Cant believe the shite coming from some Aberdeen fans saying they need more signings. How many new signings do you have FFS.You got away with one today and you know it.Had Livi been more clinical up front you'd be going up the road with he haw. Some of the tackles deserved more than was dished out,and I include our former captain in that category. Hopefully Bruce is OK but doesn't look good. And the dig a hole brigade, shame on them besmirching the good name of AFC.Shocking.

A tough opening fixture for Aberdeen.
Ramadani's energy and fight are certainly going to be missed in midfield. I'd probably prefer to see Polvara start ahead of Barron based on pre-season reports. Dadia is an option as he can play in the defensive midfield role.
I'm mostly concerned by our current defence given the injuries we have. McDonald (teased he might play) playing would be a tremendous boost for us in defence.
Livingston as always will be well up for it especially an opening day fixture at home.
Unfortunately I can see it being a draw.
You obviously haven't seen us recently.Yeh,we'll be up for it,but seriously I'd bite your hand of for a draw here.Huge step up on recent opposition.

Nothing official as yet, but usually the stadium Bar is home support only, with the Almondvale suite available to home and away.
Almonvale Suite Will have security on the door to prevent overspill as usual. Will be absolutely rammed.Avoid if you can Dons fans.Watering holes relatively near the stadium as has been pointed out..

You'd think so.Livi should win this comfortably. They need to be ruthless. With all due respects to Clyde..

Kinda points the way to the start of the season proper .With all due respects.Martindale doesn't know his strongest starting 11.Yeh leuge cup blah blah. With respect,Hamilton Accies.Give me a break.Premier leuge, aye for one more season. Hope the parachute payment keeps afloat for another season. Shame on West Lothian. .

Seems a bit of turmoil behind the scenes at NDP for our diddy brethren.Genuinly hope their ok . Would expect Livi to go back to the top of the group tomorrow comfortably but Martindale won't take them lightly. Many Livi players still finding their feet at the moment what with so many ins and outs so far.Looking forward to this and hope the Lions are professional and get the 3 points.Would be a major shock if they don't. .

Pretty sure we were already in debt so its probably worse than that unless we've got a cash injection from somewhere.
At the end of the day its all relative. Had we finished in the top half it would have taken care of at least half of that.
Likewise a successful campaign this year and we should be able to make a dent in that; really though we do need to start encouraging more people to come to the games; the old guard are getting fewer in number and new blood is definitely needed. With all the new builds going on in Livingston East and West Calder; the potential is definitely there.
Ah,the old encouraging more people to come to the games enalagy D.Weve been doing that for years with respect. And your dead right the older fans among us are getting fewer Appreciate there is an element of newer residents coming to the town and indeed the surrounding areas. Persuading them to join us is and will be a neverending pursuit that we continue to endeavour to grab them.Maybe this season will see a slight increase, but with due respects, I wont hold my breath. Sorry for the negativity, but thems the facts..

At the end of the day it could be pink with royal blue pinstripes and we'd still sell out in L; XL and XXL before Christmas. Not that I'm suggesting that as an alternative.

Decent result for the Lions today, with respect to the opposition. Looking at other results ie St Mirren St Johnstone Dundee Utd,il take that.Regardless of how serious teams take this competition a winning mentality pre season will in the long run do no harm whatsoever. Its early doors for all.Real stuff starts August 5th.

TBH fully expected Livi to be top of the group after today, though not sure if it was as comfortable as the scoreline suggested. Would suspect big improvements will be needed come the 5th of August for the Lions against Aberdeen, with all due respect to the others in the group..

Would expect Livi to be professional here and get the job done.As has been suggested, they should negotiate this group relatively comfortably. No disrespect to Brechin, but fully expect our first 3 points on the board come 4 45.But where have I heard that before.Mon the Lions..

No Nouble??.Hopefully keeping him for Saturday .

God forbid if come the 5th of August were left with Guthrie and Goncalves as our strike force Decent strikers don't come cheap, but surely the priority had to be that we get someone suitable in to give us a hope of at least being competitive this season. As it stands unless there is change up front can see us only going one way, albeit realistically unfortunate.

Really don't know if Guthrie would help Bruce though, Bruce tends to be subbed off when Guthrie plays, or comes on that late in the game there isn't any time to see how they'd work together. Guthrie and Nouble didn't work against St Mirren & Motherwell though, too similar as target men (albeit Nouble has far superior skills on the ball) but i think Bruce would work playing off Guthrie, doing the running onto knock/flick ons, i'd at least like to see them get the chance playing as a front two before writing Guthrie off completely.
One thing for sure though, Bruce isn't much use as a target man getting balls launched up to him, whilst fending off big CB's, and Guthrie isn't any use as a lone striker, so why not pair them together, and let Guthrie take the hits and feed in Bruce. Bruce gets completely outmuscled and bundled to the deck, Guthrie doesn't, but Guthrie knocks the ball onto nobody, as we haven't any runners playing up with him, FFS pair them together and who knows, it just might work.
I genuinely think Guthrie has something in his locker, albeit I've yet to see it.Im all for giving someone a chance and appreciate that in the markets we're having to deal in weve got to trust Davies judgement. Obviously a section of our support haven't taken to Guthrie, relatively understandable from what we've seen of him so far.Arguably some wanted him punted ASAP but as I've said needs must in this current climate. If were stuck with him I sincerely hope he kicks on.Unless we unearth another gem up front,in which case I suspect he'll struggle to hold down his place, especially in the SPL. .

It really hasn't.
I'd go as far as to say that if he leaves, we should be able to get two in by way of replacement.
One would do me.Guthrie doesn't fill me with overwhelming optomism Especially for the SPL. We really need someone who will genuinely help Bruce up front imo.For those mentioned they don't..

Stephen Kelly and Bradley could tear some teams apart this season I reckon. Kelly showing good link up with Penrice too
But with all due respects. Without the opposition were up against today.Got to get real.Yeh,first game back. This is going to get tougher.Sorry sounding like Sherlock. But not rocket science. We will struggle against the quality the SPL will provide this season.Or i am from a different planet?..

That's positive to hear. Good to hear Botterill had a cracker but then to balance it it's never great if your GK is your best player in the game. Nice to hear we looked good going forward today though given that's probably our biggest concern just now.
Without patronising you guys, you boys have a budget for League One.Im sure Marvin will use his to the best of his ability. We on the other hand are Premier league. The job Martindale has on his hands is huge for the coming season, and Marv will tell you that.Lower league players from England with a chance to put themselves in the shop window are what we're relying on.With respect Queens ambitions might not be the same as ours.A wee diddy team like ours will hopefully continue to punch way above our weight.Incidently haven't been to the Palmerston Bar under your stand.Great afternoons there despite the result. So friendly and a pleasure to be there. Not all clubs are the same, but you guys are.Good luck in the forthcoming season..

Yeh,agree Atlis.Queens goalkeeper in the first half looked decent. One or two Queens lads looked decent.Reckon big Marv will get the best of them.Good luck for the coming season. Will keep an eye on League 1 with interest. Get past Falkirk and you've cracked it.Lol.

The Lions v The Dons (Sat 5th Aug)

The pretext before the game clearly showed that a section of Livi fans thought we were in for a pumping from Aberdeen. That clearly did not happen regardless of how they played, and it was up to Aberdeen the Superior side as has been suggested to break Livi down. They didn't,and indeed Livi were arguably unlucky not to end up with one point instead of three.Thats why it wasn't boring for us.Maybe sad,but true..
