Player gets offered new contract. Player verbally agrees said contract. Club announce it thinking it's a done deal. Players gets last minute better offer. Player accepts the better offer. Think 'Meh' covers that quite well. The club jumped the gun a bit...so what? Its football, will happen all the time with players.

I really don't believe Murray is thinking that these guys are going to replace the goals scored by Duffy and McIntosh! Those 2 will need replaced but there's plenty of time to get players in and no doubt the club are working in the background to get the one's in they want.

Sounds like McIntosh agreed to re-sign and then changed his mind last minute. Probably not something the club expected him to do after giving his word but that's life. Would have liked to have seen him stay as a squad player but will be plenty of other options out there! Don't know much about Thomson but seems to have some pace about him....something which we have been crying out, especially when playing at home. Sounds like a good player thats always had the potential so hopefully he can kickstart his career here.

Most of the players released so far are the one's clubs don't want. As you said, once 1st June comes around we'll see the merry go round begin as everyone's contracts expire.

Delighted to see Hawkshaw has signed on again...looked promising in the last part of the season so hopefully he can take that into next season and become a key player for us. Also happy enough to see Millar stay...didn't have the best of seasons but definitely improved when Gallagher got injured and he was playing in the deeper role. Still think we will need a quality player in the middle of the park to play alongside him.

Think most people are forgetting that we're currently sitting with a squad of 17 just now if everyone we've offered contracts to re-sign (and that's not including the 8 yougsters) so there's a fair bit of deadwood to shift from the squad first before we go signing loads of new players. Also, if memory serves me right there was a rule change last season where all players are contracted with their clubs until the transfer window re-opens (1st June?) so realistically nobody is out of contract till then (and would also mean we can't get rid of the guys who are transfer listed till then).
