've plenty of attacking midfield options. Our set pieces were a complete waste of time and we looked panicked defending our own box again.

If we stick with Goodwin we're going to be in the mix with six other teams again and Europe or top six will be a lottery.

Trying to abuse the headknock rule to stop breaks is pretty low. The number of times it happened, it has to be an instruction.

The formation/substitutions came across as a hopeful throw of the dice rather than having any coherent strategy or thought behind it. Although both Miovski and Ramirez were poor, taking both off meant we had nobody in the box when we got in promising positions out wide given Duk likes to roam the pitch. This made even less sense given we’d brought on two wingers.

County were clearly content from half time with just a point and defended well but we didn’t create ever look capable of breaking them down.

Ramadani was very good, and despite his corners and a lot of the stick he seems to be getting, I thought Kennedy played well.

I’m just genuinely interested in who you think could turn the fortunes around. Sorry. I’m not having a go.

I just don’t see any candidates up and coming in our domestic leagues to make progress with arguably Scotlands third biggest club.

The easy option would be Robinson from St Mirren. A bigger “risk” would be Martindale. I think he has done an incredible job with Livingston.

Aside from them who else could you realistically go after?

We shouldn’t be hiring domestically next as there are no particularly promising candidates there.

Likewise, we shouldn’t have hired our current manager domestically given there were no particularly great candidates but it is what it is.

I find it incredible that we have lost 10 out of 19 games and we are sitting 4th.

Agreed, I thought we’d need a minimum of 7/12 points from the previous four games to remain in strong contention for third place so to gain zero and still (just about) remain 4th is incredible.

By my reckoning, Glass had us on 24 points in seventh place after 19 games last season.
