  1. Well done to Broxburn in winning the Championship. It looked their trophy a long way from home, and ultimately a success fully deserved!

Overall, disappointing seasons for Sauchie,  Jeanfield and Musselburgh. The latter probably have the biggest budget in the league, yet celebrate 2nd in the league tonight as a victory, yet the remit was undoubtedly a league win!

    St Andrews 0 Kirkcaldy 3

Deeply disappointing day. The game was over by halftime as a goalkeeping error and a deflected shot helped the away team to a surprise three goal lead at the break.

Saints still in the box seat but will need a big improvement in their next league game at Newtongrange.

As for the Star they drop another two points and their best chance of promotion appears to lie with Gretna and Broxburn.

Dunipace are on the edge of promotion. They might have done enough already but one win will secure a well deserved Premier league place.

"Star drop another 2 points", or Star gained a point against a rejuvenated Leith side unbeaten at home since November!!!

St Andrews are in the driving seat, no doubt, but you appear inconsistent of late. Look forward to seeing you at Nitten next week! 🌟

That’s why I’m discounting them. All five of their remaining games are against teams in the top 7 with tricky visits to Leith and Blackburn to come.

Realistically Star are going to need to win at least four of those five. Difficult.

    So it's in Nitten's hands then? 👍🏻

They are bang in there with a chance. I think it’s a straight shootout between Camelon and Whitburn for the third promotion spot.

Nitten still have to play Dunipace, Whitburn & St Andrews (2 of them at home) so i wouldn't discount them yet. 2 defeats in 20 odd games, maybe just a dip in the last 2.

Another excellent win for the Pace yesterday, could have been more comfortable had we taken our chances, some poor finishing and an excellent performance from the Nitten keeper kept it at one.

Pace started really well, made a number of good chances but couldn’t convert, Nitten took hold of the game for a 15/20 min spell in the first half and had two really good chances that they couldn’t take has the first half ended Kemp really should have scored from a header but half time came with no score.

I thought the Pace played better in the second half pinning Nitten back, a penalty was awarded for a clumsy tackle in the box, looked a stonewall pen, and Kelly stepped up to take what turned out to be a poor strike that was well saved by the Nitten keeper.

The attacks kept coming and eventually Kelly scored what was probably his hardest chance of the game cutting inside from the left and smashing a low shot from 20 yards passed the excellent Nitten keeper.

Nitten made one clear chance in the second half where a long ball to the back post found the head of an attacker who probably should have at least hit the target, they huffed and puffed but the excellent young Pace defence held out for a clean sheet and a crucial one nil victory.

Shout out for the ref who had an excellent game, no howls of derision from the hill or the shed were heard throughout the game which is something 🤣.

Next 2 league games at home for the Pace where we are unbeaten could more or less wrap up a promotion spot depending on what happens else where, good to see some injured players returning yesterday just at the right time, squad has a bit of depth to it this season that has definitely helped the consistency of the team.

    Mon the Pace

Fair analysis. Didn't think there was a lot in it 1st half, but we (Nitten) were disappointing 2nd half. Thought Pace looked fit, were physical (and fair) and showed quality across the park. Our "ball players" got little to no time on the ball.

I think the tight plastic pitch suits you more than us, so we'll see what happens in the return match. We have a very young side who will only improve. Just hoping it's enough to get us promotion this year after a very poor start, mainly through youth and inexperience. You guys are a certainty to go up. Best wishes.

Lastly, on the referee, thought he was decent, one of the best I've seen this season, but he got a little card happy near the end when it was never a dirty game.

So much for us playing our first game in hand on Newtongrange today

    Oakley v St Andrews OFF

Only one game in the division yesterday, and potentially significant for the promotion spots. It adds a little pressure to St Andrews in their next 2 games, which on paper they should win, but Arniston did beat Newtongrange 3 weeks ago.

I feel Syngenta had their results expunged by this point.

At a glance the Top 5 would look like this:

Something that I noticed going through this is that Nitten and Whitburn have played Vale of Leithen twice already. The way VoL's form has been it would give the others a 3pt boost

Nitten's run-in is tough, but if they play like they did at home on Saturday to Camelon, they should be promoted. And, they still have Dunipace and St Andrews to play at home.

I've been saying for a month or more, the likes of St Andrews will be playing 3-4 games in 8 days soon enough, so I'd rather have the points in the bag.

They haven't been awarded the points against rosyth. All the points against rosyth will be stripped out the league.

Agreed Newtongrange deserves winners. Noone including me noticed at the time that the number 10 is actually offside at the goal. But those are the breaks you get or you don't. Star were well better than us today

I stand corrected on points. Either way, nobody benefits from the sad state at Rosyth.

It looks like #10 is offside on reflection, but your keeper has to do better.

  9. Newtongrange deserved winners in the top of the table battle today, and done themselves no harm in pursuit of a promotion spot. Dunipace now comfortable favourites to win the league after Camelon & Whitburn beaten, although they still have to play Newtongrange twice! St Andrews stay in the hunt after being awarded the points against Rosyth.

It's gonna go down to the wire methinks!

Given the current league positions and fact that Arniston had lost their last 4 league matches, certainly didn’t envisage that loss today from Nitten. At least it is softened a wee bit by the draw between Whitburn andvDunipace.

Yes and no. Whitburn getting a point today keeps them right n the mix. I think Nitten would be happy just to be promoted and if Camelon and Dunipace keeping winning, so be it.

Nitten not great today. Very soft 1st goal for defence to reflect on. Harsh penalty for Arniston's 2nd, but Nitten had 40 minutes to equalise. Well done to Arniston.

  11. 11 hours ago, Casey Jones said:

Nitten on a current 7-match winning streak, as far as league is concerned, scoring 26 goals and conceding 7 in the process.

Dunipace on 5 match winning streak, Cameron 2 wins in row, Whitburn 1 win, with St Andrews on 2 match losing run.

Nitten should(?) beat Arniston tomorrow, then have a crunch match the following week, at home to 3rd placed Cameron. Win both, then I think Nitten have strong chance of finishing in top 3, come end of season.

Apparently it's 8 straight wins and unbeaten since September. No doubt the experience they've brought in has helped after a poor start.

On today, I was very impressed by Arniston when they beat Nitten earlier in the season (that day my have been Nitten's last defeat!?) so I'm really surprised they're in the relegation zone. 🤞 today for Nitten.

Another excellent home win for Pace against St Andrews on Saturday, could and probably should have been a much heavier defeat for the Saints only outstanding repeated saves for their keeper kept the scoreline respectable.

Pace playing really well at home and in general at the moment, the blip at Heriot Watt was due to wholesale team changes and normal service was resumed with the starting 11 against St Andrews.

Sam Colley is unplayable at the moment and the team looks really balanced, avoid defeat in the 2nd attempt for Whitburn away on Saturday leads to a run of decent fixtures (which will probably cause us more problems than fixtures against the top 5 🤣).

Having seen all teams in the league, there’s no way I can see Pace not being promoted but it is very tight at the top, and with Camelon and Whitburn continuing to spend they are only going to get stronger, and nothing can be taken as a given.

    Mon the Pace

I think you're a certainty on current form, but you've still got to play Nitten twice! Yes, Nitten have played many more games than others, and they have a big test tomorrow in the local derby versus Arniston, but they've got the points in the bag.

There's gonna be 2-3 games a week for some teams soon, add that to injuries and suspensions, and you never know what might happen!

Another excellent home performance by the Pace, with St Andrews at home and the “rearranged” Whitburn game in the next few weeks should see the top of the league get another shake up…..

Whitburn were outclassed again for me, just cemented the one nil doing they got in the game that never was, Pace are in an excellent run of form in the league at the moment, onto the Oriam this weekend for Heriot Watt in the King cup!

What happened Saturday? Didn't see that one coming!

I must watch a different game to folk that comment on other social media. Assume they must be the gaffers mates or the committees mates and even a players ma! Improving? Nope. We’re rank rotten.

Not the fortress you once were. At least the silly results have calmed down. Survive this year then go again next with more experience.

Nitten will need to up their game if they want promotion.

WW more than matched them on the park for long periods last Saturday. A couple of breaks mightve seen a different scoreline but sometimes when yer near the bottom luck is against you.

St Andrews scraped past WW wi a penalty the previous game.

    Small margins and aw that.

Agreed, Nitten weren't great and the result flattered them. Thought WW played well. But, Nitten maybe wouldn't have won that in the past. Unbeaten now since around September.

Excellent win for St Andrews in an entertaining game at Preston. The hosts played some excellent football in the first half as did Saints but the away side took over in the second half.

That’s us back in the promotion places and still with games in hand on three of our main rivals.

Good win there on a tough day.

Although Nitten have played a few games more than the teams around them, they've got the points in the bag. With the recent postponements and the weather not even been that bad yet, I'd rather have the points than games in hand. Suspensions, injuries, playing 2-3 games per week, playing each other......it's gonna be a grand finale.
