  1. Hmm, yes, and anyone for regional conferences below the Championship?
  2. This is more relevant to the earlier discussion about dividing our football into a couple of regions, but I enjoyed this article on the i news website about the English experience of the same. https://inews.co.uk/sport/league-one-two-north-south-sunderland-portsmouth-ipswich-efl-421509 It seems to cover most of the issues that I've seen debated on P+B. (And keep an eye out for Coventry.)
  3. I agree. Communal indoor worship is far more risky virus-wise than outdoor contact sport, yet it's allowed from 5th April. Also - if indoor retail, hospitality, etc are deemed safe from 26th April, then surely outdoor contact sport must be 3 weeks/one phase ahead of those more risky activities.
  4. Yep - that's almost what I was aiming for in 12-14-18 suggestion earlier. If you relegate two from the bottom division automatically, it gives more possibilities the other way. I would prefer to have the winners of HL vs 2nd LL and winners of LL vs 2nd HL in playoffs for two promotion places to the SPFL, because it enables a fairer opportunity to clubs in the Lowland area - where most SPFL clubs will be relegated to, and where the balance of clubs lies - to be promoted. It also makes the LL and HL more interesting for longer in the event of runaway leaders.
  5. As a fairly neutral armchair type that does appeal (sorry boke). I don't see any meaningless games in your 8/6, whereas when it was touted for the top division as a 6/8 split there seemed to be huge scope for meaningless games in a bottom 8 with 14 fixture rounds after the split. There may have to be a rejig of prize money, as it looks as if the Championship clubs would be benefitting from an additional one to two home games whereas Conference clubs would have one less than they do now.
  6. Yes - that's the basic idea, although you can't pick and choose teams so right now Partick wouldn't be in it. On average, I think that a middle 14 (with no split, 39 games each) would give about the same finances for full time clubs as the current Championship - but with more part timers involved, too. No to the colt firm. And I feel Kelty and Brora merit inclusion in the league.
  7. I believe that by pursuing a Covid elimination strategy rather than a Covid suppression strategy the SNP will lose the election.
  8. 12-14-18 Top12 (Premier) Will never change, for reasons of finances and politics. Split isn't pretty but works quite well. Middle 14 (Championship) Teams play every other team x3, which clubs are amenable to as per this season. No negative impact on finances of clubs at this level, as 10+ full timers likely and 19-20 home games each (compared to 8+ full time clubs and 18 home games at the moment). Maybe allows full timers a couple of seasons to build towards promotion with less worry about relegation than at the moment. Gives more space for best part timers to bed in, make money and maybe progress. 1st promoted automatically, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in playoffs with 11th of Premier - same structure as now, but single leg matches due to longer league season: 4th away to 3rd, winners away to 2nd, winners vs 11th of Premier at neutral ground. 13th,14th relegated automatically. 12th in playoffs with 3rd-5th of Conference. Bottom 18 (Conference) Play every opponent x2, 34 games per team. National home for part timers - build towards promotion, stabilise after coming up from Highland/Lowland leagues. 17th, 18th relegated - to be replaced by winners of: HL1st vs LL 2nd, and LL 1st vs HL 2nd. By having top 2 of HL and of LL qualifying for playoffs it keeps those divisions interesting and gives relegated SPFL clubs a clearer route back to the big time.
  9. Auld yin, That sounds like book learning, rather than lived experience; try - 1) a pillow under her hips; 2) humping her clit; 3) rolling your hips; 4) spending more time fckng her entrance; 5) to keep going throughout her orgasm. Learn it; give your subconscious a few days to add it to your experience. So - enjoy. And - please - relax!
  10. My dilemma is, since this Tory government have raised my income by about 90 quid a month, should I be voting Tory at the next election. I'm long-term unemployed, you see, and the extra money they added to Universal Credit in April has given me some kind of life back. I've never put anything next to any of their candidates' names on a ballot paper before, other than the highest number on local election ballots (to ensure there couldn't be any doubt that they were my least favourite party). Maybe I'll just sit the next election out, like last time.
  11. The most infuriating thing my partner does is, whenever I'm Zooming some important meeting with senior colleagues, she parades around just out of picture just in one of her sheer bodystockings, sometimes red or fishnet. I wish she would not do that.
  12. Did you know that... ...the Chief Executive of BP is a Mr B Looney ...the Prime Minister of Egypt is a Mostafa Madbouly ...there is a peer named Barnoess Barran ...the US Ambassador to the UK is one Woody Johnson ??
  13. My favourite episode of Kenny MacIntyre's midweek programme was when John 'Bomber' Brown went head-to-head with Tom English, looking for an apology for either the "howling at the moon" comment or some criticism of his lack of credentials to be Dundee manager (sorry, I can't recall which). Needless to say, no apology was forthcoming - and battle commenced. I also liked Allan Preston's short-lived pronunciation of new player Botty ByeBye*, but then I am an easily amused man-child. *a malapropism?
  14. All I'm saying is that Your Call was more entertaining than a second dose of Co. Co. & Co., and that they themselves were more entertaining before they were doubled way back in nineteen-umpteen.
  15. Can't see that happening without expanding the league first, though. We'll no doubt be in Lockdown II and football-free by the beginning of October, so there'll be plenty of time and necessity to revisit all Lockdown I league issues soon.
  16. Stella and Tootsie can be funny at times, but they're spread a bit thin (!) these days: it was more balanced and entertaining when they were on early and Your Call was on later. So I say - bring back James Traynor and the nutters on the phone-in, if we ever return to a normal season.
  17. For a complete restructure then a 16 team Premiership looks good, but the other contributors were talking about smaller steps that had more chance of being accepted. Mind you, you're adding 4 teams to the league there so that has to be more appealing to clubs not keen on relegation to non-league football. If the season is cancelled, and with a vaccine due in January, maybe a summer season would be necessary for finances and also do-able in practice.
  18. Good points. Depends how long Covid lasts, maybe hang tough for now as it may not be a permanent change in the balance of finances. The LL catchment sort of caters for the smaller part time clubs you mention.
  19. A step in the right direction, yep. SPFL clubs might not agree to it without expanding the league first. Maybe 12-12-20 with 2 automatic promotion/relegation between Championship and League One and play offs between 3, 4, 5 in L1 and 10 in Championship.
  20. Keep the Scottish league cup as it is because winning draws are a great innovation. Even better - send the colt firm to play in a British league with England's equivalent, thereby enabling the OF dreams of playing in England and of having their colt teams develop players at a higher level (and leaving the Scottish league free of B teams).
  21. That sounds fine to me. Have West and East top levels before Xmas, then the best 4 of each come together in a national Premiership after Xmas, play home and away to decide title, European places etc. Would give x4 Old Firm games as 2 would be in the West Premier, and a 14 game each finale would give someone else a better chance of being champions. You're not seriously proposing a league without any splits in it? Shame on you.
  22. Don't we always have five European places when Rangers and Celtic are both in the top league? The middle section should work unless one of them goes bust. 12 teams in the Championship would be fine. Split at 33 games to give promotion/relegation groups of 6 and maybe keeps full-timers x4 against eachother in the top section. I like the 3 regional conferences below that for their fixtures, as more local away support ers and less travel, as a go-between for clubs transitioning between regional and national leagues.
  23. I found this idea on another thread, and I could see it as part of a 16-10-18 SPFL set up: "with an additional European place now, I think a 16-team Premiership becomes possible. I would split after 30 games, with the top 4 playing home and away again for 36 games each in total, and the bottom 4 doing likewise. The middle 8 could play each other once more in a continuation of the league and 37 games in total, or could divide into two groups of 4 and then a wee knockout competition. The winner of the middle 8 would qualify for Europe in seasons where one of the top 4 won the Scottish Cup and so the European place would normally pass to 5th in the league; if any other team won the Scottish Cup, then 4th in the league would play off against the best team in the middle 8 who had not already qualified for Europe (to cover the possibility of 5th in the league having won the cup)." Edit - you could regionalise the third tier of 18 teams for their fixtures (north, south-east, south-west) but not the table.
  24. It looks like you're right about the north-south conferences. The travel distances don't work out. Your idea of 3 conferences looks promising for more derbies and less travel. But still a good mix of fixtures.
