We are under performing. Talbot being injured has caused us problems at the back. Marsh departing as well. Swann is not a left back. He should be further forward (maybe a bit of a luxury though). Deas and Bollan have potential, but could do with an experienced player (like Talbot) playing alongside them. We are still poor in the middle as well. The most frustrating bit is that we persist with the same failed tactics. Renton and Cox upfront doesn't work. How many games does it take to realise this? We bring Henvey in and sit him on the bench most of the time. No wonder he went back to Dundee. Sheerin not being fit enough also hasn't helped, but he still looks more dangerous than Renton. We look more and more like the team of the last few seasons. Struggling to even have any shots on goal, let alone score. Why not try Muirhead with Allan or Connelly, or all three. It's not like we can't take risks.

As has been said, taking ten points off Berwick this season has saved us from the dreaded bottom spot. Last season they took all twelve points against us. Basically, half our points have been earned against the bottom two. Some seasons we would be bottom with our points tally. We are just lucky that Albion Rovers and Berwick have been as bad as we are just now for most of the season. I am delighted that we are going to avoid the play off, but I worry about next season. Maybe Bollan has a few players in mind to try and change it if he stays.

Also, it doesn't look like a happy camp just now. A few players were having digs at others against Rovers. Some of our players look worse under Bollan as well.

I understand your frustration with the poor run use have been on but surely with the last few seasons you guys have had and the potential that a drop down to LL could have put you out the box, use would be delighted with this season. Last season in particular I thought Cowdenbeath where particularly poor, surely you can’t expect that to change overnight. Renton seems to get a lot of stick on here but I would have him at Berwick in a heartbeat, not sure what happened when use played us couple weeks ago think he was on teamsheets to be playing, but Allan seemed to be his replacement and I thought he was hopeless, he didn’t cause our ropey defence any real problems atall.

Wonder what the Berwick fan that said staying up was secured after beating Peterhead is saying now. Crazy statement to have made.

Would you like to enlighten us Fergie1?

Probably got a bit over excited as I’ve already said in a previous post. It was probably more of a shock we won that game than Albion winning 3 on the bounce.

I wonder if you still think Jonny is the right man, he hasn’t had enough time, has inherited a crap squad...

  3. Dress it up whatever way we want, we are in our current position down to the current manager. I said previously the turn around of Stirling was excellent when they appointed KR (surname too much for me) at a similar time to Harvey, and was shot down with the fact he inherited a better squad. Now the turnaround from Albion rovers and Kevin harper has been incredible and he inherited a far lesser side than Harvey did no doubt. The business harper did in January was excellent and I look at the players we brought in, all youngsters on loan who are not proven at this level, one made a couple of sub appearances and went back to raith and one fucked off to America for a month!! Blues scored against Peterhead but hasn’t kicked a ball out with that, aloulou hasn’t kicked a ball atall.  Granted you could say it still in our hands but what’s the likelyhood of us beating Albion in the penultimate game, never mind picking up a win in any the other games. Peterhead last Tuesday was clearly a fluke! Hopefully a miracle can help us out of this and we manage to secure 9th spot because I look at the East Kilbride team and say would any of our players get into their team? No!

Struth. It isn't difficult. If either team wins all their games, they stay up.

More realistically, if we maintain equal points with Albion in other games, it all comes down to the head to head at Shielfield.

The key for me though, is that Albion have stopped leaking goals. (1 in 4, I think). You'd pick their defence over ours.

Saturday will likely see a big swing one way or another.

Never mind how many goals they have conceded they have picked up 10 points from twelve and can realistically see them picking up another 4 from there next 2 fixtures, is on the other hand I think we will just see our goal difference get significantly worse!

hink Elgin have lost last three now?  Sure from memory Berwick have had 12 pens against them this season

Sorry your right regarding Elgin mate didn’t realise that, they had a great end to February didn’t realise they’ve had a shocking march. As much as I don’t think today’s was a penalty, what’s to say the other 11 weren’t not sure where your going with that? We are bound do concede a higher amount of penalties in comparison to teams above us due to the fact we get hammered most weeks and the other team are playing in and around our box for most of the 90mins.

  6. Suspect penalty this afternoon, but we’re not in our current position due to the odd refereeing decision. Tuesday night got everyone excited again but seems to have been a bit of a fluke. Fingers crossed for Tuesday, hopefully cowden can do us a favour, as previously mentioned though Albion will have huge belief and momentum now, so can only see an Albion win. Albion result is impressive as Elgin have been on an excellent run of late, didn’t see that coming atall

Spoke to Jimmy tonight. Think its fair to say he is not overly keen.

Leaves the door open for the hoardes of top managers Fergie1 tells us are jockeying for position. Form an orderly queue boys, one at a time.

You’ll have to direct me to the part where I said that mate. I do believe there is hoardes of managers out there who are far more capable than the current one though.

As I’ve said on another post, I’ll probably be more interested in what’s happening at Clifton hill tomorrow as I think will most. And will probably be the case most weeks until we play Albion  because I can’t see us picking up any points. Still waiting and hoping to be proved wrong.

  8. I think reading johns statement it’s clear that it was Johnny that was unhappy with the tweet. ‘Some of the players and management team’ what player is going to be bothered by a tweet, half of them probably retweeded it. Likewise though not on when chairman asks for it to be removed regardless of the reasoning and he refused.

  9. Statement released from the club basically letting us know Harvey isn’t going anywhere.

Find it strange that we will find out the plans for next season and how we get out this cycle, yet it looks hugely likely we will be playing lowland league football next season.

On to Peterhead then, hopefully Rory Shane, derek,Sco... They are all feeling unwell, maybe a dodgy pre match meal.

Mr Harvey not happy about the tweet methinks?  Strange though as it takes some attention away from his teams awful run of results.

Must admit I feel he has been hugely influential in this.

Why would it end Berwick Rangers as a club , it hasn't ended East Stirling?

Probably based on the financial figures he stated. And the fact probably 100% of our players are based around the central belt, when your drop into the lowland league you are then competing with a big pool of clubs already based in that area for these players. It has been stated on here we already struggle to attract players, what hope would we have in the lowland league with less money. The pull just now and the swingin factor between a player choosing us over one of these teams at the moment is our league status.

  11. If we go down, which is looking very likely, we will never come back up. Regardless of our parachute payment. It is now or never to make the change. The board must act now and have somebody in place for Saturday. And before anyone asks who do we replace him with again, that’s not for me to answer that’s why the board are there and that is there job. Go and break the bank to bring in someone. As for people harping on about the team giving a lot of effort, that should be a given for any team with players being played to play football. Quote Harvey “it might not be good enough but we are trying”. Well it isn’t good enough and I’m afraid you are the one responsible. He won’t walk, because if he does he will never get an opportunity at this level again so it is down to the board to act and act fast!

I do believe we mustered one real attempt in the 17th minute. Knee-jerk comment. No queue forming of better, more experienced replacement managers, must be the rain keeping the hoards away.

Disappointing defending leading to their 2 goals tonight; but again, fantastic effort and desire from all players. Tough on Brennan being fouled on winning goal, but naive defending allowing if to happen.

It's never over until etc etc, but she's warming up her tonsils I fear.

Saturday's tweet was unbecoming of an official communication of any professional body, particularly one seeking to attract families to support and sponsors to contribute.

    No problem Jonny

  13. Tonight was a bigger game than last weeks game against Albion in my opinion. It was an opportunity to put a lot of unrest to bed, put the gap back to 5 points pressure back onto Albion. We were dreadful, failed to muster any real attempts on goal!  In previous interviews Harvey has mentioned how it was difficult to compete with the top 4 clubs and we had a run of games coming up where he seen us go on a winning run. The last 3 games were exactly that and absolutely crucial for our club we have came away with 2 points. But sure it would be a knee jerk reaction to part company with him.

  14. You keep harping on about any possible change as being knee jerk, it’s anything but knee jerk, as previously stated when we beat Albion 2-0 we were 8 points clear it’s now 2 points and the future of Berwick rangers is in real danger. Please explain to me how it would be a knee jerk reaction? I’m afraid it’s not up to me to source and provide a replacement I merely suggested a possibility after being asked 3 times.

It does really surprise me though that with 8 games left and the team looking like they are down in the dumps, people think it’s crazy to replace the manager.

He's looking to move to the States and coach there. Why would he sully his reputation even further after his utter humiliation at Raith by being remembered as the man who took Berwick out of the league?

That was exactly my point, an opportunity to show he still has what it takes, 2 years out the game is a long time. At the end of the day he’s not going to get a job in any of the top 2 divisions that may pop up in the near future. There isn’t exactly a load of jobs out there. Don’t see why not
