  1. I’ve heard Two other clubs look set for it as well.
  2. Fair play to Kirkcaldy making the leap. Wonder how that will leave the ERSJFA now. However also opens up more spaces for ambitions amateur clubs to apply juniors. A lot of top Saturday teams could apply to that league if they have correct facilities. Curious to see if other ERSJFA clubs follow suit to Kirkcaldy though
  3. It’s been strongly suggested. Currently the SERYFA isn’t happy as it’s lost many clubs to u20s league which is becoming far more populaR. I think 17s league be better though as not as much quality these days and means even from 15/16 boys can see their way into the u20s/reserves and first team.
  4. With Hume, Newtongrange probably preferred allowing him to go sign amateurs rather than for direct opposition(eos clubs). If he’s playing with his mates and is also off their wage bill, it is surely a win win for all parties. Josh walker retired from pro football due to injuries and fitness I’m sure I read that somewhere. Him moving to Amateur game may suit his body and what he can handle better. People always quick to slate teams at this level getting good players, surely have to commend the clubs as it strengthens the leagues and amateur game. I doubt there’s teams paying serious money in these leagues also Especially the 2nd tier amateur.
  5. I know south of Scotland league struggles for attendances and there’s only a select few teams who maybe can push to compete ( Musselburgh thumped a sos team in recent cup final) its a good opportunity for one of these west clubs to apply, potentially win the league if they have the right setup in place then have the shot at the play offs for the lowland league, as naturally eos champ plays sos champ for entry to LL. now many people may think this as a poor idea. Kelty did it with eos when eos wasn’t filled with all the ex juniors and were run close by LTHV but won as expected. They’re now sitting looking at promotion to SPFL If season goes as planned. Some fans may not like this idea, for clubs like Clydebank who are looking at options into the pyramid I don’t see why not Consider Sos, not being disrespectful at all to competition but a chance for those who want pyramid to achieve it. Whatever clubs decide etc. There’s still no doubt the west region prem is probably strongest and best supported semi pro league in country.
  6. Who’s that? I spoke to a few but u know they keep there cards close to their chest. Fauldhouse seemed a certainty after fox gate.
  7. Just thought for a big club like Musselburgh, Scottish cup at stake and also no other eos fixtures that day to my knowledge they would’ve been along backing, yes 30 miles is a fair distance and same for 70 for the opposition, but was disappointed as I expected it to be far busier. I’m also just stating my opinion which I’m entitled to as it’s a forum. Also I attended the livingston Thornton final and most fans were Thornton and Bathgate isn’t exactly next door. I totally agree on the point with pumpherston and fauldhouse though. Netherless good to see another non league team in the cup.
  8. Fair play to Musselburgh winning that cup, was shocked the attendance was only 220, that’s about half of the fauldhouse pumpherston final last year and same for the Thornton and Livingston. I was expecting over 1000 due to the chance of Scottish cup. However that’s just football and times are changing I’m not slating pyramid, I loved playing east of Scotland but just feel juniors isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be just now.
  9. There’s plenty benefits going to pyramid. I enjoy the EoS setup having played there, also enjoy the juniors as well. Currently the big teams have pushed on +1/2 maybe punching above their weight in eos. The medium to small teams most have moved and maybe some may prefer eos but the quality of football in my opinion isn’t any better. For some teams possibly worse. The east regions is getting a bad write up but most teams in the super leagues are gathering bigger crowds than in the eosfl conferences. I’d expect most super league teams to win at least half their matches in these conferences also without being disrespectful. I support football at all levels but the juniors I feel should stay the juniors as it’s got that nostalgia and a proper community feel that a lot of senior clubs maybe don’t have. Also there’s not currently enough clubs eligible for a licence for the Scottish cup so would be replacing the magic of the junior cup for a secondary trophy (unsure what would be called if all teams moved) which won’t mean as much to the fans, again no disrespect intended. I’m a lot younger than those people who wish to stay loyal to the grade. I just feel it’s a massive step and it could maybe signal the end for a few smaller teams. Craigroyston say they will cease at end of season, Eyemouth have taken a non playing membership. The grass isn’t always greener folks. However for the ambitious clubs with plenty money and support I’m sure they could go and do a grand job and compete. Even look at Linlithgow in the top east of Scotland league. They used to be in hat for junior cup for many seasons and have struggled a lot this season. If you look at juniors websites and how fixtures are compiled now. It’s like last year the max exodus was the boot up the backside it needed to get with the times.
  10. I agree everyone entitled to their opinions but super league teams are probs stronger than most conference teams. Whereas prem teams still have a bit of catching up to do. I’ve helped some players who didn’t cut it for super league teams but signed eos conference and I don’t mean any disrespect. Either way debate is healthy and it’s good to see interest in the leagues. I think all the juniors coming wouldn’t be a bad idea but would show that the good sides still there aren’t as far behind as some people say. A few big teams have struggled since the move whereas the ones who stayed may find themselves better prepared should it happen now.
  11. When I’ve seen them seem like a decent side if they made move would certainly do well in current conferences if they keep their squad together.
  12. Thanks, Kirkcaldy have benefitted from their merger so woudlnt be a bad move. Also fauldhouse no shock after the fox holes. Cheers
  13. So have any teams indicated they wish to join the east of Scotland? I know this has became very pyramid based and a lot comments of juniors on the west, but in regards to new eos clubs is there any amateurs or juniors that people have heard are rumoured to be applying, I tried scrolling through but brain overload. If anyone knows would be much appreciated.
  14. The EOS is a semi professional league however a large chunk of players especially in conferences will be signed on amateur forms or pro non contracts. Unless you are exceptionally talented or play for one of the so called bigger guns the only difference between the standard and leafa is probably pitches and referees/linesmen situation. Whether you like the analogy or not I would say it’s not far off. I think both leagues eos and leafa are great for the region and slate them all you like but it keeps boys playing football in the area and both are generally run well and professionally as possiblez
  15. I didn’t say stand out but definitely play for sure. I would struggle to believe amateur teams in the championship equivalent can pay big bucks to those players, albeit any money. As you’ll maybe know I pay attention to a lot of players moving clubs etc and only a month or two ago, Penicuik signed a player from newcraighall? Also having watched the west barns and Bonnyrigg is expect at least half to move onto eos teams in conference if they wanted to. I don’t know all the politics but just going with what I’ve seen. Sometimes though it’s not about the money when signing for teams.
  16. I don’t want to be drawn on picking sides. Reading this, I feel for dinsey, like him or not he has done a job with limited resources at amateur level, recruiting players etc. He Could easily hack the eos level. Also most of the established leafa teams do have ex junior or eos players playing for them either for work commitments or to play with their mates. I’ve watched Dinseys team this season, and another few games in their league, they, West barns, newcraighall, Bonnyrigg all have a good few players who would easy step up to most eos conference teams. Tollcross who have been mentioned a lot I’d expect to do well at eos conference also. I do support juniors/eos but don’t think there’s any need to disrespect the boys in the amateur level. I’d be shocked if the guy commenting has seen half these teams play.
  17. It’s a shame for craigroyston. I hope they can pull through this. However basically to play semi professional level. The basics for a successful eos team are having a good quality ground (which costs money) and ability to cover match day expenses for their players. Even if club took a non playing membership for a year (crossgates primrose and harthill did in east region juniors) try resolve the finances and try again. I’d hate to see them hit the wall but sadly this costs money and if they don’t have it there’s not much to be done. I hope they receive donations or sponsors to keep them running but it’s looking bleak.
  18. Just putting this wee thread out in case any folk are looking for a new team. I’m happy to help you get one. Cheers folks.
  19. I meant ability wise they could cope with that demand but outside of them the rest would be 100% suited to conferences. It’s fairest they thy do join sh same tier as the current conferences though rather than skip a step.
  20. I spoke to someone the other day and they told me that eos conferences (1st division) is still tier 6 along with premier but if not tier 7 would be appropriate for most barring top 2 from each super league in that region. Hopefully something gets sorted soon
  21. I said the conferences not the premier for that reason. But thanks for clearing that up anyway
  22. That’s friendlies for you, also I’d expect there’s a big difference In the wage structure between both clubs. I’d probably fancy them to beat teams in the EOs conferences though, having watched both leagues this season. I am unsure which tier they’d come in, I’d say tier 6/7 is probably about right though just depends on how the eosfl structure next season.
  23. Yeah that’s an option. And due to the local derbies which have been taking place and also the nostalgia of the junior cup in the communities involved with the teams. However I feel that the move will happen soon and will probably be good for all involved.
