Who said anything about Morton fans being out to get anyone?Β  It was just an observation that the Morton fans of today seem to have some very different opinions to the same Morton fans of yesterday.Β Β

Wheres the shifting goalposts from Morton fans? The majority of fans yesterday said that the first jacobs yellow was soft, the second one was stupid, both penalties were correct and that our disallowed goal should have stood and I'd say that still seems to be the general consensus after watching the video evidence, other than the Jacobs first tackle being a bit worse than was thought at the time.Β

I don't agree it's shifting goalposts anyway if you have one view at the match and another after watching the highlights, in fact I'd find it weird if people refused to change their mind objectively on decisions when given evidence. I find it much stranger that Arbroath fans would go from literally saying they were playing against 12 men and the referee cost them the game to not having any opinion one way or the other when they've had the chance to see the contentious events back.Β

I think most of us are just admiring the shifting goalposts from Morton.Β  You seem to be having both sides of the argument yourselves.Β Β

Ah okay now it's Morton fans out to get you. The world really is against you.Β

On all my years on here I don't think I've ever seen a set of fans have a collective mental breakdown during a season quite like this.Β

  3. The first Jacobs challenge is later than I thought it was because it looked like it was given for a boot to the head which it clearly wasn't at the time, and the second booking was a clear tug on the shoulder/arm of Blues as he was running past him although you don't get a great angle of that from the stand. Worth noting that Jacobs wasn't exactly raging with either decision and I think he knows he was a stupid boy especially after just being given a yellow minutes earlier.Β

Both penalties are as clear as day as well and there's no foul on Bird in the build up to our second goal.Β

Our disallowed goal is an even worse decision than I thought at the time. I thought it was just a case of keeper being over protected but there's not even remotely a foul there.Β

All in all a good win against 12 (then 11) men.Β

Has French improved any with you guys? The player we had before his injury last season is exactly what we are needing as a RWB but it never seemed to have happened with you guys.

Not so far no. He's not awful by any means but he's the definite weak link in the team in my opinion although you can't argue with our defensive record recently which he's been a part of. He's certainly not a disaster or anything, but he's not reached the heights I hoped for when I saw Dundee fans' reactions to him joining us.Β

He seems quite weak and his positional sense hasn't been great defensively at times. He's offered very little going forward and there's been no sign of any blistering pace that we were told he had when he signed.Β

He's obviously had a bad injury so I have no idea what he was like before but on his showings with us I'd say lower championship/top of league one is his level currently.Β

  5. Thought Arbroath played quite well in first half even with ten men but second half was only going to be one winner if we got the first goal.Β

Thought the first booking for their sending off was harsh but the second was a stonewall yellow.Β

First penalty was a clear hand ball and I'm pretty sure a morton player was fouled seconds after it as well before he blew the whistle. Second penalty was clear as well, just a tired tackle against Crawford who'd found space to run in to the box.Β

I like to think I'm fair when it comes to referees having howlers for both teams or in favour of Morton but honestly f**k knows what game Arbroath fans seem to have been watching.Β

Wilsons foul was a tad late on Alston. Stanways tackle was a deliberate attempt to take quitongo out. I wouldn't have said it was a red card but having seen Oakley being sent off against QP for a similar foul I wasn't sure.

The word tad is doing a lot of heavy lifting here regarding Wilson. Looked a clear red card tackle to me from the footage. Penalty for Partick near the end was clear as day as well.Β

Can't remember a game where the referee got so many big decisions wrong, and yet he still managed to make the game all about him handing out bookings like Oprah.Β

  7. I thought we played some excellent football in the first half and probably should have been out of sight.Β

The second half turned in to an absolute battle, not helped by the referee who managed to get both sets of players and fans incensed with his decisions. Usually if the match turns in to a battle it suits us but I thought it took us out of our stride and suited Partick more, and once they scored I thought they were the the team looking more likely to win although I only really remember one dangerous shot from them.Β

  8. Potential penalty still looks an absolute stone waller on the Dundee utd highlights, although there is a Dundee utd vlogger who's camera from behind the goal shows a better angle of Holt pulling Broadfoot more than it looks like from the stand camera. Still the wrong decision from the ref for me.Β

Goodwin is just talking pish about the second yellow though. Unless his analyst has got one of those fake cctv cameras you see in movies where they zoom in clearly on shite resolution images to make a perfect image then there's absolutely no way he has seen Sibbald get a toe on that ball.Β

Genuinely couldn't make out the penalty shout from the other end, but the second yellow was a good call. I can see why from the dugout it would look bad because Sibbald did get a touch on the ball, but it's one of those where the tackler makes such a light contact with the ball that the player he's tackling simply traps it again, takes another touch and then gets punted in the air by Sibbald's trailing leg. It's a textbook yellow.

It was just two teams with - for today only - ropey defences trading chances and us having the more clinical striker that made the difference, not refereeing or physical dominance.

DUTV has replays and the penalty was an absolute stone waller and it's a laughably bad decision. Even worse is Holt (I think) had still managed to get free and get a header that was going in even if you could possibly make the argument that Mullen stopped as he was never getting it. Broadfoot has improved a lot recently but that's not the first time this season he's been wrestling an attacker in the box.Β

I've not seen the second yellow again but Goodwin has said he watched replays of it and said its clear he got the ball. I've only saw it once and at the time didn't think there was any contention over the decision and was a clear second yellow so will wait to see it again.Β

  10. We are a physical team in terms of stamina and getting stuck in and we do have an aggressive high press and we also do get the ball up early to the striker to bring others in to play and I love that about us so I have no problem if a manager says it and uses it as a positive which I felt Goodwin did post match (at least on the BBC, his tone may change on in house channels)Β

Too often from him and other managers in this league it's been said in a negative and patronising way that we are a team of hammer throwers that can't pass the ball to each other and just go around kicking opponents which just blatantly isn't true.Β

I thought he pointed out our strengths tonight and praised us for beating them because of it.Β

I feel sorry for the other guy having to try and justify what Daves rant was all about , although mostly he ends up explaining why it was free kick or why it was a yellow card , the other guy actually does a great jobΒ

Aye usually commentators don't correct the other one but the main commentator just spent the game explaining the rules to the other guy πŸ˜‚

  12. What a win. Excellent first half performance and was gutted we couldn't defend two crosses to go in ahead at half time.Β

Second half was mostly Dundee utd and I'd have been very happy with a point l, especially as their disallowed goal should have either stood or been a penalty to them. Was happy enough having a good laugh at the DUTV Co commentator losing his grip on reality as the half went on and the ref was giving rightful bookings to both teams so to steal it at the end was fucking glorious.Β

The only thing stopping most Ayr fans from offering to drive half of the current first squad to Stranraer themselves is that driving to Stranraer in January is one of the few things roughly as grim as watching Ayr United. Doesn't it make more sense to be honest about having a pish team than getting terribly upset when other people point it out?

Just a weird thing to say about a player with 13 goals (8 league goals) by the beginning of January despite not being an out and out striker and having a goal highlight reel over the space of 3 years better than any player in this league.Β

You couldn't get more of a championship level player than Robbie Muirhead.Β
