  1. So Morton got emptied today at Thistle , Thistle got emptied last week at Arbroath, Arbroath destroyed the Pars in Fife . Maybe our draw with Arbroath wasn’t such a bad result after all . In other news it looks like Gavin Reilly is going out on loan to Morton , dispelling the assumption that Livingston only lend players to part time clubs .
  2. Hell your right enough let’s get Higgins and Roscoe back ! What ever was I thinking about . McCall doesn’t have an eye for a player at all .....
  3. Allowing Aero to be in a position to sign a pre contract with Thistle in the Christmas window would represent a meltdown of sanity at Ayr United on a spectacular level . This guy should be club captain and signed with us until his career is over . The figures we are talking about would not be crazy money , more lightly the kind of deal Doc signed when he moved to Thistle under similar circumstances. Guys like Shankland and Rose moving up the ladder as their career blossoms is one thing , but losing guys like Doc and Aero etc as we slug it out with similar sized clubs in the Championship should be a thing of the past . For me Adeloye and Aero should be extended right now , no if buts or maybes ....
  4. I think McAlister had Covid and the other three have only had one jag , so it’s 10 days for them . Others who had two jabs would only have to pass a Pcr and they’re good to go . Strange rules but it is what it is .
  5. Pretty depressing read on here today . Quite a few Ayr fans on here would be a good fit for the Italian Army circa 1940 . White flags everywhere after a 1-0 defeat away in Inverness . So that’s two defeats in seven this season ,both away from home and the usual three or four suspects are mounting a coup d’etat on our club . All in front of the vermin from up the road ! Get a grip ...... Having said the above , nobody is happy with yesterday , or the time it is taking to get two , what will be key players in . Everyone is disappointed. However to lose three starters after testing on thu/fri , while not an excuse does mitigate some of yesterday’s performance. Reading , McAdam and Maxwell in my opinion have nailed down their places in the team ,3 of the 6 that have . Raith Rovers can’t come quick enough for me . We need two players in for that and we need to win the football match . It’s as simple as that . Getting the win is key for the short term , beating QoS and Morton at home in the first round of fixtures is also a priority . None of this is crazily unachievable . All though some on here secretly pray for failure in these fixtures to further their latest witch hunt against their latest Ayr manager . Same voices were there for Kerr’s dismissal and yes for McCall when we went down in the Harkins season . Hopkin however doesn’t get a free pass , if we are anywhere near the trap door after Christmas I’m sure Smith will either through funding at it or remove and replace . L1 is not in the bigger picture , some of you would do well to look at the bigger picture from time to time . In the long game we all want the same thing , Smith is the man that’s going to deliver it one way or another . Hold the fucking line and stop whining in front of the vermin . Don’t give them any oxygen, none .!
  6. I see it more as a 4-5-1 with McGinty at left back , with Joe left central midfield inside McKenzie . We’ll see soon enough ...
  7. Think this is true of players who Livingston see as having a future with them . Players that are surplus to requirements are surely shunted to anyone who will pick up the tab . As per Jacobs and Reilly to Falkirk if true .
  8. If we get anywhere close to last weeks levels then Inverness will be gone in an hour .
  9. Well if it’s Falkirk then good luck to the two lads . Interesting though , were does that leave Ayr ? One of three options I’m afraid 1. We are looking else where (only ten days of window left) . 2. We’re happy with what we’ve got (gulp) or 3. The player that was training with us isn’t fit enough yet and he’s been working on that . On a separate note I still haven’t heard where Charlie Trafford has landed ! Does anyone have a clue ? Back to Canada ?
  10. Mostly agree , but confidence is the key and it’s building slowly , remember this is a squad of waifs and strays , none of them arrived after a great season . Any team with a prolific goal scorer gains confidence pretty quickly , they start to believe . Tommi isn’t there yet but it’s looking promising. A win in Inverness would bring even more momentum so here’s hopping .
  11. Now with the Burnley thing on the back burner , it’ll be onto to plan B . A plan be that will have been put together some weeks ago . The obvious movement you would have thought would involve Livingston, given Hopkin’s history there . According to Atlas (I think) Livi are wiling to put Keagan Jacobs and Gavin Reilly out on loan , so surely that’s been looked at ? Maybe Hopkin doesn’t fancy them now . The other option might be a bit of horse trading down the leagues a bit . Isn’t one of our coaches supposed to be a lower league expert ? This would be a clever way to offload any dead weight we have .
  12. Tommi Adeloye ? Well there is definitely something about him . Sounds like his head is in the right place , leaving all his distractions down south to come up and give it a proper go as he says . At 25 he probably realises this is his last chance to make some money . That’s of course if he can get a pile of goals .. This is the bit where he looks strongest of all , he has a nose for goal . Maybe more a piano player than a lifter , but that’s not to say he isn’t a strong lad . He is . But a target man he is not . Only a few of our strikers over the last 25 years or so have got over the 20 goal margins in a season . So if Tommi hits those heights he’ll be in the company of Annand , Hurst , Waker and of course the great Lawrence Shankland , so no pressure there huh . The question then is how best to facilitate this ? Will he fare better with a partner ? I think most would agree that that would be a yes , if yes then what kind ? Hopkin hinted of a target type , well Harker certainly fits into that category, but maybe an all court striker with more game than goals , that sounds like Moffat . Of course there are others a bit younger than Moff but with plenty of experience , Goodwillie ? He’d need to be bought or traded for . An international with plenty of goals . Gavin Reilly looking for a loan , journey man , knows the division but not so many goals . Or perhaps Mark McKenzie , it could be right under our noses ! But is he in the process of arriving as a Championship player or dies he need 20 games in L1 before he’s ready ? So more questions than answers , what can be said though I think is , we’ve got a good un in Tommi , as usual the wolfs will come sniffing , better get his contract sorted pronto .....
  13. If Baird isn’t banned for the trip north then I’d be going with the same side . If he is McGinty will come in at LCH . How the result will go is anyone’s guess . What is clear is Inverness will be in a tough game for the whole 90 mins . Ayr are fit enough to go the distance at full pace . We are looking more and more like a team that is hard to beat . Having said that we are not the finished article yet and we only have about six starting slots nailed down . ICT are two from two and if we can squeeze a 0-1 win it will be a tremendous result .
  14. Right Henry it’s way past your bed time ! Jammies on , that’s the laddie ...
  15. Agree with this , last week Fjortoft cruised about at the back, basically the spare man with no work to do . It left us short elsewhere. That’s a luxury we can’t afford . Four at the back for me with two forwards . Adeloye isn’t a target man but is proving to have a cool head in the box , find him the correct partner , Harker looked like what the doctor ordered , granted only saw him in one game . What to do in centre midfield is more complex : do you sign a Trafford type to play with Murdoch and let Aero go back to CH or keep him in midfield and sign a Robbie Crawford that can tackle and move Murdoch to the flank .
  16. Oh dear god what drivel . Your hatred of our manager is choking out any common sense you may have had . Maybe playing with your marbles beside the radio is a better fix for you . However you missed a cracking cup tie in the sun today . Ayr battle for two hours and never gave an inch to a team with treble our budget . On another day we win that game 2/3-0. Nobody leaving that ground felt short changed for their £15 .
  17. The ramblings of either a Killie fan , an Ayr United hater or just a bellend . Could be all three .
  18. Very harsh on those two young boys indeed . No way can you play Afolabi in front of McKenzie on today’s viewing , big Mark was superb . Also Hewitt covered every blade . O’Conner will get his chance , but I’m thinking coming off the bench to finish tired teams off .
  19. Superb effort from the boys today , 4-4-2 suits us well , shape and organisation were spot on . Could and should have won that 2-0 , 3-0 . Dundee United got out of jail . We keeping getting on the wrong side of the penalty decisions . Baird picked up un ultra soft booking earlier in the game and it came back to haunt us . Only lost one in six games now and our top boy Tommi has four goals in six games . Plenty of 8/10’s all over the pitch . I genuinely think we are two players away from being sorted . A centre forward and a central midfield general and we’ll be fine this season . Some humble pie required from some of our stay away “fans” ! Don’t expect much in the way of “I got it completely wrong” but this team deserves your support ,
  20. Some “Ayr fans” seem to be gagging for a defeat today or any other day for that matter ! Pretty pathetic .
  21. All of the above and more . Mild day , meeting friends so so much better than watching a stream in lockdown .
