So there are only two centre forwards of any bulk left on the Scottish Free Transfers list : Danny Whitehall and Gozie Ugwa . Worth a shot ? I await the howls of derision from our support and then them sliding in at QoS and beating us up in the season ahead .

The fact that ICT signed Duku gives me a little positivity. I reckon we can match anything Inverness can pay so maybe Hoppy has a better option on his mind . On saying that Inverness have a nice shape about them with their last three signings .

Anyway Ayr United business tomorrow, let’s see what unfolds . Anyone got any predictions ?

Clarke is at a crossroads , made us hard to beat and got us to a finals on the back of it . However time to drop of O’Donnell Christie Hanley and Armstrong if we are to go to the next level . Adams , Patterson and Gilmour are the future , may as well see what they can do in a finals .

Aero suffered a similar fate from the Falkirk key board warriors and even LS took some stick from numpty fans from Morton . These boys Hoppy has brought in deserve a chance . Some Ayr fans need to look at the bigger picture of where we are and how much we have to spend on the project in the very first summer . Some more new players coming in this week , I’m bracing myself for more crap from our fans ....

Perhaps Hoppy is looking for a bit more experience than the 22 year old McAdam provides .

So we’re about to bring in two maybe three new players and nobody knows anything about the identities of them . Really ! Time for the spies to spill the beans .....

As one of the other posts mentioned I thinks it’s more like five top players needed . One keeper , two centre midfielders and two forwards . We are moving fast towards the preseason training phase , so these guys need to be found pretty quickly .

Has to be Sir Lawrence : but Doyle , Dixie , Hurst ,Walker and McAlister all deserve a mention . Worst , so many , but Bobby McCauley , who we paid £40k for from East Stirlingshire used to drive me mad back in the day . All 5ft 2in off him . also a centre forward called Brogan who we bought from St Johnstone and scored zero before going to Accies and getting a barrowload .... So Ayr United .....

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking . Too many on here behaving like fans of the vermin from up the road . That sense of entitlement isn’t a good look .

If my counting is right we have 13 signed for next season . That’s at the very minimum 7 short . There is no way we are going to start a season with 16 . Also roughly speaking if we match last season’s budget we have room for six or seven . Perhaps us finishing at the wrong end of the league is scaring some off a bit , just as our fourth place finish last season attracted one or two rock stars , I won’t name them again . Also the term utility player has been quoted. , it scares people , usually translates to haddy ! However Cammy Smith could be classed as a utility player as could Craig Conway . So keep the faith and let’s see what occurs in the next two weeks . Also can we ban the M word , you know that useless club from Greenock . Just saying ....

I’m a fan of Hoppy making the team more direct and physical but some of the guys on here are indeed correct , we must get the balance right . We need some class in amongst the oomph . We’re back to piano lifters and piano players . While I do want a big tough nine , I reckon there is a need for a Forrest and a Kelly to get wins in Hamilton and Kilmarnock.... It’s over to Hoppy and Smithy .

That’s one loan , seven free transfers and three boys from the academy. Just shows you what is possible ,if only we could offer better and longer contacts . At least we should be bringing some money in when they move on .

This is the team of players we’ve lost over the past three summers , with Aero and a loan of Doohan again , could it have won the league this season ? Doohan Smith Aero Rose Harvie McCowan Docherty Crawford Forrest Shankland Smith if only we could have held onto some of those ....

Third season on the trot we lose our top scorer . I hope this is the end of that behaviour .

So can we take it that the deal is done ?

The bigger picture is the club is growing , I’d say Hopkins will need the season after next to completely see if his plan has worked . However I’d expect to be finishing above QoS , Morton , Arbroath as a minimum next season , if we get a bit of a bounce going then perhaps ICT , Raith and the Pars could be bettered . But I think that would be about it for Season One . The key to our season will be the caliber of our next four signings . If we could bring in say Toderov , McKay , Conway and a Doohan caliber keeper or even the man himself , then we should be set for a season where we can compete with most of the teams in the division and beat a lot of them on our day .....

On the target man front we have Nikolay Toderov rumoured to be a target , we won’t be the only ones , if there is Premiership interested then we’ll be toast I suppose . However there are plenty of other line leaders on the freed list on Wiki .Any of the following fit to be on our back up list : Marios Ogkmpoe (Accies) , Jon Obika (St Mirren) Collin Quaner (St Mirren) , Danny Whiehall (Vermin) . Not a lot to choose from . Any worth a shout ?

I heard it’s Dundee United at the moment but Motherwell fancy him . As usual it’ll come down to pound notes .
