Back 4 with McCrorie at RB again?

Also Hayes at LB?  Otherwise our exciting attacking new brand of football involves only two centre-backs in defence.  I mean, I know it's common to sub the goalie for an attacking player in ice hockey toward the end of the game if you're losing...

For me absolutely, I have zero desire to see to Keane anywhere near us and he has done absolutely nothing to deserve being part of the conversation.

Maresca would be a gamble also however he was highly regarded at West Ham by the players and in the city setup he will be expected to embed Peps philosophy into the development squad so that transition to the first team is seamless, I don’t imagine for a second that will be easy either which says to me this is a guy who can coach.

There is also the added benefit of him not being Irish, an ex player or in any way Celtic minded.

Aye, anyone who has been managed by both Brian Clough & Alex Ferguson & came away from those experiences believing that tactics weren't important is a massive red flag.  I'd imagine Sky & the sports editors' ideal appointment would be Keane, going on the Man U/Liverpool, Keane/Gerrard dynamics.

Andy Goram and Neil Lennon walk into a bar . Barman says, "Swally, swally, we will swally vodka, Andy ?" Andy nods. Barman turns to Neil. "Its a grand old team to drink for, Neil ?" .  " It most certainly is !", replies Neil in an Oliver Hardy stylee.. It is then the story becomes hazy.....

Bonus point for pairing 'Oliver Hardy' & 'stylee' together. Must be the first time in history this has happened.

The evidence is clear for all to see.

Anyway, getting the thread back on topic, there are a few rumours about Fergal Harkin being appointed DoF very shortly. Will presumably have an impact on the manager search.

Might not be a popular decision in the short term if it means Celtic miss out on Howe (there’s no guarantee that it would, but he seems to have his own ideas there), but I think it’s the right one. Your sporting director is more important than 2-3 years of a manager. If you believe in a guy, get him in no matter what.

Agreed. It makes logical sense to get the DoF in first, as they would presumably be responsible for the footballing ethos and would hire a manager to execute that vision. I might be remembering this incorrectly, but was Harkin not paired with Keane in previous rumours?

I don't actually like Considine at centre half. Unpopular opinion I've always thought he was a better left back than centre half and his time as a left back has came to an end. At some point, to be determined,  in 2021 he will need to be phased out of the team.

Considine is a bit of a conundrum at the moment. He has competition at left back from Mackenzie and, competition from Hoban, Taylor and possibly McCrorie at centre half.

As much as it would give me the fear to see Taylor instructed to play it out from the back, opponents seem to be finding a way through the centre of our defence during the past two games, which Taylor usually nullifies with his arial presence, more so than Considine.

A 'retired goalkeeper' who shall remain nameless, did an appearance at a golf club with another few of his ex team mates.

The retired goalkeeper got a bit the worse for wear quite early on, and when they were posing for photos with the assembled audience, the retired goalkeeper always managed to find his paw resting on some birds tit or arse and also ended up with gob and beer dribbles down his shirt.  Allegedly offered a couple of young lassies the chance of a quickie in the locker room, but I didn't witness that bit, so can't vouch for the accuracy.

Pat Bonner won't thank you for sharing that.

No printed scarves but Paw is looking for his "United scarf", the DAB.

ETA unless that's Cox's Stack in the background and he's a secret Lochee United fan. Two along the left from Paw is Ronnie Reagan oddly enough.

I seem to remember one story from the WWII reprint annuals where Joe & Hen were arguing as one supported Celtic & the other Rangers.  Could be wrong.

I genuinely that was a symptom of the team dallying on the ball and then giving it to Joe. The opposition were now all comfortable set in their positions and any long pass from the keeper becomes low percentage.

Agree with you on the three of them playing the ball about. It's a different story with the younger guys though. Campbell, Ramsay and MacKenzie are all very comfortable on the ball in tight spaces which is a testament to the coaching at youth level.

Aye. There was folk on afc-chat who were at school with him.

Don't believe you, there's no way anyone on afc-chat ever went to school.
