He wasn’t on the scoresheet as much but he had absolutely no service from that horrendous midfield for large parts of the season. He’ll still be dangerous but it’s a case of AJ helping him out by signing some half decent players who can help him out.

Have you been living under a rock during this pandemic????? We will have to except what team we have on the park for the next few years due to Covid-19.

This is just the tip of the iceberg and job loses in DG will be through the roof when Furlough is finished, never thought i would sy this but thank god the chairman didnt sign any-players

  2. Have to admit if Darvel are found to have flaunted the rules 3 times and have played a friendly match during this lockdown, then the Scottish Government  should come down as hard as possible..... Remember the pie man has received Government help during this pandemic  and i wonder if Ms sturgeon might be asking for it back

Not all clubs cancelled their training tonight...

Please tell me you are joking?????? if any club is found to be training after the announcement today and after the cluster in Aberdeen they deserve to lose all privileges they receive!!! saying that instead of speculating how about you mention said clubs??

Looking at the news IE Covid-19 and the latest stance from the Scottish Government on the continue lack of respect teams are paying

this pandemic do we actually believe the South of Scotland league will start in October?

And also what happens when wave 2 comes and  local lock-down starts!!

horrible feeling we might not see any prolonged football until a vaccine is found

Gutted!!  Seems the SG has cancelled all training for adults until 28th Aug at the earliest

Think the league should maybe think about taken a year out

Its a long time till the Championship starts many things could happen, by then, possible pause of top league then restart you just couldn't make it up.. Players need to have more sense.....

You Honestly think its only the players that need to have more sense???

The Aberdeen outbreak had one person visit 8 pubs in the area and jumped on a bus and travelled 35 miles to a house party in Montrose, at this said party there was over 30 guests. At the end of the day every human-being has a responsibility to try and give Scotland the best chance of pulling through this.

Next few weeks are massive schools returning full-time means kids mingling and returning to homes where parents, families stay or visit. Its not hard to imagine a huge spike in cases with this alone, never mind the re-opening of pubs etc.

Its hold your breath time!! but if i was a betting man i would say we will not see a prolonged spell of Scottish football until a cure is found

    Who is Goss ?

Tommy Goss, Signed for Queens last year before being loaned back to Abbey Vale!! Boy is young and certainly didn't look out of place when playing a few reserve games this year. Totally worth a shot next year, lad is 6ft 6 but is surprisingly good with the ball at his feet.

Only worry i have for these younger lads is will Queens have a reserve team next year??

Have you seen the Scottish Sun’s report on the matter? It clearly states that the police who attended St Mary’s had confirmed that the youths involved were not part of the St Cuthbert’s team.

Sorry TamScobie i had promised no to get involved back on this subject!! all i would say is that the League is looking into the FB statement, but also the replies from a committee member and there players  in there very own group chat on Whats-App about the said incident....( have a look you can even see the messages and replies Ops) Its clear to see from the Chat that unless these boys have been released they certainly ARE SAID TEAMS PLAYERS!! Anyway that's me done replying to this as i am sure the truth will be out soon. Anyway i am sure everyone will be bursting to go when Football returns hopefully by the end of the year or the start of 2021 (fingers crossed)

We’re delighted that several people have signed up for the QOS TANNER FUND over the last few days and can’t thank you enough for getting involved with an idea that’s going to make a difference to the managers playing budget.

Remember that every single penny raised is EXTRA funds for the manager to use and something both him and the club will greatly appreciate.

Was all for the Tanner fund when it was first mentioned!! but now i have real concerns on how this can work in Dumfries and Galloway.

Covid-19 will have a huge impact on the financial aspect within D&G, many companies are suffering big time which will impact on there employees, looking at the Standard its a crippling blow if Gates make redundancies and also change there shift patterns as many of these workers regular  visit and spend there hard earned cash at Queens. For the next few years people will be having to cut there cloth accordingly and would think Football on a Sat will be the first luxury to go, couple that with the fact a lot of the youth teams that use the Arena are now looking at cost cutting and  potentially not using the arena!! these Dark days might just be enough to break the camels back and send Queens back into the doldrums.

It’s realise and you’re fooling no one ! Do you actually know there was any training session or are you just ‘jumping in foot first’ to coin your phrase ?

im nit defending anyone if the guidelines have been broken but surely social media posts raising ‘concerns’ aren’t the way forward , why don’t you contact the Club directly ! Why bring politics into this , what’s your point exactly here other than your so called concern for a potential breach of guidelines ?

Thanks for the spelling lesson, i will come back with the i'm Not rather than im nit and also the space before your question marks.... Anyway i feel we are getting no where fast. I didn't join P&B to argue and bring politics into the chat so for that i apologise, on the part of a club training you are right it shouldn't be mentioned on a fans forum,  i would fully expect the league committee to  have already looked into the allegations and we should leave it in there more than capable hands.

Anyway lets get back to discussing the South Football and hope that we can all enjoy a game of fitba in 2020 or when ever it will restart!! and i look forward to Newton continuing there fine run of form that seen uses undefeated in  2020

    Training/cutting grass/ painting .started last night .

    Oh yes it did  .

I honestly struggle to see why people find this as a bit of a joke?? our Country is probably facing it worst recession ever, many people losing loved ones and also the real threat of massive job cuts!!!

The bigger question should be was that even there first training session or have they even flaunted the laws prior to that.

  12. 1 hour ago, AML67 said:

Ah the old ‘late to the party’ nonsense when in reality you simply made this account to have a pop at Saints and have these allegations against them been proven or is it simply a grievance you have with the St Mary’s Club ? I’m defending no one here by the way just curious as to your motive !

Against Saints?? If you read my post rather than jumping in foot first you would relies I have never even mentioned a team, surely you have also looked at there statement on there FB page and then seen the comments along with the What's-App  chat where a well known gentleman has mentioned that the police had even visited his home!! to which there seems to be utter shock by a few of the players to  why training is to be cancelled...  As for a grievance?? I certainly do have an issue with any team breaking the laws and potentially putting life's at risk, and am sure you would feel the same way if Newton had training going on behind everyone's back.

As for not defending anyone!! I am sure you understand the importance of trying to eradicate this Virus and ensure that a second waive does not hit our beautiful country, or are you another one of these that buries there head in the sand and feel that the SNP are doing a bad job in controlling Covid-19??

  13. I know i am late to the party- but i would just like to wish all clubs the very best and good luck in the new West of Scotland League.

It will have been a hard decision for a lot of clubs to have left the Junior scene after so long, but i know feel uses all have an opportunity to show case how good the level of football was!!  and i am sure it wont be long until we see teams sailing up through the divisions.

    All the Best.

  14. Been a long time reader of Pie and Bovril, but decided to take the plunge to join ( lock down).

During this Covid-19 Pandemic it was good to hear that Junior Teams had agreed to join the new West of Scotland League.

But now this has been totally over shadowed by the news that a certain team within the South of Scotland league has broken the Governments guidance  along with the Guidance set out to all  Football clubs within Scotland by the SFA!!!

Now i  understand that lock-down has taken its toll on everyone, but how disgraceful is it that a licence club who continue to receive financial backing from the SFA and also financial Covid-19 grants to tie them over until football in the south resumes, whilst the rest of the none member clubs within the league receive nothing would have the gall to organise training.

Now i understand nothing has been proven but feel that if there has been laws broken then the punishment needs to be severe and swift, remember these clubs went cap in hand begging for money, also there are families and love ones out there that are continuing to self isolate until the end of July 2020 because of the real threat to human life. The SFA will  investigate these claims as they have a duty of care to ensure all clubs adhere to there laws.

The sobering fact in all this...... what where the chairman and the committee of the club thinking, but also i sincerely hope the manager was not there as it certainly wouldn't look good in his current role being at the forefront of fighting this Virus....  Rant Over.
