    ^ Match report from weekend.

I'll echo a lot of what has been said already; good win in a good final workout against a good team who you'd reckon are better than most of the teams in League 1. They'd be comfortable at worst, probably pushing for playoffs. A lot to be pleased with; worked the ball well at times and were tidy in possession. Moved the fitba' well.

If we can get a fee for a 35 year old goalie in this climate, that'd be remarkable business. Much as Hutton is rightly well liked, that's money we've no right to be getting.

Mental how you’ve not gave Kerr motm but a good read none the less!

Ok it's decision time for the team selection the 3 positions and players may be still to be decided.

    GK.......Hutton or Currie

    Hutton  steady keeper

    Mid......  Kerr or McKay

Kerr. Although McKay is always a goal threat unlike Kerr

    Striker......  Roy or Gallagher

Gallagher our most consistent scorer,  ideally would like another option

    Thoughts folks.....

    Agree with this tbf

We’re extremely lucky to have a player like him. So it’s important that we give the boy a chance.

Extremely lucky? If he was that good he wouldn’t be at Airdrie imo, can only live off his dads name for so long! Still early days with the boy but if he wasn’t good last night then that’s that, fans are expecting a world beater but again if that was the case he wouldn’t be with us!

That new year derby was horrendous. Big crowd in that day and we shat the bed as always. The Livi away game just before Christmas was dreadful too. Russell and Ryan must have been suspended or injured and Kevin Schmidt looked like a lost little boy playing upfront by himself. If he was still running around Almondvale now he still wouldn't have scored. Was that Brechin game the midweek one where we kicked off late and Fitzpatrick told a fan to f**k off? Horrific times. Funny thing is though we should have seen out the first leg of that play-off semi-final against Alloa and if we'd played Brechin in the final who knows what would have happened. Dread to think though really. We're in a much better place now off the park. That 4-3 win at Cliftonhill was cracking though!

Wonder if McGregor's dad still posts on here...

I thought the wording of 'first team coach' was interesting too and would certainly suggest there's an idea to bring in an official 'assistant' if needs be. I'd imagine though with Murray, Crighton, Prunty, Low and Jaz Grant (going by the pre-season pictures) still around and the fact we got rid of Colin Cameron in the first place would suggest they're happy enough with the coaching staff and arrangements at the moment. I guess Millar would ideally stick to his DoF role and not get involved in the coaching side of things. But given these aren't ideal or normal times and his wealth of experience it wouldn't surprise me if he got involved in some way or another. A useful guy to have around in that regard anyway.

I heard Jaz grant was away, could be wrong..

Based on the squad we've signed so far I can see us going with something like:

                                       Currie

    MacDonald Fordyce Crighton McCann

                             McKay   Ritchie

                       O'Reilly Robert Carrick

                                  Gallagher

Depending on who's still to come in, presumably at least one more midfielder, I could maybe see Ritchie, and/or AN Other dropping out but think that could be more or less the side, or at least the shape, we start the season with. Definitely think Currie will be the starting goalie anyway.

Agreed about  still needing an experienced midfielder in though I'm still thinking we need more of a streetwise sort of player rather than a creative type. Agreed about the need for another striker too. SeaGal can be frustrating but he is a good goalscorer at this level. He's our only proven consistent goalscorer though which is a bit of a concern atm. Think one of the West Ham boys coming in is a striker?

Why we assuming Ritchie is gods gift he played with Cumbernauld colts and is 19😂 most people on here where preaching experience >Kerr/McKay...

While I don't know what Ian Murray's plans are for the team (hopefully he does at least) I see Mbayo as being a backup. Last season when we had a full selection of players we had two defenders in Kerr and Eckersley on the bench. So presumably Mbayo is essentially a cheaper replacement for Eckersley. Even if they move Kerr into the midfield, which I'm still hoping they don't, Mbayo will still be the substitute defender.

I’m thinking there’s no way Kerr would have re-signed without promises of playing. At his age with being in the bench as much as he was why would he agree to that...?

I'm intrigued! Without knowing who the player is of course, as you say if they're that bad, chances are they won't feature too much anyway and will largely be there to fill a spot on the bench/for emergency use only. MacDonald, McCann and Crighton were all virtual ever presents last season and I think Fordyce literally was. Kerr and McKay can play at the back too and with a shortened season, if they're offensively bad then they probably won't feature much barring disaster.

Well I heard it would be announced a few days ago but haven’t heard anything since so the deal might be off
