  1. Sorry man, you missed the boat about 3 weeks ago. Next year keep an eye out for Brochures and Online with both Lidl and Aldi. If you stay tuned you'll see it coming, always well advertised but goes quick. If you want one id recommend buying one on Scotch Whisky Auctions or similar. It wont go for much more than the original RRP
  2. Its interesting that their master blender moved on (Kirstie Macallum) and left for. Glen Moray. Her Linkedin Bio states previous employer as Burns Stewart. Read into that what you will.
  3. You can buy the "Mòine" on amazon for £35. Its nice to try a peated version and would buy again. The 12 is the go to though I agree. Deanston, Tobermory and Bunnahabhain 12yo are just fantastic all rounders
  4. PX is incredibly sweet and has that affect on the whisky. Its one of my personal favourites too. It'd be worthwhile getting a tasting pack or trying whiskies side by side. You don't quite realise the difference until youve got a glass in each hand.
  5. 15 is the one i went for in the end. The glenfarclas clan come across like good people to boot [emoji1303]
  6. Id actually bought the single purchase at 55 and didnt clock the subscribe & save. Is that an anomaly? It almost always just shows the same price for both.
  7. You've achieved his goal of living in your head, rent free.
  8. I wasnt sure initially but the bottle has opened up after the first few pours. Really great for £35. Bought 2, shame im a generous guy and gave one to@CountyFan
  9. Who is the tasting through? I had a cask strength 25yo that SWA released for their 100th auction. Was good to try something that old at full strength
  10. Yeah, they go from 40, 43, 46 then fire in the 105 @ cask strength [emoji23] They've got their pricing bang on though and not getting greedy. Fair play to them.
  11. @GiGi that's the lineup right enough. Ever tried the 17yo? Im not sure if these ages are made up differently or theyre all just sherried malts and increasingly older statements?
  12. There's a possible chance this is true, although I don't believe he was found guilty. Pretty sure the person that grassed was caught for the same offence [emoji2371] That aside, I'm aware of some low key charitable donations he's made which tells me he's a good guy. One doesn't offset the other but this court of public opinion doesnt really wash tbh.
  13. What's your beef with Paolo Nutini? A thoroughly good bloke
  14. Glen Scotia Double Cask might be one to try. Sweet with a wee hint of smoke. A Campbeltown distillery which have their own unique style.
  15. I don't see the attraction of SMWS personally. £60 membership for a chance to buy what I feel is quite pricey whisky. Indy bottlers have been a safe haven for me of late but the prices are going up. I generally don't like buying blind, tastings are a great way of finding that one favourite out of 5 or 6.
  16. I think the auction sites have their place. There is a bad culture of profiteering on certain distilleries and releases but in general if you have a bottle you've bought along the way and now it'll go for silly money, who's not going to be tempted to cash in. How long does the SMWS flipper ban apply for? You can't sell anything ever or just not right away? I don't have a membership nor have tried anything from them.
  17. OP12 is amongst the best value and quality out there IMO. The salty maratime kick might not be everyones taste to be fair. Ive tried pulteney thats been independently bottled and just lovely when its not been messed with.
  18. Lidl selling a 16yo Islay @43% from tomorrow. This is their Christmas offering at £34.99. Great value, whichever distillery its from. (guessing Lagavulin or Caol Ila?)
  19. I would agree, the reference was spot on and very funny. I dont know the lady in question but understand she has the respect of most bairns. Not a joke id make personally given the context but still very funny.
  20. Yeah, i bought a wee (i think 1litre) cask a few years ago. Seasoned it with cheap bourbon and worked ok. Then seasoned it with Mulled Wine (tried to copy Mackmyra Vinterglod) and left it too long. Its a cool wee experiment but is an ornament for me now on the shelf. Wouldn't discourage you though! One tip is the maturation caught me out, even after 2 months it tastes like licking the planks of wood in B&Q.
  21. Yeah, international footbalk doesnt require players to act like d!ckheads and pick on young players to make up for their shortcomings.
