  1. found cash heaps time in bars on floor - most was 40 quid in Port Rush - goes towards Keabs and beer anything traceable would hand in - few times chased after folk who have dropped/left behind cell phones I've lost stuff, which have been traceable with diary with home address etc in them and not a cheap
  2. living in texas - was @ work today, and not even discussed about the shooting couple weeks back 1 of the houses in the street (gated area) earlier in evening got a safe stolen - solution for my friend and neighbour was to go and get their handguns and place them in holster & walk about the street .......... apparently my friends know the uncle of the shooter - they live about 130 miles south of Udvale
  3. i was kind of speaking about current income not retirement income - i didn't want to come across as meaning that saving is easy for everyone, because people have their own cost base, and while the UK average salary is around 35K i think - there is peaks and troughs and figures are distorted by 9-15 Million in London/London Metropolitan Area I've always saved one way or another from age 19/20 but the values have increased significantly this last 12 years, due to salary - so easy to make sweeping statements which are not appropriate for other peoples circumstances as you say Although as they say - life is for living, and money is not worth so much to you at 80 I just don't want to be working until the age of my colleagues - although i have colleagues at 63-67 who enjoy coming to work, and being challenged, and continue to plan to work - although this is all office based and guys are very well paid
  4. my thought process is quite simple - always spend from income not savings although - income does need to be of reasonable size, and most peoples peak earnings are at 47, so people can afford more as they age @ one time i was paying 37% of salary into pension @ employer was 16%, basically wiping out the 40% tax bracket - currently pay in 19% and employer is 9% (same employer but different contracts ) That is on way into savings - on way out when i plan to take drawdown, do not expect to pay taxes because will be located in are, where overseas earned pensions are not taxed
  5. can avoid the Income tax by inheritance into a pension - or if pension was under a QROPS but that is off at another tangent
  6. not sure that's logical - Folk who live in Houston take 40 minutes to drive to centre of Houston
  7. depends if you mean by american terms an american in Houston may say they live near Laredo due to being 335 miles away - Length of Scotland is 264 miles from top to bottom - so everyone could live near the highlander filming Everyone should be within a 4-5 hour drive at longest from most of the film sites I think it takes 14 hours to drive east to west texas as a comparator
