Part of me thinks McGlynn put Wilson on yesterday to send a message to the board to say he needs more quality in the squad.
It was that or a bet he made with his mates.
Signing Wilson might have been Holt's worst mistake. And that includes signing his son who isn't a footballer.

Yeah it's all speculation until we see the squad at end August.
Everyone knows we are miles short. And we also know we are going to be disappointed when the window shuts as we'll undoubtedly have way too much dross.
I like McGlynn's reaction yesterday. He'll be putting constant pressure on the board to do more I'm sure. He doesn't want his reputation to suffer and is a winner.
The areas of concern in the squad are glaringly obvious - fingers crossed from me that we can pull a few rabbits from the hat.
It's a shame now we have the first real manager in a long time we seem to have the least ability to overhaul the squad completely.

Shite as yesterday's performance was, it does give us a really good chance of getting out of this group. And we could do with the money.
Beat Clyde and Bonnyrigg and that should be that.
Incredibly at this level that might be enough to fund a player.

We won’t
I agree. I don't think we'll win the division either but I think we'll be top 3.

Could we dispense with any notions of "winning the league".
They have finished 5th & 6th the last two seasons.
McGlynn & Smith have 10 months to instill a disciplined & visible pattern of play, to the point where they can possibly finish within the play off positions.'Possibly' finish in the playoffs. f**k me. We weren't far from the playoffs last season under the two worst managers in the club's history.
If we want to set expectations to be cast up then here's one. Finishing outside the playoff positions will be an utter failure of a season. Catastrophic.

We are winning absolutely nothing with that front 4. At a maximum 2 of them should start come the start of the league season.
I think 2 is generous. Don't really want any of them starting ideally.

Oooft.. Gantin
Which was always on the cards with this squad largely the same
On the plus side we look much better defensively. Good managers tend to sort that first, so I'm optimistic goals will come later once we sign 3 or 4 more.

Why would have Rennie messed up the summer?
Because for example we spunked 1K a week on Leith Griffiths under that useless clowns tenure
That's money which could have been given to McGlynn.
There were other spends also on the failed gamble to reach the playoffs.
It's not difficult.

We’re not the only ones though both Dunfermline and Airdire are miles short, Montrose squad at the moment is weaker than last season and Kelty have not strengthened yet either.Probably fair.. I havent really looked at the other challengers.
McGlynn should be worth 10 points a season at this level. That always gives hope.
I'd be surprised if we don't see another 2 or 3 before end August though. Surely that's a given.

Really disappointed with the squad at this stage. I thought there'd be far more ins and outs.
Feel for McGlynn really. Hope the Rennie nonsense last window hasn't fucked it for him in the summer.
Still plenty of time to get it right in the next few weeks but there's a shitload of wheeling and dealing needed.
We're miles away from where we need to be to win this league, which is quite deflating.

I dont think anyones saying that every player in the squad is the best in 30 years. More the overall group. Which I think is quite a well accepted view point. Fair enough if you disagree tho.
I'm not sure it's true either. Definitely not 30 years. There's a lot of substandard dross in this side.
The squad we went to France with in 1998 and England with in 1996 were far superior imo.
I think the 2007 ish squad was better too. Probably fair to say this lot is the best in the last 15 years though, low though that bar is.

The only stat in football that is overwhelmingly true is the total salary spend on players by clubs. The correlation between that and success is incredible and is true in EVERY league. You might find outliers but that will always return to the true.
Correct.
It is still the case that the last time we were promoted from any league (the Championship) it was by spending more than our competitors.
It is possible to go up/win leagues without that being the case but you are very much up against it from the start and are relying on a lot of luck.

Very pleased with the summer transfer activity so far. A big step forward from the previous shite, at least on paper.

Significantly worse than Kazakhstan. Possibly the worst performance in 20 years.

This utter shite lost to Armenia ffs.. Ireland are awful.
That we've managed to outshit them is wild.

Every player looks terrified in possession.. we are so slow

As expected Wales progressed. Ukraine aren't very good, despite the inclinations of some to pretend they are because they sworded our hapless bottlers with ease.

'Scotland have reached the last 16 of the world cup 5 times (more than double Wales' number of qualifications) and the last 8 of the Euros.'

Who the f**k does Lyndon Dykes think he is?
Get him so far to f**k. Ripped tights keeping you out of the NL? Well you're not needed for the bigger games. f**k off.

I know we should know better but really hard not to feel a lot of optimism about this season. Great managerial appointment and finally have someone with a clue bringing in players.
Let the games commence.

Today's been a great day as I'm off work and I've rediscovered The Kunts.
Ees a sweaty nonce... ees a sweaty nonce

I was anti Clarke after/during the Euros but reckon he should stay now.
I think we're desperately short in a few key positions so not sure binning him now will help much.
If we just had one quality forward...
