  1. He was playing on the left tonight. Last time he did that was against Brighton last year and he was anonymous then as well. Klopp deliberately put him outside his comfort zone?
  2. Point is - rugby needs a loose eligibility rule or there wouldn't be enough teams to make even decent QF jeopardy. Most of the Scotland rugby XV is about as Scottish as Elon Musk's tits, I wouldn't want us to end up in that situation. Funnily enough Argentina manage to get a half decent XV out without using NZ/SAers
  3. It was a good RWC but if there weren't residency rules it would be crap. There are only three or four places in the world where rugby is the major sport. NZ, Wales, SA & Pacific Islands. All these players have to be spread about to create competition.
  4. There is Rory Wilson at Villa. Early days yet but his stats are remarkable.
  5. I'm not sure i'm convinced by Che Adams either though. Quite a few games under his belt by now.
  6. Maybe. There were a lot worse players than him I suppose. Barry Ferguson probably in the same category EPL-wise. Darren Fletcher is a good shout. What about the other Fletcher? At his peak he would be ahead of Che Adams I don't think there are any other post 2003 that haven't been mentioned
  7. I think 4pts from remaining two games likely puts us in pot 2. Austria are the biggest threat. Hungary drawing last night guarantees pot 1 I think if Spain slip up and we get 6pts
  8. McFadden was great for that level of team and lovely to watch, but he was never a Premier League standard player. Struggled at Everton. Kenny Miller , maybe
  9. So which pre-Clarke players since 2003 would displace the current first picks? You can take them at their peak. Gordon? Weir? Maybe Hutton?
  10. I doubt it was the genius of the SFA but it could be a general cultural thing where it is accepted that the way you used to play football during your golden years doesn't cut it anymore.
  11. Hutton aver Hickey? Who are you leaving out in Midfied for Brown? Anya?? I reckon only Brown gets on the bench
  12. Interesting that Hungary are also performing well these days. They were brilliant in the 50's/early 60's then went into decline and by the turn of the century were probably the only footballing country in Europe larger than Scotland that were worse than us. Is this because the authorities rested on their laurels whilst everyone else moved on? Does it take 40/50 years for all the organizational deadwood to clear out and allow the national team to start again? Are Croatia doomed to be pish in the 2040's?
  13. Really? According to Ewan Murray the crop of players we have now are no better than 10 years ago https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/oct/11/steve-clarke-is-the-difference-maker-scotland-must-not-lose-to-any-club An incredible take from him.
  14. That's not the case. He has been performing well for a while and I wasn't that bothered about him TBF. It is only since the start of the summer he has been the outstanding performer in that league (if you take Messi out of the equation). My main gripe is that doesn't seem to have changed some people's opinion of him even in the slightest. I think it is probably right that Clarke isn't picking him (just yet). If he keeps up this form into the new season in Feb/Mar 24 then there could be chance he gets brought in for some friendlies so that he doesn't lose the option of playing for Canada if it doesn't work out.
  15. Because he might, and I stress might, be a game changer. The MLS isn't all that but it is certainly better then the SPFL, and he is one of the best players in that league.
  16. Somebody should tell them to forget about him. He played 5 games for Hibs about 5 years ago and was pish.
  17. What is the exact age beyond which you should only be judged on your historical performances years ago, with any current sensational upturn in form dismissed out of hand? Surely it must be more than 27.
  18. I have never thought Gauld merited a call-up at any point in his career until the last month or so. He is not just performing well in the MLS - he is the top ranked player in terms of returns. The run has been going since May so it might just be a fluke. He got another assist again last night: 22 games, 20 starts, 12 goals, 14 assists.
  19. My only concern is perhaps there might be a bit of conservatism and an aversion to dragging players around on 10 hour flights. I hope not.
  20. Dunno, But there is only one way to find out.
  21. It was true. It probably isn't now. The facts have changed. You have obviously made up your mind so there is nothing he can do. He wasn't good enough in his early twenties and that is him set in stone
  22. but I suspect he'd seriously struggle to displace any of the current midfield Really? Maybe Stuart Armstrong is criminally wasted as a fring squad player in a mediocre championship side having a single assist in 18 months when he could be out in the US ripping up the MLS instead, but I doubt it
  23. South American and Asian countries accept that players will travel huge distances for internationals mid season. We should as well. The England performance has shown we can't be complacent.
