Its not massively obvious from the highlights angle but it apparently got a deflection, carrying it into the corner when it was initially going wherd he knelt down.

It did take a deflection, my son was a ball boy standing right behind the goal and he said it took a deflection. My initial thought as well was the keeper  could have done better with it,

I don't think Morrison made a meal out of any of the fouls. The ref gave the decision each time so whether he made a meal of them or not Taggart should have been booked for persistent fouling.

Perhaps taggs did deserve to get booked as theyre was about 4 fouls against him in quick succession that on another day you'd be in the book, although I wouldn't say any were really bad tackles and morrison makes a meal out of these  with his dramatic actions,

Theyre was also a tackle by nesbitt on scougall in the middle of the park just before he went off thst if scougall hadn't read it he could have been seriously injured, referee never even spoke to him, im not saying it was a red but I've seen referee's give them out for similar tackles, im surprised no ones mentioned it, The referee had bad decisions for both teams. The refereeing standards are  very poor

  3. I think our priority should be a defensive centre midfielder, Robbo looks very laboured to me these days, he's maybe playing through injury though,

There was talk at start of season about Liam Brown from Queen's Park and I see hes not had much action this season, He started a loan at stennie but didn't last long, always thought he looked a decent player

  4. Thought dunfermline were very lucky to get the win today, Alloa certainly deserved something out of it.

Thought it was a clear penalty for the pull on sammon, he had no need to go down as he was getting away from the defender,

No sure what was wrong with Robbo today but I thought his presence was missed in there as King and Millar are a bit lightweight and it was always a risk  playing Durnan who didn't look 100% fit

The keeper could have done better for the goal but it was a total fluke and just caught him out of position. Impressed again with Stanger and I think he is capable of playing at a higher level,he has all the attributes to be a good defender.

Why do we sign a back up keeper like Hogarth when we have Burt? No encouragement for our academy and we develop kids for Sevco. Millar I get, keepers is an entirely different proposition. Rant over.

Do you think hogarth will be the back up keeper, I think Muir has come on the scene  after they've committed to the hogarth deal and they may not have went with hogarth if muir had come about earlier,  jmo

From the latest piece in the Advertiser a goalie is lined up on loan too:

I heard he's on a pre season tour with an spl team and will be back from that next week and joining up,

Need a centre half as well if it turns out Durnan will miss 3 months of the season with fire service training.

Echo your thoughts entirely, given the budget DY has at disposal, clearly one the the best in this League, I would have though recruitment would not be a problem.

Lets hope things start to move quickly on the squad front before the start of the season.

Took in the game last night and thought at times stirling were knocking the ball about well without a real cutting edge and Alloa took chances. If you're gonna rely on Robert Thompson getting you goals I think you'll struggle as he's nvr been prolific, although can do a job with someone beside him,  he's a bit like Connor sammon In that respect

I was impressed by the number 10 for Albion,

Any idea who the Alloa trialists are? I’d imagine we’ll be sniffing about your trialist cast offs that don’t manage to win a deal. Couple of decent finishes from the #10!

Earlier post says the no 10 was Bradley Rodden who has been playing for Rossvale, couple o good finishes but I didn't think he offered much more, I thought the no 11 looked tidy enough,

Was quite impressed by the colts no12

Not as impressed as you with the no 10 but  Colts number 12 looks better .

I'm with you , I wasn't over impressed with no 10 although he finished well for his 2nd goal, I  thought no 11 looked OK and was always available for a pass and moved the ball about well

Yes I thought colts no 12 looked decent

Steven Boyd, what can we expect? Never heard of him before it was announced he’d signed

My opinion of boyd is he can do so much good on the ball and totally make an arse off the end product, this happened far too often last season for me, he's very quick, skillfull and direct though but final pass sadly lacks. I think he'll struggle at top end of championship

Personally I feel Scrougall is not consistent enough, this maybe down to being played out of position, injuries and of course the behaviour of the previous manager. He has a magnificent footballing cv to live up to.
Howie has not shown me enough for an offer a contract and the two sending offs show a considerable lack of maturity.

Unfortunately for yourself you'll propably be stuck with scougall for another year unless some one makes an offer alloa can't refuse,

I can't believe you don't see him as an integral part of the team, he's been our best player since Brian Rice came in, you just had to be at the game on Saturday to see as soon as he went off we fell out the game and stopped creating chances

Only looked at the Score at the weekend and didn't notice we had a sending off.  Still had to go back to the match reports to see who it was that was red carded as "bombscare" doesn't really narrow it down for me.

I actually thought the bombscare he's referred to  had a good game on Saturday and was probs you're best defender,

It was never a sending off, another terrible decision by poor officials and not the first this season

  13. If alloa play the way they did until the sending off on Saturday I think they can  win, and keep 11 men on the park 🙉

Alot of these boys played as if a huge weight had been lifted off their shoulders and it was refreshing to hear some positive encouragement from the bench  for a change

Contrary to popular belief they're not bad guys who wanted to run the club into the ground. To me, Barry and Bob were always professional but it certainly wasn't working on the park. You can be honest and say they were never popular from the beginning and that definitely contributed to the standoff between fans and management.

Every time we get a new manager I half expect the next Paulo Di Canio, some kind of exceptionalist who is always emotionally charged and has everyone on tenterhooks. I'm always relieved when it's pleasant and professional.

Will we be getting a return of the A Team music now Barry's away or was that just false talk that he put a stop it

Its the first thing my son asked when he knew he was gone 🙈

Would never put myself through the indignity of listening to or reading anything that gobshite has to say, but I think its pretty much a given that he'll deflect blame onto the players and the fans. I'll have "I'm more suited to managing better players at the top end of leagues" in my Barry's Bullshit Bingo card for the next week.

We'll also have to endure his media buddies all bitching about how Alloa didnt give him enough time and he fought valiantly in an uphill task because fans didnt take to him due to his Rangers connections blah, blah, blah.

Strangely, it wouldnt surprise me at all if he somehow talked his way into the QotS or Queen's Park job.

The resignation thing is merely a term used to save face for him and it may be easier in the future for him to get a job without another sacking on his CV, But  the truth is he was sacked and not before time,

Indeed, the manager just seems to shoehorn players in with no obvious reasoning.

Dropping Cawley is always a mistake IMO (assuming he is fit), but doing so on what would be his 400th appearance (a genuinely tremendous achievement) is just dreadful man management and lacks class. Remember he did the same thing for Robbo's 200th. It's almost like it is deliberate to show he's the boss. What a fanny.

Final straw for me and he has to go now.

Youre right awful man management, ill bet there was some award set up for Kevin as well which no doubt would be put on hold, how does he expect players to be playing for him with acts like this,

The inclusion of Mendy for Andy Graham is another and nothing that happens now surprises me as its almost like he's saying its my ball and ill decide who plays,

Three of them need to go including Paddy Connolly, id think more of him if he came out and said I can't work with these muppets anymore
