  1. Cormack has made his decision. Fair enough. Won't be an early season ticket renewal from myself this year though.
  2. There's a slump every season. Then he has to have a radical change. Recruitment is a mess. The football is a mess. I'll be amazed and delighted if we finish third.
  3. That's called one team sitting back and hitting on the counter and the other hitting hopeless pot shots. If you go back to that match thread I'm certain you'll not find one comment that says we were in control of that game at any point. There's no room for sentiment. We can't just give him to the summer because he's been here for years and used to be brilliant. You wouldn't accept that at your day job. Why is football different?
  4. I wonder if it is anything to do with the man marking system we deploy. With losing some players to injury and then others coming in with no reserve game time it could be a contributing factor.
  5. But at least we'll have given Derek a chance to get 3rd.
  6. Isn't compensation calculated by length of time the player has been at your club rather than games played?
  7. Let's bear in mind they dropped their two players who came under offer after the window.
  8. He's a very good manager. He's been in the job so long and can't/won't evolve. It's obviously an extreme but Ferguson constantly evolved and changed assistants to keep things fresh. Derek has three yes men behind him. The recruitment is woeful too. Look at Livi. They're very creative with who they bring in. It's not a case of "Big Curtis has caused us problems".
  9. Is this where you tell us we should be happy to sometimes come third, reaching the very occasional cup final and implementing an archaic recruitment policy?
  10. Not so much just the wage but there's no-one battering down the door to get him in. Martin Bain at Sunderland and a desperate Rangers has been about it. The wage isn't too hard to believe when the compensation required for McInnes and Docherty is £1.2m.
  11. I think this is a fair post. I don't agree with how early you wanted him gone but I can see the thought process behind it. There's a reason for a manager to be in the job at one club in Scotland for 8 years and it's not because he's been relatively successful.
  12. The big risk that comes with employing top players as managers is that they can't understand why players can't do the things they did. You then have the added caveat of them potentially being so successful as player due to following another persons tactical instructions. You were spot on a few posts back. It's not an appointment that's going to take us to the next level that's required. It's one that can get us back to that spot of being best of the rest consistently so that we can then push on. I'm in the same place as @Frank Grimes. I'm gutted it's finishing this way for Derek. I was someone who did not want him as manager and then he completely changed my opinion of him. It's been a long slow decline though and he isn't able to turn things around. I can't understand how anyone can say "it's going to be jumping between top six and bottom six" when then there is a very real possibility of things going that way in the coming years under the current manager.
  13. Not sure if that's the true figure but he's on a mental salary. He kept the fans off of Stewart Milne's back.
  14. I think that's fair. He should have been a bit more creative with his signings once it got to the stage where he couldn't replace some of them. Rather than going like for like try and evolve your style or change your philosophy. Unfortunately that's how you end up with your Curtis Mains and Craig Brysons.
