Paul Dickov was the guy who popped into my head when Lineker pop-quizzed Ian Wright about who the last Scottish player to score for Arsenal in the top flight was and they said Charlie Nic.
Wasn’t sure if it was technically correct and Dickov’s Arsenal goals had maybe all been in cup games (?) but wasn’t that arsed about looking it up.

ETA: Looked it up there - Turns out Lineker/Wright were wrong and Dickov got 3 league goals for Arsenal.

I had the same initial thought that it might have been in "meaningless" cup games, but thinking about it that was probably tainted by the late-90s onwards disregard for the cups. Back in the early 90s both English cups definitely still felt quite special.

The summmariser at Alloa is Heather Dewar. 12 years employed by BBC, has undoubtedly presented more live radio broadcasts than anybody else on the show today, besides Richard Gordon himself.

Her supposed crime today is that she took a short while to confirm one goal scorer at Alloa (due to the poor light), then took a short while to confirm the next goal (due to a number of bodies obscuring view). Or in other words, she patiently and calmly waited to confirm the salient fact of the name of the goalscorer to the listening audience rather than wildly speculating or making funny "golllllallll" noises like Biscuits and the Boys do.

I think every week any female broadcaster on this show has to perform to a significantly higher standard than her male colleagues in order just not to get mentioned on here. Whilst a number of male broadcasters get a free pass on here, and if criticised are never gendered in that criticism.

Sandra Brown excluded, who is by any objective standard rubbish.

i'm not an avid listener of sportsound, so don't hear things first hand, but this thread is 715 pages long and 700 of them are probably about how shite the male presenters are

Happy New Year man, top work.

    Boom ?

apples and oranges, conceding 7 for the 1st time since 1963, but had already made them European & League Champions, what did that fud Moyes do ? Left Everton, took the backroom staff of Everton, turn the Champions of England into Everton

Why the f**k would you use the 12 hour clock for Sportscene and the 24 hour clock for MotD...IN THE SAME POST?????

i never noticed that..🤣     or maybe i did, and knew how long they'd spend with their 1st game.😏

This is a selection of pointless cherry picked nonsense that you could do for almost any manager.

cherry picked ? he managed that in 8 months !

go ahead and name the managers of any elite club in the world who you could do this for ?

West Brom were due a win at Old Trafford...

That 1978 win was on ITV4  a good few weeks back, WBA won 3-5,  do you remember The 3 degrees ? Baston, Cunningham & Regis ? to call them that now sounds racist as f**k 😮

c***s like giggs downed tools on him

Don't think he was entirely to blame

the backroom staff he brought with him might get a little bit of the blame

couldn't disagree more, totally wrong fit for Man United

    Explain?

midtable mentality, even in interviews and pre match ''pressers'' he can be quoted about setting up not to lose, this was at a club, who for the best part of 20  years went out to batter teams,  Champions of England by 11 points, but claimed to be underdogs before they played their biggest rivals, Liverpool, that's his defeatist attitude as i don;t think he's ever beaten them, in Ferguson's last season, the beat Liverpool Home & Away, then there was the whole ''We aspire to be like City''  guy shouldn't have been anywhere near that job.

Sorry I didn't notice it was you I was replying to earlier.  This reminded me you're a w**k and a troll that I don't reply to.  Happy New Year x

troll ? naw, just someone that knows far more than you about Moyes and his time at United,

  10. 21 minutes ago, Carnoustie Young Guvnor said:

No he didn't, he had zero contribution to that. He has since related the list of players he submitted to Man Utd when he got the job, including Toni Kross of the top of my head.  They got him none of those players, eventually securing just Fellaini in the last minutes of the window.

Anybody going in to that job to succeed Fergie would have wanted half a dozen top drawer players. They got him none, just one jobber.

The CE actually changed the same summer, he is at fault for their failure in the market not Moyes.

And btw Moyes had them seventh, they spent hundreds of millions after he left, if he had got the same backing he could still be there now.

you really must be some sort of blood relative to come out with shite like this, i could shoot down every point you have made, but 1. i can't be arsed & 2. you seem think thing your opinion is the only one that's correct.

Ferguson had scouted Thiago Alcantara for a year, the guy was as good as a United player, Moyes came in, put it on hold, as he wanted to look at him, then started chasing Cesc Fabregas, who was only angling for a better contract at Barca, meanwhile Pep got in contact with Thiago, and he was Bayern bound, so f**k off with that shite he was let down and takes no blame., he's a midtable donkey.

*edit....aye, champions of england by 11 points, took them to 7th, their worst finish since 1990/91 season

The Man U job was an impossible task made harder with the club utterly failing him in the transfer market that Summer.

the club weren't great, but he also had more than a hand in that being a shite window for United.

Enjoying this but it's so Rangers/Celtic/Sevco focused. The old clips are decent but almost all the 2020 clips are pish (McAvennie pants on the puss was funny mind).

There's so much, every single year, that can be done with Scottish football across all the divisions. To focus it on two particular teams each year and to continue to shoehorn in the same irrelevant characters is just lazy and the main reason why this show is ending.

maybe there is a lot happening across all the leagues but how many people would have a clue who was being parodied if not associated with the national team or the ugly sisters?
