  1. Really quite excited by the Erwin signing. Always thought he had a great football brain and the right work rate to become a top class striker, given the opportunity I hope he succeeds with us. I spoke to a few Leeds fans today who were saying he was held in high regard by the vast majority of their fans, and feel he was unlucky not to be given a decent chance with them (mix of tactics/managerial changes/form of others apparently). Echoed mostly the sentiments given by Well/Killie fans tbh. Hope he can kick on from here and get his career going again with us
  2. Are season tickets accepted tomorrow or do I need to buy an actual ticket?
  3. Griffiths would be the dream option. But it's going to be Scott Wright......
  4. I'd have thought Lindsay would have higher aspirations than Rotherham to be honest. I know they'd pay more in wages but in terms of being a key member of the squad I'm not sure they could offer what we can. You could argue that the moves worked for Irvine and Boyce but they were already seasoned internationals and, with no disrespect to Jamie, better suited to the English game. However, if we can get ourselves a nice sum out of it, it would be interesting to see how we can strengthen in his absense
  5. Last I heard Ikonomou was the starting LB for Panathanaikos in the Greek Super League. The club did not have that great a season by their standards, finishing 8th and missing out on Europe, but by all accounts Ikonomou was a standout for them and seems to have really pushed on in his career after leaving us. Also heard reports that he was knocking on the Greece squad door a couples of month back. So I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it doesn't seem that Zeus will return to the mountains anytime soon sadly
  6. Making myself sick just thinking about another season of our lopsided defence...
  7. Just going by what the girl at the shop was telling me. I guess what you said is correct however, and it was a misinterpretation by myself or inaccurate info she may have been told. Indeed there is still plenty of time for renewals
  8. Went into the club today to collect my season ticket as was told that the entire Jailend has sold out this season, with very limited seats available in the West Stand, and the East Stand is filling up quickly as well. Apparently a large number of new ST buyers as well which is fantastic for the club. It's very clear that there is a real feel good factor around again and that support is bound to filter down to the managers and players. I just hope we build sufficiently this summer to have a solid season back where we belong
  9. Bit of a long shot, but is it worth a punt at Craig Gordon? He's free this summer apparently and could be a decent option for us and would help Munro on tremendously
  10. Two of those are also CB, who youd kind of hope would have some muscle and heftiness to them. You wouldn't put a stick thin guy up against someone like Edouard. The other two are supposed to fly down the wings, not trundle along with as much speed as a Massey Ferguson
  11. I liked the look of McGhee yesterday. He definitely seems to be the hardy battler type we like who also has a good turn of pace as well as leadership qualities. He would probably do well in the Prem. However, do we need another RB (he is a RB isn't he?), or could we shift Fraser to CB and start McGhee as first choice? I'd much rather we go with an astute LB though as we are seriously lacking down that flank. As for swapping with DKD, 1. absolutely no way, and 2. What a waste of a fine young talent to be playing against part timers and farmers
  12. I understand your point of view, but he also smacks of a player who is devoid of enough confidence in his game and also looks to be a bit out of shape compared to earlier in the season. Yes, being out of the team for a while will do that to you, but I think his problem is definitely a mixture of lack of fitness and also technical inabilities rather than "conserving energy". However, I would like to be proven wrong with some excellent performances this summer in preparation for the new season, but sadly he seems to have become a player who has found his level in the Championship
  13. Thought Kelly was abysmal today. Never one any of his aerial duels, passing was erratic, could not match the pace of his opposition for love nor money, and was very predictable going forward. He needs to really improve his game over the summer or it's goodbye I'm afraid. Just can't cut it in the Premiership. Thought Armstrong grew into the game, especially in the second half. Some good deliveries and had a bit of spark that worked well. Sadly never got the overlapping runs he would have flourished on from Kelly, but adapted his game well to deal with that. Maybe lacks a bit of pace, but seems a good young player. Paton had a brilliant game for me today. Totally changed our tempo and outlook when he came on, and never shied away from the ball. Drove forward at every opportunity, and always looked for the attacking pass into dangerous areas. Lad looks class. First proper look at Semple for me and I was happy with what I saw. Kept things simple, but seemed calm and assured under pressure and good with the ball at his feet. He will grow into the role with time, but seems a very capable and astute option for us next season.
  14. Rumours from down under we are looking at a couple of players from Melbourne Victory???
  15. Kelly, Semple, Morrison and I hate to say it, but KVDW. All three of those are decent at Championship level, with Kelly and VDW tested at Premiership level, but none really stand out as potential key members of the team for me. Bit part players maybe, and I would like to see more of Semple, but I think we will strengthen the defence better this summer than we have done before. Cowie is an odd one, as he undeniably has the ability and the experience, but he has not had the impact I had expected when he arrived. Yes he is now a senior member of the squad, but he has ghosted through a selection of games. Maybe played as a holding midfielder or an impact sub may be his calling next season? McManus is a good wee player with a lot of effort, but is better out wide and cutting inside. He gets bullied by big defenders and doesn't have the composure of a Graham/McKay/Stewart to test the keeper from all angles. Think he should be seen as being another Midge to be honest
  16. Think the show is spot on, highlighting the good and not so good areas of our game in an unbiased and intelligent way, unlike certain other broadcasters. Very enjoyable watch yet again this week. However, I don't get why it's not shown on a Saturday morning instead, it's better than Football Focus or that dead horse Soccer AM. Hope it's given all the support it can get
  17. Are there any Staggies planning on meeting up in Edinburgh before the game on Saturday? Will be in the area and am planning on heading to the match. If not, any decent places to drink near Waverley?
