  1. Its a bold argument to make at the start of September that none of our strikers will hit 15 goals so we should be panic signing the likes of Greig Spence. Especially when one of our strikers hasn't played a single game yet and we've only gone 1 game without scoring at least once. How many goals had Lyle Taylor or Rory Loy scored when they signed? Its still very possible 2 from Keena, Ruth and Morrison will score 15+ this season.
  2. Its a ridiculous debate. If we'd signed 36 year old Liam Buchanan this place would have (rightly) gone into meltdown. We had a lot of experience last year (Miller, Gomis, Sammon, L.Miller etc) and that didn't exactly work. We've been screaming out for young, pacey fresh legs for the last 3 years and now have to give that a chance. Confident Ruth will turn out well - if he doesn't then questions will arise over whether maybe all signings should be left to Holt instead of Sheerin...
  3. "Good luck with the shower of jobbers we have signed. Outside the two full backs we have not improved the squad" "This squad couldn’t stuff a fucking turkey" "I don’t need to watch them to see at the moment the squad is a mile off" Hmmm...
  4. Sheerin saying he can play out wide too so potentially competition for McGuffie as well as Keena
  5. Exactly. So far this season there have been far more positives than negatives but you wouldn't think it on here. Even on the striker front its clear from his interviews Sheerin knows this and is trying to get someone in (I'm assuming the two he lost out on at the start of last week were Reilly and Shaw). Its highly unlikely we'll not have a new striker in by the end of September and hopefully another loan signing or two as well. Morrison already has 5 this season and if he stays fit should hit 15+
  6. Everyone who is disagreeing that on form so far we are the best team in the league. Unless its Montrose of course we all think are far better which there may actually be more of an argument for given we haven't played them yet.
  7. Only if you choose to wilfully ignore the fact that we've played the supposed Top 3 rivals. Cove after 0 days training post Covid, Airdrie where we strolled it until going down to 10 men and still won and QP where we completely outplayed them and are unlikely to be so unlucky over another 90mins this season. Also we still haven't managed to start a game with more than 2 of our first choice back 4 who we know will improve us further. Of course none of this is a guarantee we'll stroll the league but judging the games and teams so far, what exactly do you fear about QP & Cove so much?
  8. 3 of which were penalties. Morrison has scored more from open play. Again not saying we don't need another striker but the manic desire of some on here to make out we're worse than Cove & QP have been so far is baffling.
  9. No evidence apart from the actual games which I guess you're still not bothering to watch. Not much between us and Airdrie? A team we beat with 10 men whose other league results have been a 3 nil defeat to Montrose, a hard fought 3 points against Peterhead and a draw with Dumbarton. I mean honestly.. I'm not saying we're not going to drop points but on the evidence of the games so far we're the best team in the league. Yes, we need a striker (thats obvious) and we need to steer clear of injuries to our best players but at this moment in time we're not watching M&M or McKinnon standards of sh*te. My opinion may change if we descend into that but can only go on the league games I've seen so far and I've seen nothing to suggest QP or Cove are "miles" better than us as one poster keeps belting out.
  10. We haven't played a single team in the league yet who look better than us. 9 times out of 10 the way we played against QP is good enough to win. Still very confident we'll win the league comfortably. Don't disagree we need another striker but expect us to win games without one against the dross we're up against most weeks.
  11. Megginson and Murray are good players. McAllister is past it and even Cove fans don't rate McIntosh. Telfer, Morrison, Dixon, Williamson (the good one) and Nesbitt are better than QP or Cove have in those positions which is why we're not done for in this league.
  12. Another strange one was Kjartan Finnbogason - banged them in for Reykjavik after leaving us and got a move to Ferencvaros but useless at us.
  13. One of the greatest mysteries of all time how Wallner wasn't given a run. Went on to play 60 times for RB Salzburg as well as LASK and RB Leipzig but couldn't get a game ahead of Carl Finnigan and Graham Barrett.
  14. 1. The NB £550k has been done to death, give it a rest 2. We have absolutely no idea why Reilly went to Morton. A chance to score goals in the championship perhaps/old connections/closer to home? Us not affording the wages is pure speculation. Another case of everyone working themselves up about something that probably isn't even true (like the Arbroath debacle) 3. We were never (to my knowledge) in for Simon Murray, Billy McKay or McManus and in any case and why would the latter 2 drop to League 1 with the offers they had. Murray under contract at Queens 4. Gullan will head back to Raith surely now that Vaughan is injured. 5. Morrison has 5 goals already this season
  15. I was. They were poor but mostly because we played well and didn't give them a sniff especially 2nd half.
  16. Would be more concerned if we weren't creating chances. Keena had an off day and both Ross & Morrison could (should) have had 2 each. Murray will have plenty off days too. Would back Keena and Morrison to both score 15+ if they stay fit.
  17. I'd agree with you if Saturday had been anything like last seasons M&M defeats or McKinnon and Hartley gutless performances but we could easily have won that 3 or 4 nil on another day. All the luck was against us and these days happen, it doesn't mean we've suddenly become a poor team. Hence the knicker wetting comment which reading the last 5/6 pages is wholly justified. Let's give it a few more games before we hit the panic button or at least wait till we've actually played poorly. Given the change in tone since Saturday I can only assume a lot of posters didn't actually go to or watch the game. QP were honking for most of that match while Cove lost to Clyde. Yes we need a striker but I'm confident Sheerin realises that and one will be in on loan soon. At this moment we're the best team in this league even without the back up striker. And didn't we win the game before Saturday 3 nil. No goals in the team? Edited - Cove lost to Clyde, not Dumbarton
  18. Jeez lots of wet knickers this afternoon.. Sheerin openly said in his post match interview he's planning to bring in 2 loans before that window shuts.
  19. McGuffie will have games where he is effective I think and others where he's anonymous. If it let's us play Nesbitt in the centre and drop Ross then that might be fine. Sheerin said he was looking to get 2 in as loans by the end of September so have to hope a striker is one of those. Don't mind the young boys going on loan. Most of the lowland league is on a par if not better than League 2.
  20. Genuinely interested in what you saw from Keena yesterday that impressed you (other than getting unwittingly slammed from the back by the massive QP defender for the penalty)? I like him but he has to show much more than he did yesterday imo. Normally his hold up play is much better but he couldn't get near the ball. Sheerin clearly agrees or he'd have stayed on.
  21. I guess there was always likely to be a backlash against the good start we've made as soon as we (inevitably) dropped points at some stage. I really don't think there is too much to worry about yet though. The performance yesterday was night and day v an M&M game last season. We dominated QP throughout and were completely out of luck with the disallowed goals and the penalty. How Seb Ross missed the target with that header is a complete mystery too. I'd be concerned if we'd been outplayed or failed to create anything but that was far from the case. Some underperformers for sure but no reason for panic yet. Also I think Sheerin was saying in his interview that we shouldn't expect anyone in by Tuesday but he did say he hopes to get 2 loans in before the end of September.
  22. Really don't understand what game those who are praising Keena were watching today. He was very poor and was rightly hooked though as everyone knows we're lacking a decent option to come on for him and doesn't sound like we'll have one soon. Would also have kept Dowds over Wilson/Ompreon but that ships sailed. Keena never once attacked the front post or got in front of his man - so frustrating to watch as I don't think its lack of ability, he just needs a major kick up the a*se. A few tactical errors today - Nesbitt out wide left in place of McGuffie was a terrible decision - he needs to be through the middle in the 10 role. As someone else said, would also have played Krasniqi in place of Seb Ross and pushed Telfer further forward. Yet to see why everyone was slavering over McCanns attacking threat when he signed. To end on a positive, I thought Gary Miller was excellent today and didn't put a foot wrong, neither did Dixon. And when the dust settles, we really would have won that game 9 times out of 10. Didn't see what was wrong with Morrisons disallowed effort (and what a ball by Nesbitt), had 14 shots to 4, missed a penalty and another disallowed. Not our day and move on. Also QP didn't look particularly good (Murray aside).
