We are where we should be because we failed to win games of football. Years of mismanagement drove us to here and it is only the last 18 months that has seen us on an upward curve. We have no divine right to be anywhere.

No one is talking about divine rights though….but there are realistic expectations. Do Barcelona have a realistic expectation to be in La Liga?

Falkirk in The Championship is something I would describe as a level we should be at, minimum (though the leagues are so small that this is now harder to gauge).

Feels like there's actually a point to going up with this squad. Because it will be very very competitive in the Championship.

We could conceivably have scraped up one of these last few seasons but done so knowing we needed 10 new players in the summer

We already have a squad if we can keep it that will challenge for the playoffs in the league above us.

This was kinda my point earlier before I got roundly red dotted. This squad is good and with a bit of luck we’ll keep the nucleus of it if we go up next season. I am enjoying the games, the connection between the club and fans is back too which is fantastic. I’m just not getting carried away in L2 (though 0 losses and an 80% win rate is a fantastic achievement by all involved).

    f**k this pish.

I’ve been going since 1978 and the last few seasons have been the lowest I’ve probably felt as a Falkirk Bairn.

We just beat Cove and the greasy, little w****r 4-0 and are 11 points clear of a pretty good Hamilton side.

We’ve a very winnable semi final coming up as well as a very winnable Scottish cup tie.

I’m getting carried away and I’m making no apologies for it.

Come off it, this is surely just front. We’re in the third tier for goodness sake, a pretty weak one at that. It’s enjoyable but carried away, time to set your bar a bit higher imo.

Please refer to my post from yesterday...

I don't think anyone should get carried away but talking about a scenario that didn't happen in the midst of a 25 game unbeaten run just after you've beaten a - distant - rival 4-0 is an odd choice.

Yeah, there’s keeping your feet firmly on the ground….then there’s this.

We've put on some decent shows for the home fans of late, but just ONCE in recent times, when the away fans turn out in accordance with the importance of the game, I'd love to see us turn in a proper, lay a marker down performance.

We saw 1 cracker in the first game at EEP last season but even then couldn't turn it into 3 points. Other than that, let downs.

Desperately want us to go through there and grab the league by the scruff of the neck and make it clear that we are going to keep on winning.

Airdrie away last year in February/March felt like a marker at the time but yeah, slim pickings otherwise over the years.

One thing that annoyed me today (aside from the worst refereeing performance I've seen) was in the dying embers of the game we kept going for a third instead of just taking it to the corners.

I slightly disagree with this. There was a spell of 1-2 minutes where we played in the corner but it was far too early to do that (maybe 7-8 minutes go) then we went back to being open again.

We weren’t great today but still well with the win imo. Jordan Allan so unlucky not to make it 3 late on but that just sums up his Falkirk career.

Can only echo the comments about the ref. A genuinely horrific display. You get games where it seems like the 50/50 decisions don’t go your way etc.. it happens but that today was something else. The yellow early on to Lang was absolutely fair but the rest were horrendous. Ethan Ross especially I don’t know how you could consider it a foul never mind a booking. The MacIver incident was truly baffling as well and this is where the fat Tory p***k should have been speaking to the ref. There was clear and obvious contact. If the ref didn’t feel enough contact for him to go down I can accept that, but disagree, but to book MacIver for diving was baffling.

On the game we started well enough without creating too much but the non penalty award seemed to really spark us into life. Really good play from Yeats to keep the ball in play at the back post lovely flick from MacIver and nicely finished by Nesbitt. Thought we had another good penalty shout for hanball before half time as well.

Second half we were very slowly to get into the game and fair play to Kelty who really started taking the game to us. Bavidge putting a really good chance just past the post before he manage to score. No real surprise that both the chances came down our right hand side. Morrison wasn’t in the game at all and Yeats done really well for both our goals but defensively so poor. He went far too right in the middle of the park got turned extremely easily and left a massive gap for them to attack.

Lovely move again for the winner. Nesbitt I’m sure holding the ball up and played in Yeats with a nice ball smashed across goal and great header from MacIver.

More average or passable performances than many playing really well but Donaldson would’ve been my MoM.

Just on the subs look at the difference in impact Ross had compared to Alfie. Thought Ross was great when he came on in both positions. Good with the ball, really positive and taking players on and beating them. Alfie was rank again. The last 5 or 6 games he’s come off the bench he’s either not got into the game at all or simply offers nothing. He was such a good option for us at the start of the season but his form is well off that at the moment.

The bollocking McGinn gave him before the end of the game was something else, real vein bulging stuff.

I think it’s a mark of how far we’ve come this season that we’re bemoaning a draw at Montrose. For me that was a tricky fixture and good we took something from the game. I’ve been trying to find the league table for the same point last year after 14 games to compare performance against last seasons runaway winners. I am sure we are on a par (no pun intended🙄) or indeed better. I know some will say Hamilton best Montrose 3-0 up there but it’s swings and roundabouts for me.

This is still hard to take for much of our fanbase.

The games up to the new year will be a huge deciding factor on our season. Maybe the only supporter that feels like the draw against the Montrose last night feels like we’re repeating last years bridesmaid mode.

I hope we don’t start drifting….picking up 3 points against the weaker sides and then coming away with draws (with a possible defeat or two) against our rivals. Big game on Saturday against a dangerous opponent, time to hit our stride again.

Yeh played as Centre Half in just over 90% of matches after that first season.

I was more referring to his first spell at the club and league games. He was a mixture of positions in 90/91, wasn’t an ever present 91/92 (all at centre back), played about a 1/4 of games in 92/93, 2/3 thirds in 93/94 but was put in midfield after his lay-off as there was a settled back line before moving to CB and in 94/95 player under half of the games.

So many great players, so many different styles, so many eras.

But George Miller is my pick for the center half and would be my captain as well.

How did he manage 14 goals in 35 games in season 69/70? Phenomenal for a defender!

Apart from my favourite Falkirk player of all time, Scott McKenzie, 1991-2000 and then 2003-2005, over 300 appearances and was one of those unsung heroes that always put a shift in and could be relied upon. His Mum died the week of the 97 cup final and he still played, loved the guy.

Yeah, how could I forget this guy. Took him a while to get in the team, a bit longer still to win over the fans then was involved in seasons where we fell foul of decisions which kept us out of the top flight (potentially). A great team player.

Wonder if Oliver is still.fuming about the cup final goal.... I know I am.

It’s a pity that this is what he is mostly known for during his time at the club. He did have periods where he didn’t play much but in many ways he was Mr Falkirk of the 90’s, he was there from 91’-99’. No one else came close to this during that time.

He only really played midfield in his first season at the club from them on he was predominantly a centrehalf. So approx 30 games in midfield and over 200 as centrehalf. Not sure where your getting the 25 percent from

Okay, here we go. In 92/93 he played 16 league games, 3 of which were in midfield as McLaughlin and Duffy were the centre half pairing at that point (the season Hughes, McLaughlin and Baptie had SIX long injury lay-offs between them).

93/94 he played 28 (1) out of 44 (another long injury lay-off at the start of the season) When he came  back the centre half pairing was McLaughlin and Weir, with Duffy at right back so at this point he was put into midfield for about 12-14 games. He was eventually put into centre half for the run-in for that title-winning season.

94/95 he pretty much missed the first half of the season, had to come off the bench a few times, a little bit at full-back before, again, reclaiming his place at centre half  in the run-in.
