But please keep posting here JR as it both annoys the establishment and more importantly allows  opinions to be expressed that contradict the majority view of the clique.

"Annoys the establishment" what are you on about mate?

Look at the early results in the league that season. We won the league that year. Not saying we should be mindlessly optimistic and that opener was definitely a reality check but the booing and doom and gloom comments are completely stupid imo. There's a long season ahead of us and no reason why it can't be a good one.

  3. Absolute dross watching that today but I don't agree with those that are throwing the towel in after one game. It's a long season, it should be a tight league, and you'd expect Forfar to be somewhere near the top. Not convinced by the 433 though, don't think we need 3 centre mids and I think we'd benefit from a formation that facilitates one or two of our more creative midfielders/wingers (namely O'Reilly, Thomson and Hawkshaw)

  4. Can understand the doubts about Millar and Wedderburn in midfield together being too defensive but I think Millar actually provides a lot of the energy that Wedderburn is lacking despite being a quality player. With that said I like the look of Cowan as well, especially considering how young he is, and would like to see more of Roberts so I'm fairly easy going. In terms of defence I like the look of Kerr and Fordyce so far and look forward to seeing McKay. Crighton's distribution is poor but he marked the Accies number 99 out of the game until he got chucked up front at the end. Think it looks like we have quality backups and good competition for places in most positions this season.

  5. How the f**k did we bottle it?We got numerous decisions against us?they got a penalty for nothing?and a great goal it’s hard to play against 14 men so don’t leave all the blame on the squad

Bottled it is maybe too strong a phrase but the second half performance was poorer than first half. Decisions against us were atrocious but still a bit disappointed to lose considering we were 2 up at half time. Still a good performance against top flight opposition (woeful team but top flight nonetheless)
  6. Cannot deny that we bottled it today but a very good showing against a premier league outfit and I'm hopeful for this season. I've said for a while that it should be us and Falkirk competing and it still seems that way. The bookies have Raith Rovers ahead of us but they've had a dismal league cup (pumped 3-0 off Cove today, fair play to Declan Glass getting the third). If anything I'd be more worried about East Fife and Forfar than Raith Rovers

  7. Hope Murray isn't afraid to drop Crighton because he's captain. Was our only decent centre half last season but he's had a woeful time in this league cup group. Own goal against Thistle unlucky, but needlessly gives the ball away too often and was a bit suspect for Goodwillie's second on Sunday. Kerr has had shaky moments as well but so far him and Fordyce have looked better imo

  8. anyway enough of this negative pish,    do we realistically have a shot at glory this season , the bookies have us third favourites behind Falkirk and Raith i would guess that would be about right.

I can see why Falkirk are strong favourites. They're a big team that's just came from the league above and they've made ambitious signings, but I fancy us over Raith Rovers. The fact that they've signed Joao and Kieran MacDonald (two players we've lost and improved on by the looks of things) has me feeling fairy confident we've got a better side than them this year. Falkirk are favourites for a reason but I think we're the team that can make it tough for them and challenge them all the way.

Yes. the Rovers game and highlights of the other 2 games.  So I can't tell you it isn't so!

I thought there were positives to take from Thomson's performance against Thistle. He looked dangerous when running at defenders in the first half, but I'll admit his end product was a bit sloppy. The team's full of new players and they'll still be getting used to playing together, once Thomson's had a run of games playing with the other lads I think he can be a good player for us this season, keeping in mind we'll be playing teams weaker than Thistle every week.

Defender I would think , don’t think manager liked what he saw  in our last game .

Hopefully a full back. I think Kyle MacDonald is our only natural right back and is young and inexperienced, and now that we've sold Edwards we only have Eckersley and the young lad we signed from East Kilbride at left back. Been impressed with Eckersley and not seen MacDonald yet so I can't make a comment, but it does seem like we're lacking alternatives in both full back/wing back roles.
