  1. Some of the assumptions here are brilliant patter. Comedy writers standard in certain cases! The left side is a clear issue, but it was so before a ball was kicked, based on the skeleton staff at the back. Panic buttons over a couple of friendlies is a bit much, gentlemen. I'm sure the club contractually are obliged to keep offers to players open in the case of u23/24s (whichever age it is) in order to recieve a comp fee. If we removed those, we'd get nothing. And it only need be a contract of equal, not necessarily greater amount. It can be offered purely with this mind, even if accepting a player's wish to move. No one is going to actively offer deals, unless budgeted for. Leaving numbers out of this for the smartypants posters to gain relevance, yes it would seem the balance of Tom Lang's wage and the fee received is no longer simply a wage budget issue. We released 7 players, and signed four- i can't imagine the combined figures of both groups to be that different as we're signing three very good players and adding a keeper this year too, having shipped out (Coggill excepted) fringe players and proven dross. DC is a conundrum himself, as he ticks a very important box, but the decision has been made. The re-signed players certainly deserve a raise, whether or not they got one, and so perhaps we simply ARE waiting on two or three making up their minds. At least in that case, we're in the rat race, instead of filling up on cast offs in July. Let's hope the rats win.
  2. Three of the back five, made playoffs during a period of brutally Siberia-esque austerity. Very unduly harsh inclusions. Especially, when a great number of them were on minimumish wage. The real culprits are surely those who took the piss, even allowing fans start crowdfunding for their wages. That process, among Clyde fans, could surely only ever end well...
  3. Element of truth in this, but ditching them is very different to keeping them! After beating Elgin 4-1 in September, we then failed fo win our next three home games, which itself may have been a catalyst as we changed against Annan, who traditionally wear black socks themselves. Red socks subsequently only seen in away kits, thereafter. The rest is history. The socks are specifically mentioned here. The top and shorts, are not.
  4. December 15th,onwards actually. You don't think there's a link between this and results? 12 years of red socks, 11 years of shite to go with them. f**k 'tradition'.
  5. I do hope the 'patter' improves upon this. I certainly expected better. I never considered singing a virtue of visits to Station Park, or indeed any Monbroathfar ground back in the day.
  6. Entirely subjective, but given that since one of them first left, it's taken almost his entire career for the club to head upwardly in any capacity, it's not without foundation. The midfields we've endured in between...
  7. McStay has, in my view matured excellently since his permanent shift into his deeper position, more so than any other in the side of last year. The obvious others had already displayed this, and Lang once at CB was like Baresi. There were many carrying doubts last year that he 'had it', but i think this responsibility has made a man of him. His final ball though may be what deters serious offers. That said i agree it would not be easy for us to replace him, on whatever budget we have set aside for him. But we've just gone toe to toe with a flush Peterhead for 35 weeks, on a literal shoestring, and taken three of the best remaining L2 players with us. That's down to the character and attitudes of those Lennon and Moore brought in, and i'm confident they'll do so again, within the constraints.
  8. Isn't most support-related self-abuse not directed towards how a larger cash cow, such as ourselves in L2 for nine seasons, sustains the rest of the league that bit further in away crowds then others, rather than home gates? Realistically Falkkkirk can suffer a 50% decrease via a boycott, or just plain and simple fans not going because it's shite, and still be the largest fish in the tank by another 50%.
  9. I personally have no interest in either the cast or what the interviewee has to say, but it was clear to all from the Berwick 3-1 win in the November onwards, that the morale was draining through a seive week-on-week. Only a fool would have tried to portray himself as the victim in such a scenario, and calling out the fans' right to criticise what was a truly unnerving period must have got in the way of the narrative set out by the interviewer. He can't change his performances, but i'll accept his apparent contrition and taking responsibility any day over half-arsed shit-stirring.
  10. For context, he could ask from a wider (no pun intended towards Handsome) variety, such as the 80s, 90s and 00s stalwarts who sit among us every week, and not always as guests of the club in our new lounge. Or indeed, ask some of those in the lounge itself from 5.30/45 onwards on Promotion Day who had run the gauntlet under both (or either) the Shellsuit and Chapman, mixing with these very nasty creatures as if nothing had ever happened. Would he dare? Still not forgiven his lot for Miller Mathieson or Euan Donaldson, tbh. Time for him to make it up.
  11. I'd wager that it was suggested gleefully? Whyever then, would he want these notorious antagonists tuning in, far less feeding back on the casts?
  12. Not being referred to as "a club that's really hard to like", with no right of reply, perhaps? Or maybe it was only the six regular viewers (no elongated consonants!!) who heard it.
  13. I'm very sure Danny, and i hope David and the fundraising team behind the initiative, will take the view of the last sentence. It's not simply a £5 commitment, it's a £260 one and in many cases, on the back of, or in the lead up to, another £230-260 (per head...)outlay (in holiday season) in itself a show of loyalty and support not seen or even asked for in return for a tangible product, since Greece were reigning European champions. The increased media and general interest may boost the numbers further still, if last years total (around 1 in 3.5 average fans enrolled) is matched, the pot will be swollen quite throbbingly.
  14. Calm it, dammit, Janet. First draw is July 16th. This was announced AFTER May payday (last year's Flying Start was much earlier) and with June's to come, and then a full two months open transfer window after, 100+ is a great start. Also, with from what a reliable source told me down the kennels we've sold more STs via the Early Bird than expected. Add an increase in media and PR interest, larger attendances, a steady if not spectacular raise in bonus money, dodging the graveyard round of the Scottish Cup, etc. Is there a reason for such panic from Mr Fisher?
  15. Post should be deleted for mention of The Fud alone! Within ten days of sealing the promotion we had 11 of the squad signed back up, four new added and seven announced as released!! What more do you want? There's the very real possibility that in many cases, Lennon and Dishon may have had two contracts drawn up for each player prior to the second leg of the final, one for being in L1, and a significantly different one for L2. Thats the very least im sure that went into these talks. Lang and McStay, i have no doubt would be higher-end of the scale for these. Freedom of choice for both to exercise their rights, we're not running a Jim McLean trafficking operation here. In fact, slaves would probably get more in benefits that the wages Clyde historically have paid. Which must bring comfort knowing very few if any players are ever here for the money.
