  1. I thought Budapest was overrated. There are some nice old buildings but the pubs and restaurants just seemed tacky.

Szimpla Kert, the famous ruin pub, was a big disappointment. The walls were covered in graffiti from various Eastern European football hooligan mobs, the beer was pish and they were playing really bad techno music at a reasonable volume so as not to disturb the neighbours. The place was packed out with English stag and hen parties. It's just a tourist trap and nothing like the counter-cultural hub that it may have been at one time.

Antwerp in Belgium is underrated. A beautiful city with good food and beer but less of a "touristy" feel than other places.

Tel Aviv is another underrated destination. Good beaches, wild nightlife and the Bauhaus architecture in the centre is interesting.

  2. The Breeders - Pod

1990 release by the "supergroup" led by Kim Deal of The Pixies and Tanya Donnelly of Throwing Muses.

An excellent album. Lo-fi production and dark and often highly sexualized lyrics. A pretty intense album.

Currywurst and Donner Kebab both winners and good solid options for lunch. Plenty vendors throughout the city.

    I love a currywurst.

Another tip for a tasty and inexpensive meal that is very "Berlin" is to visit a butcher shop. Many of them have tables and chairs outside and you can get huge portions of hearty stews or goulash for a few euros.

The Domke Fleischerei on Warschauer Straße is pretty good.

  4. Decent day out aside from the result.

The Old Inn is a decent pub.

I thought the Mo played well but we never really looked liked scoring.

I was completely bewildered that we were wearing those pale pink shirts against a team that wear white. I'm amazed that was allowed. There was a couple of occasions when both teams gave up possession, presumably because the shirts were too close a colour. There were also a couple of dubious refereeing decisions too. We were denied a corner right at the end. I'm convinced that was because of the shirts

Why were we not in our blue shirts today?

The skids were supporting Stiff Little Fingers in Edinburgh last week and Jobson was cringe worthy beyond belief. Like an embarrassing drunk uncle at a wedding.

Often the case with these guys.

Terry Hall did a DJ set in Dundee a few weeks ago. The venue was full of aging mods and skinheads in Fred Perry and Doc Martins all expecting a set of two tone and ska. Hall was completely oblivious to the crowd and just played loads of shite 90s chart music like Groove is in the Heart and Here Comes The Hotstepper. It was both embarrassing and hilarious at the same time. The ska crowd were fucking fuming.

Speaking of Dundee, here's the city's greatest reggae band...

I wonder where does that European court of human rights stand on people being forced to die for their country.

And equality. Men have to die but women don't.

Article 4 of the ECHR states that compulsory military service is not a breach of human rights.
