Getting through the Europa League Group stage does not mean you are a team who doesn’t choke FFS. If you were to go on and win it of course, that would be a different story.

Why do you think a team with the second biggest budget in the country hasn’t won a single major title since 2012? Plenty of teams with smaller budgets have managed it. Hibs, Ross County, St Mirren, St Johnstone, ICT, Aberdeen etc.

Why haven’t you? The simple answer is because your club consistently bottles it in the big, high pressure games. Personally I don’t really care if you choke the league or not, it will be a good laugh for the neutral whichever one of you wins it. If any club is capable of throwing away a 19 point lead though, it’s the shitebags from Govan.

How is getting knocked out of a knockout tournament by teams more fancied to win than you choking?

That isn’t really what I said though is it. Is it inconceivable that Celtic could win their 3 games in hand? They had just won six league games straight going into Saturday’s game.
Would it be SO far fetched to believe that they could win both remaining fixtures against Rangers? Granted the October defeat was more like a bounce game, but they could easily have taken the spoils yesterday. I think the honest answer to both questions is No.

A gap of 4 points rather than 19, clearly becomes bridgeable, taking into account that BOTH sides will drop points between now and the end of the campaign.
Yes, the odds are hugely stacked in Rangers favour, but it seems SG prefers to err on the side of caution and some of the Rangers fans on this forum too. Rangers may have recovered from the shock LC exit to St Mirren, but a defeat at Pittodrie next Sunday would have similar reverberations.

Lunacy doesn’t come in to it, pragmatism does.

    No they hadn’t?

    Draw: Hibs

    Draw: St Johnstone

    Win: Kilmarnock

    Win: Ross County

    Win: Hamilton

    Win: Dundee United

That last game being your only win against a top 6 side since...the 3-0 game against Hibs at the end of October? would have to look at the table for where St Johnstone were but it’s around then.

If it's any consolation, I don't think referees like Collum are necessarily conspiratorial, more that he is (a) more shit at his job than he realises and (b) has a bias towards how he thinks teams play rather than how they are playing.

I think the majority of them are shit in different ways, I’d say the only real consistency is the ten minute window from kick off where you’d need to murder someone to get a yellow instead of a wagging finger.

Snuffing out the wingbacks is a good idea from the oppositions point of view, but doubling up leaves them exposed through the middle. Now would be the ideal time for Kent to return to form.

Think you’ll see one of Arfield or Aribo (dependent on Arfield’s injury) playing a floating role that works into the space that’s freed up by the doubling up full back. Starts off with the usual 4-4-3, ends up being a 4-2-3-1 with Roofe leading the line, then Kent, Aribo, Morelos behind, with Kamara and Davis sitting deeper to cover the Saints midfield when Rangers are in possession.

Cant see much beyond Rangers really pushing from kick off and attempting to overload their defence, if the first half hour is anything beyond 25% St Mirren possession I’d be surprised.

Think good use of subs will be key, Itten offers a presence in holding up the ball and playing the channels that we are normally overly reliant on Morelos for, obviously Hagi is in great form but don’t think he’ll start, but he does offer that trickyness and shooting from outside the box that stops teams being able to sit in deep comfortably.

On the Kent point, I think the role he’s been asked to play is similar to Firmino for Liverpool - but with some slight differences in terms of how high we play up the pitch. I don’t think he’s massively out of form, just think he’s the player two passes before an assist by design most games. Goal would do him good though.

Still, there are issues with how high Rangers play and susceptibility to counter attacks - the ball in behind our full backs followed by a quick diagonal to the back post has led to at least 5/13 goals we’ve conceded this season - Lang for Motherwell and Smith for Dundee United being good examples, the lad in the Europa who can’t have kids any more as well. Think it’s probably that there’s no perfect system and the cons are outweighed by the pros, but we’ve conceded nearly half of our total goals in December so it’s maybe starting to need addressed.
