Weirdly hasn't been announced anywhere I don't think; but Bonnyrigg have addressed their keeper issue by signing Paddy Martin on loan from Falkirk. He made his debut today.

Makes me think. Why don’t clubs use the element of surprise more. If we were clearly short of striker options and our opponent planned for that, and we signed a great striker… wouldn’t it be better to not announce it and just have them show up at the match? Or am I being naive and they’d see it on some system, rather than get signing news from Twitter like we do?

Never understood this attitude at all. It's basically the same as saying we shouldn't use CCTV evidence of a crime in the street because not all streets have CCTV.

Well, if stealing stuff was a sport and you got landed with the street with CCTV and someone else didn't, you'd feel a bit aggrieved.

The list of 26 or so that comes out a week or two before the first game in a triple header is only so published so that fans / clubs / players know who's been called up.  Basically, if Shankland or whoever was called up today because Adams is shitting himself inside out, it seems we could get him into the squad for tomorrow (assuming of course travel is possible, which it surely would be).

Interesting.  Wonder why we all announce our squads then and give the game away.  If I had a key player - and the opposition would want to work on how to stop them - I'd announce that they were injured, not include them on my announced squad and then look at their faces when he swaggers down the tunnel.  I'd probably put on some triumphant music for effect.

It does seem like he is over complicating things, maybe thinks he is some sort of pioneer in the lower leagues. Has a feeling of the "booth" era about it. A guy over thinking & overloading with nonsense.

It makes more sense why a player like Scott Booth (who is used to playing at a much higher level) would overcomplicate things... not sure why an ex lower league player like Stephen Swift would see it as a good idea.

Success in these leagues while there may have been exceptions generally come from just doing the basics right, Part Time training being "fun" & something to look forward to but by his own words it looks like we are doing lots of data/video analysis which clearly isn't working.

    100% agree with this

  5. Offside traps and playing it out from the back. Aside from sounding like a book someone would write about stennies season, it sounds like Stephen swift is trying to get his players to do different things that they aren’t capable of.

You never know maybe it will all click into place, but it must be frustrating to see mistakes repeating itself.

  6. There was a couple of posts a few pages back saying that cooler heads were required, and I couldn't agree more.

Some of the people involved in and around the boards have fantastic business and governance experience, but they seem to behave differently when it comes to their plaything, for want of a better word.  If a group of people got together with good ideas, good people skills, a willingness to do a solid handover and a penchant for the sensible and unspectacular running of a football club then I'd vote them straight in.

Not sure, he seemed to disappear under Young at East Fife before this latest incident.

Fair enough.  I was blindly going on the fact he'd played for Albion Rover and East Fife under Young, similar to Ross Davidson, and that we need someone in his position.  But if he was frozen out under Young, I can't imagine he'd be heading here.
