Given that 60% of Africa's population is under the age of 25, I doubt that.

it was the second wave of the 'spanish flu' that killed young people, months after the original outbreak had died down. i'm not trying to say this virus will mutate but hopefully the world will be better prepared just in case.

The issue isn't 'wet markets', these are found around the world and are good actually.

The issue is the (unregulated and often illegal) introduction of exotic wildlife into some of these markets.

you probably think the dog meat festivals good too

You obviously didn't do too well at school , we're saving 24 pounds + travel expenses by not visiting your ? Park , stadium or whatever you call it

It will do you good to get away from your gull infested, fishy smelling cesspit of a town for a while. Watch the game and get a fish supper at full time and enjoy it in peace for a change.

Check the state of this post lol, no doubt still in the huff that your Bon Accord fizzy juice was not delivered to your lino ridden "multi" in Mill O' Mains back in the 70's............

Also what is this with all the Dee fans ending their posts with "Thank You"? is this the present day Fonz slang?

Always had a soft spot for Dundee FC but some of the slagging on here by their fans about the Red Lichties is changing that.

Hope we absolute pump youz and our fans are laughing from your prefab main stand on Saturday....................36-0.

    Thank You

I love this sort of thing as the "here's what might have been" is endlessly fascinating. It's why I've always thought I'd like alternative history or steampunk style novels, but I've never got my lazy arse around to reading anything like that.

For anyone else that likes this sort of thing I strongly recommend getting a copy of this book:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Unbuilt-America-Forgotten-Architecture-1983-02-01/dp/B01FEKULOA/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=unbuilt+america&qid=1582486149&s=beauty&sr=8-2

Get the hardback, but obviously don't pay big bucks for it. If you set a search reminder on ebay or check every now and then on Amazon it can be had for a tenner. I'm tight as f-ck and always determined to never overpay.

It's a fantastic book and filled with lovely sketches and drawings. There's a mix of failed competition entries from Architectural firms, concept art for city redevelopments, completed conceptual pie-in-the-sky stuff, and other proposals that simply didn't get off the ground because the political wind changed.

    A few examples:

Elevated Sidewalk - cover to Scientific American 1913

    Spiral Urban Hierarchies

    How to survive the fallout

And lastly, a proposed presidential summer retreat.

When I look at your picture of the Spiral Urban Hierarchies I keep thinking of the old Whitfield Skarne blocks in Dundee

I hope so, we are both off tomorrow luckily and she normally goes out with our dog walker on a Tuesday and Thursday. I think hubby is trying to make arrangements for her to go to work with him on Wednesday and Friday so she won't be on her own at least.

Sorry about your fur buddy...I know how hard it is.

FFS I am going to have sleepless nights now!  Where do I start?

If John Holt had not been deemed offside when Paul Sturrock struck to put United 2-1 up in the 1981 League Cup Final against Rangers would United have gone on to make it 3 in a row?

If Ralph Milne had netted his sitter in Rome at 0-0 would we have gone on to beat Liverpool in the 1984 European Cup final?

If United had not given up the chase after losing to Hearts in the 1986 run in would we have pipped Celtic to the title on the final day and saved the Jambos their final day trauma?

Had Kevin Gallacher not been deemed offside when Ian Ferguson scored to put United 1-0 up in the 1987 Scottish Cup Final against St Mirren would we have gone into the UEFA Cup Final in a different frame of mind a few days later?

If Billy Thomson had not taken a head knock and thereby been more alert to the freak bounce that led to Gothenburg taking a 1-0 lead to Tannadice would we have won the 1987 EUFA Cup by not pushing for an early goal and not leaving ourselves open to the sucker punch goal and therby be the last Scottish team to win a European trophy?

If Eammon Bannon had netted his glorious chance to put United 2-0 up in the 1988 Scottish Cup final would we have denied Celtic the double in their centenary year?

If Freddy van Der Hoorn's shot had struck the inside of the post and gone in instead of going out for a thrown in at 0-0 in the 1991 Scottish Cup final would Jim McLean have defeated his brother Tommy in the Family Final?

If Mark Kerr had not decided to pass the ball backwards to Kris Boyd in the 2006 League Cup Final...I think I need to go lie down in a darkened room :(

If Jim Mclean had just stayed at Dens it would have saved you a lot of heart ache.

That is one thing that makes me wonder about vegans. What do they think will happen to all the lovely cows and sheep if we stop eating burgers and wearing wool? Are they going to enjoy a nice long retirement on the farm before passing away of old age? The cows and sheep, I mean, not the vegans. They'll die young due to malnutrition.

i think the cows would need a bull and the sheep would need a ram

Poultry farms are pretty bad as you say and standards for free range poultry aren't exactly great either.

The hens themselves are pretty much bred to lay as much as possible and even if they're rescued by one of the various organisations that rehome them once the usual 18 months is up they often develop health problems associated with the amount of strain that's put on their bodies from laying so much. None of our girls lived for much longer than a few years despite the fact they were well looked after. If I were going to adopt more I'd probably get them an implant to stop them from laying. At least then they might get to enjoy life for a bit longer.

You're right they are just laying machines. The free range where i was had a bit better quality of life, but still pretty poor conditions,I wouldn't call them free range but a bit better than a cage I suppose. It's good people rescue the lucky ones now, it didn't happen much in my time.
