  1. Airdrieonians 1-1 Montrose Clyde 0-0 East Fife Cove Rangers 1-0 Partick Thistle Dumbarton 1-0 Forfar Athletic
  2. Don't see him changing it at all, actually. If Paton wasn't available, then maybe Kerr slots back in, but I doubt it very much. I'm expecting the same again. Maybe he'll start Connell? But then when you make such a good impact off the bench sometimes it cements you as an excellent impact sub rather than get you into the XI.
  3. Collins definitely seemed silly, trying to ignore the fact that the game they had just contested was a cup game where the result is definitely everything (wonder what he was saying after the league cup final the other year that celtic won despite being second best in the game) but Kerr didn't come across as much of a coach with her 'aye but who won the game John?' patter. If memory serves, they were being asked to analyse the gap between the two sides, in which case looking at the performance is a valid part of the discussion. Surprised when they were asking 'who would get in the team from Celtic?' nobody thought to ask what the corresponding answers would have been this time last year. At nothing else it would at least point out the asinine nature of the question itself, and highlighted just how drastic the turnabout has been, and what might have caused the changes on both directions. Would have bene a more nuanced, interesting discussion. Oh aye in fact, it was Sportsound hosted by Kenny McIntyre, so that's why.
  4. Like I said. A remote shot. The chances of such a scenario playing out are self-evidently remote. The inference is obviously that the poster did not think they would ever put women's football at the top of the page if it was not the Old Firm, because they are casting the bbc Scotland sport coverage as Old Firm obsessed. That was the source of their ire and it is quite blatantly obvious. The use of 'wee sisters' is no more and no less dismissive than the sort of terms fans would routinely throw around to refer to the old firm colts. They are having a pop at the media and the prominence they feel is only ever given to the old firm.
  5. They have a remote shot if they win tonight, as they would be relying on a Falkirk-esque collapse from Glasgow City, which seems very unlikely. Fair point about the importance of the second place finish, though. The bolded section is definitely correct, aye. My point was that their irritation seemed to quite clearly be the OF slant they perceived rather than the women's game slant. He was accused of the opposite.
  6. They must win this game to have any realistic prospect, because the chances of Glasgow City losing their 5 point buffer is remote in the extreme, especially with such a superior goal difference. They can put a serious, but not fatal, dent in Rangers by winning the game. Glasgow City will then be firmly in the driving seat. Anything can happen in football, but Celtic are in last chance saloon and would still need multiple slip ups from Glasgow City. You'd firmly expect Glasgow City to win against Hibs. Once again, though, to circle back to the point; the guy you attacked seemed fairly clearly annoyed by what he felt was a focus on the Old Firm. Not a focus on the women's game.
  7. That's fair, albeit Celtic are all but arithmetically out of it; there are two realistic title contenders and neither of them are Celtic. The issue is definitely the prominence given, but whether that prominence is justified on the basis of the fixture or not (it is), the assumption by the original poster was clearly that it was only getting such prominence due to it being an Old Firm women's game, and not an important women's game. It didn't read to me like an anti-women's football post at all, but rather an anti-old firm post. If I read that wrong then the guy is a walloper. Don't think I am, though.
  8. The Women's Game deserves better than to be devalued into yet another old firm wankathon by the media. The guy was clearly moaning about the old firm slant to the coverage. It IS terrible journalism.
  9. With the rats abandoning this particular ship, the cheerleaders in the media seem to have forgotten that they still remain, as ever, rats. I'm shocked. Shocked, I tells ya.
  10. Dawns on me that if Airdrie sneak a win at Thistle and it is a draw at Cove, at 5pm Thistle will have 33 and 2nd, 3rd and 4th will all be on 32. This is bedlam.
  11. Aye, we were all for chucking it after the defeats to Peterhead, yourselves and Cove, but the turn around since then has every one of us sooked right back in. It has been some turn around for both teams, the guy Rudden seems to have lit up at the right time and I always fancied Tiffoney could be a game changing signing. Like our loanee Kyle Turner, far too good for this league. Helps us all that Falkirk have thrown it away, losing their breathing space and then their top spot so quickly. Stunning. Hilarious, anawl.
  12. Partick Thistle 1-2 Airdrieonians Falkirk 2-2 Cove Rangers East Fife 0-1 Dumbarton Peterhead 1-0 Clyde
  13. Thistle a bit of a juggernaut the now, but I would be delighted to spoil the party Saturday. You imagine there might be another twist or two in the league over the run in so here's hoping; we were unfortunate not to get something at Firhill back in the second game of the season and were on top for a good half hour before the game turned in Airdrie, but Thistle did then blow us away and have gone from strength to strength recently. Over the last ten games we've been the two form teams and both on unbeaten runs, so it's all set up. Sneaky 1-2. Hopefully a dodgy penalty to maximise the seething outrage.
  14. Haha sorry, I'd never have remembered that one! Ah good, thanks for reading. I was really pleased with how the Forfar Match report turned out, actually. Not as pleased as I am with that result last night though. Still buzzin' like a second hand fridge.
  15. Hahaha, same man, same. I won't lie, I've been nursing a grudge against that guy ever since that trip, so that was a lovely wee cherry on top.
  16. Absolutely delighted to have fucked East Fife out to let Montrose in, anawl, even if the Mo' are the better side and will be a harder opponent. Partly because Montrose have been decent all season and belong in with us elite clubs (and falkirk). But mostly as a get it right up ye to Darren Young.
  17. Get in there! Better team second half, Gal has hit goalscoring form at the right time, Dale Carrick was at the wind up with that penalty just to make my heart sink before tucking in the rebound and Ian Murray was bamming Young up big time by chucking Stokes and Ritchie on. Should have fired Mbayo on anawl just to rub salt in the wounds. Brilliant. Delighted for them all, great run of form and big improvement in performances since the opening three. Not looked back after coming through that turgid battle at Dumbarton. Playoffs in our own hands and the title is there for us, if we can stop Thistle Saturday. Mon The Diamonds!
  18. It is a made up story, because it is specifically suggesting those three players will be banned from the EUROS in June, which is just... well, made up.
  19. On the one hand, this is a grotesque move, one which is a complete anathema to sporting merit. On the other... These clubs will start treating the epl, la liga and serie A with the same disregard they already treat their domestic cups? Struggling to care about that. The precious 'greatest league in the world' will be undermined and embarrassed? Struggling to care about that. UEFA will be hurt because their precious champions league will be undermined? Struggling to care about that. EUFA are gazumped by a group of clubs taking the pre-existing direction of travel instigated by EUFA themselves one step further by making it a literal closed shop rather than just stacking the deck to favour the 'elite' clubs? Struggling to care about that. Sky will be hurt by said undermining of epl and could well pump less money into it? That would actually be fucking excellent. I can see why EUFA, Sky, the epl and supporters of those clubs are upset, for sure. It is also astonishingly funny watching these very same organisations and broadcasters bemoaning bare-faced greed and elitism. Necks of solid brass. The hypocrisy is transparent and the meltdown has been quite hilarious to watch. Overall, a bit of a mixed bag, then.
  20. Airdrieonians 3-0 East Fife Dumbarton 1-1 Partick Thistle Forfar Athletic 0-0 Clyde Montrose 1-1 Cove Rangers Peterhead 0-1Falkirk
  21. We hoping for a draw between Thistle and Montrose on Thursday, then? Anything that Peterhead can get at East Fife would be a bonus as well, albeit EF have been strong at home all season (encouragingly for Tuesday they have been howlin' away from home)
  22. Hahaha yeah you were spot on with that. I do feel sorry for him in a way, in that he has been quite unlucky; he scores a good goal against Thistle and is only a miraculous save away from scoring a double before they go down the park and change the game. He was denied a goal again last night by a brilliant bit of goalkeeping and then a goal-line clearance, a goal which again would have made it 2-0 and secured the points early doors. It's also worth pointing out that we don't score our first goal Vs Falkirk if he doesn't put the pressure on their keeper, who then palms it right to Roy. The guy isn't a defender, lacks the positional awareness which can and has hurt us and can be wasteful in possession. He is a goal threat (he had two good chances to score himself V falkirk, one blazed over and one shot right at the goalie) and I think his decent pace and willingness to get forward has pushed the left side of the oppositions back at times during his games on that basis because they know he's going forward at decent pelt so can't leave him, but there are better players who really ought to have his place in the XI.
