  1. Hi Montrose fans, coming up for the game on Saturday, we have tickets for the home end.  For a segregated match like this, do home fans enter by the main stand, or is it via the turnstiles at the covered terracing end where the wee car park is?

Also, any recommenced areas to park bearing in mind the big crowd?Don’t mind a 10/15 minute walk if it’s better parking a bit further away, not in any great rush after.

    Thanks all.

Sticking up for the lad who has done everything he possibly could to get out of the dump that is Central Park as soon as he could. What a club!

That’s because we are an intelligent and reasonable bunch, and can see the bigger picture, although naturally quite a few are disappointed Calum has gone.  On the other hand, you are a gibbering moron incapable of any sensible opinions at all.

Wonder who will take our remaining games as kevin smith is away with callum

I don’t know how Kevin was as a coach, but I thought he would contribute something as a player, sadly absolutely nothing.

His most notable contribution was coming on as a sub against St Mirren, promptly getting sent off, and possibly costing us what would have been a well deserved draw.

Yer team sitting 11th in a league below the SPFL.

Is that acceptable and why would a team want to bring in a manager from a team mid table below them?

    Is he that good?

It’s not acceptable where we are in the table, and as you are aware some fans have voiced opinions that a change is needed.

Calum carries himself very well, always seems very calm and measured.

However, I have been increasingly annoyed with some of the performances this season, especially the repeated defensive lapses that are driving everyone nuts.

As to why Bonnyrigg would want a manger of a middling LL team, no idea, need to ask them 😀

I wouldn’t be in favour of replacing him at this stage, so hoping that it’s not true, but sounds like it is.

Bloke on the League 2 forum saying the new Bonnyrigg manager being announced today has the initials CE....

Be disappointed if Calum goes, could kind of understand if he wanted to take on the challenge of keeping Bonnyrigg up.

If it’s the case, better now than deciding in June or July wants to move on.

I would seriously doubt this. Outside of a small handful of teams topped by EK who can spend big, many teams run on modest budgets. The ex-spfl clubs with their initial parachute payments all probably had reasonable budgets when they were first relegated and those teams budgets have fluctuated depending on added external investment (east Stirlingshire for example). Add to that their larger fan bases, experience of recruitment and different levels of finance, plus their board members and all the connections and partnerships they’ve had over the years, they are probably in a better place than many of the other lowland league teams.
There is definitely more money in the league than there has ever been but for many teams there ability to compete is built on the experience and recruiting skills of their managers.

If the likes of the Strollers and Broomhill (for example) were living off the money through the gate, they’d be paying their players about £25 a week, and I doubt that’s the case.

I’m not aware either club has much in the way off lottery or other fan funded stuff.

So what's the alternative a falling stone into the East of Scotland Leagues? I agree though unfortunately it's all about the money it would seem even at this level  😢

It feels like almost every club in the LL is heavily subsidised, not sure where we stand in the scheme of things as seem to have a lot of fan funded initiatives, but clubs like Strollers and Broomhill must be getting money pumped in big style.

The attendance included well over 100 Blue Brazil children and parents, primary school class and ex players. If you the add in the Berwick fans, it was poor.

The push was to pack out Central Park and for supporters to return. I know of many that weren't there. People make negative comments on social media but don't turn up for an important event.

I maybe thought the announced crowd was the paid admission,  realised the kids and their parents were freebies and it was a great idea, there was a great wee atmosphere when we arrived about 2.15 and heard all the drumming on the west terrace.

Hope you are all not too downhearted about it all, the effort was really appreciated.

  9. One thing that cheered me up yesterday when I got home from the match was that the postie had been with a wee bit of Cowdenbeath memorabilia I had bought on EBay for a modest amount, thought some of you might be interested.

It was listed as Cowdenbeath autographs from 1963/64.  The fact that it is on club notepaper is what I thought was brilliant about it, with ‘2nd division champions 1938/39’ underneath the club name.

I think that date might be not far off, as doing a little research in the club history booklets I noticed that William Terris was only chairman for a short time from April 1964 to December that year when he passed away.  So I suppose it must be April 1964 or later.

i could make out or knew some of the names, there were a couple in the middle that eluded me until I found the Arbroath results archive which had full team lineup for games back that far, so I was able to work out Andy Miller and Tommy Duddy (I think).

I reckon the full list is (any corrections appreciated)

Jim Menzies, Tom Dawson, Bobby Wilson (in pencil!), Jimmy Whyte (trainer), John Ritchie, Andy Miller, Andy Guthrie, Tommy Duddy, Roger Sugden, Dennis Jack, Andy Rolland.

It’s only about half a page size, a little bigger than A5, I think.  Can I call the operator and be put trough to Cowdenbeath 3205 please? 😀

You’re right Clyde01, they are ‘basic’ but we’ve only been in the SPFL for 2 seasons. Are our facilities any worse than Cowdenbeath or Albion Rovers who were until recently in the SPFL? Once (if!!) we get a few seasons of SPFL revenues, the Club will invest in the infrastructure and make things better - but the Committee are clear, they’re not going to burden the Club with debt to make unsustainable improvements.

What folks need to realise is teams in the LL are getting half your revenues (lower crowds, lower ticket prices, less chance of Cup revenues, less cash from the SFA), is it any wonder our facilities are more ‘basic’? Give us time (or investment!!) and we’ll get there!

Much as I feel queasy every time I think of that play off game in 2022, and the pitch itself is very strange, I think you guys have done really well in incrementally making improvements without having buckets of cash, so to be too critical of the facilities is unfair. Particularly by a bunch of sofa surfers.

Hopefully one day I feel strong enough to return to NDP 😀

It was the group behind the goals near the end. They looked about late teens, early twenties and were enjoying the day (a few of them definitely had too much to drink). They were goading (as you would expect) some of the Cowden fans who left before the end and a few got over excited and there was a brief scuffle, just handbags. The Cowden fan was a similar age. The stewards appeared (haven't seen so many at a game for ages) and stopped it becoming anything more.

Yeah that was them, they camped themselves first half at the far end of the terracing where we usually stand. General pains In the arse. We moved along a bit as couldn’t be doing with any bother, it was no big deal to shift along for one game.  It was good to see a decent travelling support apart from these wee tubes.

If it was a wee bit of handbags with them and a couple of Cowden lads then nothing really to bother about, boys will be boys.

Attacking kids out of the blue. Embarrassing! Enjoy your day 😘

If it was those badly dressed stone island clad casual wannabe bellends, they were not kids. Total arseholes, absolute shambles they were, and if they got a slap they would likely have deserved it.

If it was genuine kids caught up in something, totally not on.

Grabbing kids by the throat and launching kicks at them might be the normal thing to do in Cowdenbeath, but it's not for everyone else. Still, we'll promise to work on it if you promise to work on taking getting absolutely demolished by Tam Scobbie's Gers better. The only regret anyone can have from yesterday is not capturing a photograph Jamie McCormack's stunning celebration as he got it up the genetic inferiors of Fife. Happy reunion day - hope you enjoyed the 60 minutes of it you stuck about for!

Yet £115k (if I remember correctly) down the drain later, we’re still a point ahead of you with a game in hand. Congratulations on your amazing season.

He wasn't the only one. Too many players aren't good enough not if we are thinking about getting out of this league.

Ha ha, I badly worded that, it was me doing the muttering and moaning, though expect he was as well. 😀

Calum was in the old stand for part of the 2nd half, re Kevin i'm sure all this would have been arranged ages ago long before Calun's ban an probably before the reunion day was announced.

We were in the old stand second half, never noticed him, spent most of the time muttering and moaning about just about everything. 🤣

Albeit this involved a blatant offside

Fair enough, but doesn’t take away from the fact that we made the 39 year old centre half look like prime Beckenbauer in that passage of play.

Callum had a ban and Smith was at a stag do.

I thought I saw Kevin Smith sitting on the bench, clearly it wasn’t! That makes some sense now, thanks.

Thanks, I didn’t notice him. I think the fans deserve an explanation.

Wow just wow a dreadful and embarrassing performance from the players, let the club down massively after a great effort getting bodies through the door. Hope berwick enjoyed their big day out a nice turnout from them and well deserved winners. Can anyone tell me why on earth joe cardle managed our team today

Who was the dude with the dark hair and beard in our dugout getting very excited when the game was well gone?
