  1. Don't do it to yourself it's Michael Stewart.
  2. Thought when we have used Fenton the last few times he's looked very comfortable tbh. Granted, it's a step up and there's no guarantee he's ready, but not necessarily seen anything to the contrary either.
  3. I wouldn't look too much into that. Whilst it could be said that we've sort of had their number recently (2W's, 3D's since start of last season), it's rarely if ever been comfortable. Airdrie also play a very different game to us, no guarantee that our style yields the same results. Having said that, whilst our record up in Inverness isn't brilliant, I'm feeling reasonably confident. Given how few bad results we've had under McPake and co, we have naturally demonstrated a decent ability to bounce back after one pretty much every time. If Inverness are in a bad spot at the moment, this is a perfect opportunity to make that record a little bit better.
  4. Credit to Raith, a bit of pressure forced us into a very poor mistake for their goal and otherwise kept us at bay all day. Defended with the confidence and solidarity I’d normally expect from us. From our perspective, not enough on our bench to change our fortunes and a lot of huffing and puffing, but a poor outing all things considered. That one will sting for a bit. Was quite disappointed in Byrne’s behaviour whilst Fisher was choking as well. Not befitting of what I’d expect from him, even if he’s wearing a Raith shirt.
  5. You've completely misread me. I'm not saying the effort wasn't there, I'm saying players were lambasted on the regular for not putting in enough regardless of whether they did or not. Chalmers is a perfect example. You're having me on if your suggesting that folk didn't question his workrate that season. I saw folk come out with crap like that almost every week. To reiterate, I'm NOT saying Chalmers didn't work hard enough. I'm saying people scapegoated him for not working hard enough. There's a difference. The point being, McPake and his team turned that perception around, by bringing the best out of Chalmers. I'm not convinced Kennedy isn't capable of the same under the right circumstances, and the right circumstances was never going to be under McGlynn.
  6. Interesting to see people continue to comment on Kennedy in this light, when there's a few players from that period who were similarly scapegoated for being passionless shitebags that couldn't bother their arse, who are now rightfully being lauded for how much they've improved under McPake and co's tutelage. Part of me wonders if it could have been a different story for him, had he been given that same clean slate. Was Kennedy a big diver that frustrated most of us? Aye. Was it glorious to see him continue to not be the answer at Falkirk last season? Absolutely. However, I really do think a big part of his troubles with us are a bit more complex than "He's not good enough". The horrid management we had over the course of the season speaks for itself, and his complete refusal to pass to anyone else most of the time stems largely from that, plus what appeared to be a total lack of trust in the squad... which I can't really blame him for. It feels a world away now but bloody hell we were tragic back then. I can't say it's all that surprising that a character as uninspiring as McGlynn also failed to get the best out of him in the big moments. Don't get me wrong, no danger I'd take him here again, and he's not fit to lace KRH's boots. I still think there's a world where someone finds a player in him though.
  7. Stinking draw for a stinking competition. It's boring enough being drawn against a team in the same league, did it have to be the team we literally just played? At the same venue? Very grim.
  8. Maybe from a couple clueless folk on dotnet who have a go at his work rate but otherwise I'd say most expect good results from him. He can be frustrating at times but providing he stays fit I still expect him to have a very decent tally this season. Calls for a striker come from it being publicly acknowledged that we need more goals in the team from what we had last season, and I'd be surprised if O'Halloran and Summers alone are expected to be the complete solution to that problem. Even if Wotherspoon is a thing (which I am NOT taking for granted), I would have thought a backup striker would still be on the cards.
  9. My understanding is that KRH plays RWB no? Certainly how he described his position in post season review. If I am right, then KRH and Comrie as senior players in that position, plus I think Hoggan can play there on the youth side. I also think Fisher should very much stay in the back 3 but as mentioned there are other players who could fill in, in the event of an emergency. In which case, I’d say I’m happy with the cover we have, just seems light because of KRH’s early injury. Fully agree another natural no. 9 would be very helpful though.
  10. Couldn't agree more, all things considered. Please don't tell me the Raith game is rescheduled though I'll be livid.
  11. Yes of course you got a last minute equaliser against a team with 5 first team players out, 4 to injury and one suspended, and a bench of 4 teenagers and a GK who turned 21 this summer. If you would like to know a few more times I would be delighted to oblige.
  12. What an effort regardless. For us to even be in that position with 4 injuries and a suspension to absolutely massive players for us with rest of the squad the way it is, is nothing short of insane. We're in a very good place. Roll on Raith at EEP.
  13. That team and bench is horrifying. At least it’s a couple weeks before we play again after this.
  14. No one actually claimed this at any point. We're not guff and we don't think you'll walk it. Just sceptical of our chances because our squad isn't finished and has injuries to crucial players. If you're referring to my "pumping" comment after someone joked you were on St. Pauli's level, perhaps it wasn't laced with enough sarcasm.
  15. Saw an article in the courier yesterday suggesting that he'd said his problem with Dundee Utd had little to do with their status in the Championship, and more to do with their location and the inconvenience of his travel. Same article stated he wouldn't be against a championship club, but he wouldn't sign anyone for the sake of it. It had to work for him location wise, and he had to be excited and committed to the project. Could be that if we did offer something, either he feels his heart wouldn't be in it, or the travel would be inconvenient for him.
  16. Lack of options on the bench + the assumption that Utd will control possession for fairly decent spells. We tired against Raith and Killie for similar reasons, in spite of the fact we've competed well against everyone (except St Pauli) this season. Even against Airdrie you could see some were struggling. McCann was clearly burst after that full pitch breakaway, but thankfully we were able to hold out fairly comfortably. Suspect no such comfort will be found at Tannadice, but we'll have to wait and see. Still hopeful myself but I can see why folk have a bit of trepidation.
  17. Tbh, I have absolutely no idea what to expect tomorrow. Don't really have a good gauge of how good Utd really are, and I feel I underestimate us given our injuries and lack of transfer activity in the past few weeks. Compete well but lose seems the obvious choice, but I also have a glimmer of hope. Our guys have consistently surprised me over and over again at how resilient they are since McPake and co. came to the club. Would be nice to get another surprise tomorrow.
  18. Same, provided it's not at our expense I'd much rather they succeeded than others.
