Take a look at today’s League Cup results. Look at the ‘bigger’ team results against their ‘lesser’ opposition. Every single one of the bigger teams did a job, got a result - except one. Ross County came closest to being as pish as us,, but dug out a penalty win after a draw. Guess who were the only ones to completely fcuk it up, at home

Not that I disagree with your post overall, and correct me if I'm wrong but weren't we the only ones facing championship tier opposition? I'd hardly put the arbroath team who nearly got promoted last season on the same level as Clyde.

That being said its definitely not a good result, and plenty of work needed to get to the level we'd expect/hope for. Very likely we'll end up having a 'meh' season but if you offered me that right now over relegation I'd not turn it down either.

  2. If he does well enough for you guys then Aberdeen will be in a better position to attact a suitable replacement. (back in Europe)

Might also be paying only a portion of his wage or something.

If he's crap you punt him back.

Plenty of potential positives in a loan here. I also imagine this was all in the works long before the big transfer to Liverpool went through.

  3. Pretty sure every manager says they want their business done as early as possible and to get the players in before preseason begins.

Goody said this when he went to the Dons. Pretty sure the new hibs manager said it in his first interview.

Desire and reality seldom align in this regard but it makes a good soundbite to get fans excited and imply they're driven.

......I do despise their fan's presence, but for me it doesn't make any difference whether it's one or two stands. It's still an infestation.

This brings up a good point. Do people really believe the atmosphere/behaviour of the away fans will be any better just because there's less of them?

Sure, it might prevent you hearing sectarian singing in stereo, but it's just as awful in mono. Are parents really gonna fill the family stand with all that goes on when they come into town?

I'm not against giving them less, but I don't think it's a given that we'll fill the stands ourselves and that the fan experience will be much if at all better as a result on those match days.

I'd be interested in hearing what steps will be going in to better stewarding/policing, better segregation pre and post match to prevent violence and flare ups, better punishments for stadium damage etc. Without any of this, I honestly think we're maybe missing the point.

Of that list I'd be looking at us trying to tie some players down on extensions instead of looking at a complete rebuild next summer.

For me, Henderson and Grieve should be priorities for long term extensions.

    RWBs
    R. Tait - RWB/LWB - 2023 May be entering the tail end of his time with us with age on his side, unless he is happy to just be a squad player
    J. Henderson - RWB/RW - 2023 Offer long term extension. See him as one of our biggest assets

    CBs
    M. Fraser - CB/RB - 2023 See how this season goes
    J. Shaughnessy - CB - 2023 Offer 2 yr extension
    C. Dunne - CB - 2023 Not bothered, though already rumoured with potential move to dons
    D. Finlayson - CB/RB - 2023 Not sure if he has what it takes to cut it yet

    LWBs
    S. Tanser - LWB - 2024

    CDMs
    D. Reid - CDM/CM - 2023 Offer long term extension though suspect he will move on to a bigger club with the teams already showing an interest

    CMs
    E. Erhahon - CM - 2023 Big season for Ethan, though his head may already be looking at a move elsewhere

    CAMs
    G. Kiltie - CAM - 2023 Offer 2 year extension

    ST
    C. Main - ST - 2023 See how this season goes
    E. Brophy - ST - 2024
    A. Greive - ST - 2023 Offer long term extension. See him as one of our biggest assets
    L. Jamieson - ST - 2023 See how this season goes

This sums up my sentiments regarding current players perfectly.

  6. I may have sounded a little harsh, but my lack of excitement about the signing doesn't mean I don't necessarily think he'll do well, or that he shouldn't be signed etc.

When I looked him up he originally played as a CF before moving to Morecambe, where Robinson ended up playing him mostly as a Winger. Wasn't sure if that was out of necessity or changing his style of play. Thus why I looked at his goal return.

If he's going to continue to play wide right, he'll  be competing with Jay Henderson on the right wing for when we do play a formation that suits that position - which can only be good for Jay's development and is an area that we at least need options in.

I am curious as to how people think he'd fit into a 3-5-2/5-3-2 if that's going to be our default - will he take one of the front 2 spots and just naturally play the role wider, or will he take the wingback role? Is Robinson going in a different direction from those formations? We'll have to wait and see!

    I hadn't spotted he's over 6ft. I wonder how his heading is :D

We've had pacy players in the past that have been all energy and no end product, looking at you Dylan Conolly. Exciting every time they get on the ball because they can get by a man, but you're going home disappointed 9 times out of 10.

I hope he and all the other signings work out great, and we can push on up the league next season!
