Doesn’t matter now. Third or tenth best budget, the outcome was the same. What we know is that Falkirk came into the season on the back of near oblivion so weren’t spending beyond our means but instead counting every penny, servicing high overheads, and improving how we raised money commercially and from fans. Seems to have worked.

Whenever we played Inverness in the past the boy Oakley always looked a handful. I see he's now at Cappielow, and given that we can take anything Morten value any time we feel like it.....
Unless I’ve missed a subsequent story, he’s available in the summer too: https://gmfc.net/george-oakley-becomes-our-third-january-signing/

I don’t for a second believe there’s any blind loyalty or automaticity with McGlynn’s squad management. He’ll be making a cool judgement based on his vast knowledge of our leagues and what he knows he can get for his budget.

Can't agree more, the arrogance of the BOD at the time was disgraceful. When you make headlines all over Europe on fans forums for the disdain you show to your supporters then you know you're in the wrong job.
FFC fans are no different than most, we simply expect the team and club to operate at a level consistent with the size and finances it has in the league it's in. If we were in England we wouldn't expect to be a Championship side but we do in Scotland, and it's not unrealistic to expect us to be pushing for the Premier League place when you consider that Livingston , Ross County, St f*kin Johnstone etc are in there and have been consistently.
I still think Falkirk fans can be a wee bit more intense than many others, but that goes both ways, not just the angry stuff. Look at how we’ve stuck by our team not just in terms of numbers and noise, but also funding and even managing the club.
As sure as eggs is eggs, we’ll see tough times again but at least we’ll own the levers to do something about it.

The Falkirk Stadium is in Grangemouth. No fannying around with that. I have evidence. And that’s okay - most Falkirk fans come from Grangemouth. We’re the hardcore. It’s an honour to us purebloods that the stadium came to The Port.
Edited to add: I love it when folk rely on postcodes to argue differently. That means you trust the Post Office computers.

And then, for the final game of the season, a now doubt showpiece occasion with all that that will entail, our contracted goalkeeper will find himself dumped back on to the bench in favour of someone who will be on the way back to England a few days later.
Because it takes place in May.
I'll continue to call this situation for the absolute farce it is, irrespective of our league position. That it hasn't done us any damage is far more through luck than judgement.
“Absolute farce” give your head a wobble and shake out the dust for f**k’s sake. We’re winning the league at a canter and you’re getting all angry about a peripheral issue.

What, like the disrespect afforded to Hogarth when, a week after a MOTM performance at Kelty Hearts, he was unceremoniously dumped in favour a short-term signing who is demonstrably no better a goalkeeper than he is?
Certainly would not meet my criteria of being "treated well"
Nonsense. McGlynn has been open about his rotation policy. And even if it was, two wrongs wouldn’t make a right.

We’re hardly going to be sanctioned for selecting our own goalkeeper. If the implications of non-adherence to this so-called contract are that we are no longer furnished with loan players from Lincoln City then that’s a cross we’ll have to bear
Long playing another minute of first-team football is a now a complete waste of time.
That’s a bit disrespectful. Long has done well for us and had a good season. He deserves to be treated well.

I’m glad he’s signed again. Decent keeper and will only get better. And keeps the champions together. I trust McGlynn here.

Apologies, I only mentioned Falkirk as they are the big fish at the moment. I have no idea how often your loan players feature. I simply made the point that if you already have a comparatively big squad, augmenting it with loan players is clearly not as necessary as it is for a team like ourselves, who with smaller squads can in the course of the season find ourselves really stretched through players picking up injuries.
The reality is that our over reliance on loan players, who did not return to us after New Year left our squad very depleted last season and I think was a major factor in our poor finish in comparison with previous years.
If the loan player system is to work for us, we need the benefit to the sending club to be fairly balanced with the benefit to ourselves.
Get your point and probably agree with it. We don’t have a large squad at Falkirk anymore. What we have done more this season is move out players who weren’t getting a game (Lawal, Allan, McKay) and replace them with good loan signings (Ross, Tait) while augment other positions (Long, Bisland). It is a double-edged sword - some loan signings don’t work - we’ve had a couple of the past few years. Going back further, it’s also worked spectacularly well - Scmeichel, Stokes, McManus. You just rarely ever get to keep them when they’re good.

As long as we win, which will be tough, it’ll be another record: every opponent beaten home and away. We’ve now beaten every team in the league and scored at least three at least once in a game. Other records still available…
(I know this is geeky and obsessive but I’m thinking about the new display in the Brockville Bar…)

That’s the tattoo. Imagine what we can achieve if we just keep going?

Symmetry if we win at Montrose. I hope Ally McRoberts will be there.

Houston was a bigger deal than Stainrod as a Falkirk player for me. Stainrod was great, but it was glamour over substance.

My dad used to talk about Kenny Dawson as being the benchmark for any Falkirk player I watched when I was young, including Kevin McAllister. By all accounts, a magnificent player and one who served Falkirk from 1935 until 1951.
A legend is a legend if a single fan thinks he is.

Unpopular opinion, but Hamilton might be daft to sack Rankin if they fail in the play offs. They’re far and away better than the 8 clubs underneath them and it’s difficult to see Arbroath being that strong. A whole lot of upheaval and expense otherwise.

More of the same, a good result but not a great performance. Will more than take this trend if it continues into the play-offs, but I can't see us troubling the championship side with these performances.
Falkirk fans, the ones on here anyway, have shown many times that they are an obsessive bunch.
Yep, we care and we keep turning up, no matter how bad things get.

I don’t know who has got the bigger obsession in Scottish football.
Celtic fans with Rangers finances or Falkirk fans with anything Paul Hartley touches. I mean Christ i don’t like the boy but you lot are still holding a grudge, it’s quite impressive actually.
It’s quite justified. The w****r.

If we can get to a situation where there’s two credible starters for each position in a squad of 22, then I think we’ll do well. I certainly don’t want to write any current starter off but we’ll see what JM brings in.
