I think that’s somewhat the elephant in the room just now. If we made a huge loss every year with next to nothing of a behind the scenes team and a decaying stadium. I’m not sure where all the additional cash is coming from.
That’s what I’m wondering. I’d say, at a rough guess, under 12’s would make up about a fifth of our home support.
As a comparison, Falkirk who are in a bad way, have sold 2,500 season tickets so far.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on season ticket sales so far and what would be a successful number of sales once the serious stuff starts?
I’m probably in the minority of being a bit underwhelmed at the numbers so far given how many of them are now free, coupled with the significant improvements both on and off the park.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you got your wish. Liam Dick is good for covering at centre half but I definitely wouldn’t want to be relying on him, Corr or Masson as a starter once the serious stuff starts. Although I’d also not be adverse to seeing us sign Patterson, I’d much rather see us bring in another proven CH before we sign a left back.
I’ll see your FFP being the main source of news from the Rovers and raise you ‘The Raith Line’… who remembers phoning up that number for all the latest news from Starks Park?
It’ll be really interesting to see how the commercial/sponsorship side of things grow over the next season or two. We are pretty top heavy when it comes to behind the scenes staff just now. If this is going to work then they will need to bring in a hell of a lot of money compared to what was coming in under Sim’s stewardship if we are going to pay these staffing costs as well as avoiding the 120k per season losses we used to incur.
I still find it remarkable that Sim managed to pass the blame of contract clauses onto Mcglynn. The same John Sim that’s a global head of an international accountancy firm.
I think you’re right with this. They maybe aren’t ‘better’ on paper but it’s something different. For one reason or another Gullan, Ross and dare I say it even Vaughan haven’t been able to give us what we hoped they would. We pinned our hopes on them and it hasn’t worked. Bringing in other options means all the chips aren’t going on the same numbers any more.
