  1. One of the greatest mysteries of all time how Wallner wasn't given a run. Went on to play 60 times for RB Salzburg as well as LASK and RB Leipzig but couldn't get a game ahead of Carl Finnigan and Graham Barrett.
  2. 1. The NB £550k has been done to death, give it a rest 2. We have absolutely no idea why Reilly went to Morton. A chance to score goals in the championship perhaps/old connections/closer to home? Us not affording the wages is pure speculation. Another case of everyone working themselves up about something that probably isn't even true (like the Arbroath debacle) 3. We were never (to my knowledge) in for Simon Murray, Billy McKay or McManus and in any case and why would the latter 2 drop to League 1 with the offers they had. Murray under contract at Queens 4. Gullan will head back to Raith surely now that Vaughan is injured. 5. Morrison has 5 goals already this season
  3. I was. They were poor but mostly because we played well and didn't give them a sniff especially 2nd half.
  4. Would be more concerned if we weren't creating chances. Keena had an off day and both Ross & Morrison could (should) have had 2 each. Murray will have plenty off days too. Would back Keena and Morrison to both score 15+ if they stay fit.
  5. I'd agree with you if Saturday had been anything like last seasons M&M defeats or McKinnon and Hartley gutless performances but we could easily have won that 3 or 4 nil on another day. All the luck was against us and these days happen, it doesn't mean we've suddenly become a poor team. Hence the knicker wetting comment which reading the last 5/6 pages is wholly justified. Let's give it a few more games before we hit the panic button or at least wait till we've actually played poorly. Given the change in tone since Saturday I can only assume a lot of posters didn't actually go to or watch the game. QP were honking for most of that match while Cove lost to Clyde. Yes we need a striker but I'm confident Sheerin realises that and one will be in on loan soon. At this moment we're the best team in this league even without the back up striker. And didn't we win the game before Saturday 3 nil. No goals in the team? Edited - Cove lost to Clyde, not Dumbarton
  6. Jeez lots of wet knickers this afternoon.. Sheerin openly said in his post match interview he's planning to bring in 2 loans before that window shuts.
  7. McGuffie will have games where he is effective I think and others where he's anonymous. If it let's us play Nesbitt in the centre and drop Ross then that might be fine. Sheerin said he was looking to get 2 in as loans by the end of September so have to hope a striker is one of those. Don't mind the young boys going on loan. Most of the lowland league is on a par if not better than League 2.
  8. Genuinely interested in what you saw from Keena yesterday that impressed you (other than getting unwittingly slammed from the back by the massive QP defender for the penalty)? I like him but he has to show much more than he did yesterday imo. Normally his hold up play is much better but he couldn't get near the ball. Sheerin clearly agrees or he'd have stayed on.
  9. I guess there was always likely to be a backlash against the good start we've made as soon as we (inevitably) dropped points at some stage. I really don't think there is too much to worry about yet though. The performance yesterday was night and day v an M&M game last season. We dominated QP throughout and were completely out of luck with the disallowed goals and the penalty. How Seb Ross missed the target with that header is a complete mystery too. I'd be concerned if we'd been outplayed or failed to create anything but that was far from the case. Some underperformers for sure but no reason for panic yet. Also I think Sheerin was saying in his interview that we shouldn't expect anyone in by Tuesday but he did say he hopes to get 2 loans in before the end of September.
  10. Really don't understand what game those who are praising Keena were watching today. He was very poor and was rightly hooked though as everyone knows we're lacking a decent option to come on for him and doesn't sound like we'll have one soon. Would also have kept Dowds over Wilson/Ompreon but that ships sailed. Keena never once attacked the front post or got in front of his man - so frustrating to watch as I don't think its lack of ability, he just needs a major kick up the a*se. A few tactical errors today - Nesbitt out wide left in place of McGuffie was a terrible decision - he needs to be through the middle in the 10 role. As someone else said, would also have played Krasniqi in place of Seb Ross and pushed Telfer further forward. Yet to see why everyone was slavering over McCanns attacking threat when he signed. To end on a positive, I thought Gary Miller was excellent today and didn't put a foot wrong, neither did Dixon. And when the dust settles, we really would have won that game 9 times out of 10. Didn't see what was wrong with Morrisons disallowed effort (and what a ball by Nesbitt), had 14 shots to 4, missed a penalty and another disallowed. Not our day and move on. Also QP didn't look particularly good (Murray aside).
  11. I don't think we've seen enough of either of them yet to fully form a view. Krasniqi looks very assured while Hetherington is unspectacular and less obvious on the pitch (because he's not 7ft 9) but breaks things up well. Don't forget he was part of the team that went 2 nil up in the first place before his rush of blood to the head. I think Hetherington will come back in but Krasniqi is banging hard on the door.
  12. Would also prefer a partner for Keena. We're unlikely to be able to bring anyone able to cover Morrison or Nesbitt to the same standard so may need a change to 442 if either of those two end up being out for any length of time.
  13. You also believed that the team were 'miles of the pace' before even bothering to see them play though so we can probably take that with a pinch of salt
  14. So basically the proposal was rejected because it would change the decision making structure and the existing board found that to be unworkable. Sounds like you're pretty much confirming what I said? Or are you saying that before NB came along the board & Rawlins had no existing plan for the club whatsoever? C'mon. Its pretty clear that they saw the NB as a threat to their decision making ability. You can furnish yourself with all the nitty gritty of it you like but fundamentally the reason the suggested new structure wasn't accepted was because the existing board looked at it and decided they felt they were better off staying as is.
  15. It was obvious at the time and is now that the investment was rejected to avoid scuppering the plans that the Rawlins etc had for the club. It wasn't a donation as they wanted representation and large say in decision making. While its early days, those plans are starting to show and the vast majority so far have been positive. Fingers crossed that continues. I appreciate a few on here are pals with the Navy Blue Group but there is nothing to suggest 10 fans with zero experience of running a football club would have done a better job than the Rawlins. Every day on here proves how reactionary our fans can be and I believe the NVB initially wanted rid of Holt (which, although I'm not a fan, in restropect would have most likely delayed the development squads launch and also a say in the manager choice which may have led to us not appointing Sheerin). Hopefully over time the positives will continue and the fans group can find a way to make a similar level of investment without risk of the progress being derailed.
  16. Appointed the right management team Coaching staff appointed look decent New CEO appointed with excellent reputation Improved social media updates & communication New partnership with Greaves sport New scout appointed McGivern in as commercial manager Sensible access to PPV and ST streaming Reasonably well handled Covid ticketing prior to restrictions Section of stand allocated to those shielding or at higher risk Differences sorted with CI A special acknowledgement and send off for Alex Totten That's off the top of my head but fair I think to say that things off the field are certainly improving and to suggest otherwise sounds a bit petty tbh. There's a feel good factor emerging around Falkirk again and after the last few years we should enjoy it while it lasts.
  17. With every passing week its becoming more likely that we're back on track on and off the field and the players and coaching staff certainly deserve support so hopefully not many now staying away. Prolonged injury to either Nesbitt, Morrison or Telfer could derail us but good to see the likes of Krasniqi and Ross come in and do well.
  18. Have to remember Keena is only 21/22 so signing Reilly takes the pressure off him having to start every week.
  19. I think Seb Ross, Weekes and Krasniqi are as much cover as we're going to see for the midfield. Krasniqi to step in for Hetherington, Weekes to cover the wings and Ross to cover Telfer/Nesbitt. I don't think Sheerin is the type to automatically recall Hetherington if Krasniqi steps in and stands out. captain or not.
  20. I agree with the sentiment here but I think the reality will be quite a low turnout if we organise a game against Hibs or Chelsea B (or C) teams. If we're going to honour Crunchie by playing a game with the current squad then better to do it at a league game and try to add a few 00s onto the gate then do the official opening at half time. A bit like a more official 'Latapy Day' If going down the route of a separate game then maybe a legends match would be more appealing for folk to come and watch. Falkirk legends v a Hibs & Chelsea legends select for example. A bit like the Andy Nicol game where there are some really big names (albeit we'd only get older guys now). People would turn out I'm sure to see some of the best names we had playing with Crunchie v a team of folk like Pat Nevin, Steve Clarke etc. Great this initiative is finally happening though - well deserved recognition for the wee man.
  21. If you'e being very generous to Holt you'd say in 7 months we've restarted 2 x development teams and employed a whole new backroom team (including Sheerin and Grainger who Holt would have been involved in identifying/interviewing) with what seems at this point much improvement on previous years. Signings by Holt pre Sheerin have by and large been good for this league based on what we've seen so far too. Negatives are his attitude and bizarre comments when taking over from M&M and on the meet the board Zoom meeting. He'd argue neither are what he was brought in to do. Personally I'm not convinced by him but looking at the facts to date, its hard to completely write off his involvement in the good things that seem to be happening when he effectively runs the football dept.
  22. Looking really positive on the development front. Ian Fergus comes across well and seems to know what he wants and needs. Good luck to him!
  23. Suspect (& hope) Wilson costing next to nothing and contract heavily dependent on appearances and goals. Would go with same team as Saturday unless McKay or Williamson are fit.
