  1. Considering our injuries, that is an excellent result for us. Obviously biased but it was not a penalty, however Tilsons clearance saved us, if that had gone in, I doubt we would have come back. Neither team really deserved a win, it was dire stuff but these are the results that can define a season. Thought Greive worked hard, it will be interesting to see him with Moult and Wotherspoon supporting him. Hope the two weeks off will see players return from injury.
  2. No aggression, just my observations, Dundee fans are hurting, we’ve been there.
  3. As usual, the build up to any derby is full of anticipation, nerves and emotions. Utd should win, but, it’s a derby and these games can turn on one incident. Dundee’s disallowed goal at the last Tannadice derby being a perfect example. I looking forward to a good game, I think it will be closer than the last two, but we’re stronger in every area, so let’s hope for three early goals for Utd and party time I notice the ill feeling towards everything Utd on various forums, seems to have been cranked up, apparently Tannadice is a dump that’s rich looking at Dens. Apparently we’re all from Angus, despite the various Dundee supporter clubs from out of town. (Incidentally my dad and grandad supported Utd). Dundee are still the big team, I think attendances recently, not just this season have put that to bed. Dundee had the opportunity over the past three seasons to establish themselves in the city, they have not taken advantage of our poor form, it’s an important season for both clubs. Utd have gambled and it seems to be paying off not sure of the implications to Dundee of further seasons in the championship, a lot of emphasise seems to be on the new stadium I have been fortunate enough to follow my team several times in Europe and seen them win 5 trophies. For the majority of Dundee fans there highlight was a top six finish, a cup final and a short trip into Europe, two administrations, and of course the so called “doon derby” when we all knew we were already down. (Not quite the same as winning two trophies and the league on our neighbours patch). But fair enough I’m sure it was a great night for them. Bring it on, whatever happens on Friday, I love the derby.
  4. We have been lucky so far in that our American investor anticipated that investment was needed, whether he anticipated how much, only time will tell, but the changes behind the scenes suggest stronger foundations than we’ve had for some time. However I am well aware it could all go pear shaped if he were to withdraw his support. you guys know better than me if your current manager should be given time, what I am saying is an instant return to the premier league looks ambitious this season. If a new manager is appointed, I hope for your sake it’s someone who is given time to build a team that will compete, it has taken us 3 years and we’re not there yet, just suggesting you learn from our mistakes. Two strong teams in Dundee can only be good for both of us
  5. What your going through is just what we experienced when we dropped into this division. We believed we were too good to be in this position and expected to come back up in one season. This was/is disrespectful to the other teams. They have seen their income increase over the past few seasons with Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and United bringing large away supports. They have filled their teams with experienced pros whilst not necessarily the most talented, these guys and the experienced managers know how to grind out results. Meanwhile, United and now Dundee frequently change managers and players usually overpaid players who flatter to deceive. These constant changes get you nowhere, only this season does it look like Utd have the manager, established team and structure behind the scenes to hopefully get us up, but it’s a difficult and expensive journey. In my opinion, for what it’s worth, Dundee need to accept it’s not going to be a quick fix, look for some stability, invest in the youth team and as painful as it will be, look at the long term. I still worry if Utd go up and after the last few seasons I am not taking that for granted, we could come straight down again, teams like Hamilton, Livingstone Ross County and St Johnstone with less resources consistently out perform us both, obviously good management an established structure and living within their means (ok some have a wealthy support) is the way forward.
  6. If more people remained loyal to their local teams, we would have less glory hunters "claiming" to be Rangers or Celtic supporters but never go to see a live game. It sickens me to see the pubs full of "loyal" old firm fans. rare successes, in what ever form, mean so much to supporters of the so called provincial teams.
  7. Dundee have a long history, but so much of it is in the distant past. I've been fortunate to see my team have some success, which includes trophies. I appreciate the loyalty of the Dee fans, especially during their "defiant" season, but if all they have to show is some admitably great performances that ultimately lead to nothing but administration, then their fans are easily pleased.
