  1. That's perfect then if it's checked every time and is so quick it's not noticed. That's the VAR I want most of the time and I can live with some extended periods where a wait is needed to get it 100% right.
  2. Maybe the rules, but not how it is always applied. Been plenty of TV games where they think a VAR check is being made after a goal and it's not.
  3. We copy England all the time. I have no doubt we will do the same again and follow what they matured their VAR usage into which was from being overly officious in the first season, to not so much. It's also still a new and maturing system. It will continue to change - like the laws of the game constantly do. That's not correct. As you don't know how Scotland I'll implement it. It's implemented differently to varying degrees everywhere it's used. Dont get me wrong, I'm not a VAR evangelist, but I think it's better to have it than not to get corre t decisions Vs it evens itself out. I suppose that's where the split in opinion comes.
  4. VAR operated correctly (i.e. not like it was when it was first brought in down south) works well I think. But people need to understand it won't solve everything and there will still be ambiguity...just less ambiguity. I'm fine with it coming in. It will mean more correct decisions across the board overall.
  5. I basically want to get into Europe solely so we don't have to play in the league cup group stage
  6. I'm just very split on the whole thing in the 'battle for 4th'. No pun intended. Dundee Utd are no great shakes We are no great shakes Ross co are also no great shakes. I maintain the fact they have won their last few games due to a penalty masks this good form everyone is crowing about. So, I'm going positive and think there's no reason we can't go and do what we need to do. Meanwhile all 3 of us will get beat playing old firm and Hearts.
  7. I'll be happy with 6th too. But I spoke to the lads and they said it will be 4th. Just been keeping things in reserve this year for the post split push.
  8. Dundee Utd have won 2 league games in the last 10. We shouldn't think we can't go up there and beat them. Ross County have been on some run recently, granted. However they've had some rub of the green. The last 3 wins coming via 1-0 wins and all penalties. Even the January win against us involved a penalty and an OG. We shouldn't think we can't go up there and beat them either. I say we finish 4th and then go on holiday.
  9. Aye, would be interesting to see how the club/manager sold the plans to the new players. Woolery and Slattery could be very well aware that the manager intended to play a squad game and rotate things. Whereas the players inherited by Alexander who have jumped ship (Watt, Maldini, O'Hara) perhaps have different expectations. Which is fair enough.
  10. Speaking to a board member recently (prior to the last couple if games taking place yesterday) this is pretty much spot on BUT they are well aware of the fans views on the style of play at times. They are of course fans themselves too but with a different hat on it times. Results since turn of the year, style of play has been discussed and although the line was 'we are not a sacking club' it was also said everyone is under constant review.
  11. There's as much overthinking going on on fan forums over this international break as there is in GA's heed for team selections In my mind there's no silver bullet. It's a bit of everything really...bit of tactics, bit of team selection, bit of luck/lack of, bit of poor man management, bit of stubbornness, bit of players chucking in horror individual errors too, bit of injury, bit of Covid....bit of a rubbish season.
  12. Why? Inside knowledge from connected mates and the likes? Or just putting 2 + 2 together?
  13. Alexander is getting, quite rightly, bodied about for the way we setup and not getting a settled squad. But to be honest, some of the players do have to take a look at themslves as some of the individual mistakes we've seen have been absolutely horrendous and nothing to do with the setup or formation. Is a lovely big combination of everything going pretty badly - from soft and shite individual defending, to not scoring goals, to not setting up the right way, to not changing things mid game quick enough, to not having a settled team or settled partnerships. What a lot of fun.
  14. With this talk of unrest, who has re-signed a contract under Alexander? It's more than have left on a free is it not? McGinley, Mugabi, Maguire, and perhaps could argue Kelly and Roberts too after extending loan stints?
  15. Aye, I'm not fussed about O'Hara not signing up again. He's ok but that's about it. We need different players in midfield than what we currently have.
  16. If Lasley isn't a silver bullet I don't know who is.....if ye get me guys. Guys? Anyone?
  17. I think that's accurate. I'd expect that the board, not just CEO, the whole board, to be well aware that targets and measure of success have to change as a season unfolds. Just because we gave the management team a target of make it to a quarter final(s) and keep us safe this year, with a stretch target of top 6, that this season is deemed a 'boxes all ticked' exercise if we end up bottom 6. Where we sat at the end of 2021 should have meant that by now we are comfortably top 6 and pushing for European spots. The reason he won't be sacked is we can still technically finish 4th and get a European spot. For now.
  18. I just can't see the board sacking him given he's got most of his new 3 year deal to run and is still able to get us top 6 football. Don't get me wrong...I'd like it to happen as the football and results are dire. But just can't see it
  19. Can't see that happening to be honest. He's just signed the new deal to 2024, and I can't see anyone stumping up enough money to the point we sell him this year.
  20. Aye, I'm pretty much on board with this view too to be honest. If we don't make the Top 6 then it's very likely we've not won in the last 3 games left. If that's the case he gets binned straight away.
  21. Aye, I wouldn't disagree but purely on paper we do have the easier and more winnable games I reckon. I'd rather be facing who we are facing than than having to face Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs even.
  22. Quite the run in to the split now. I'd say ourselves and Dundee Utd (on paper) are favourites to get 2 of the 3 spots up for grabs. Hibs and Ross County will find it tough. Winnability (imo) Most winnable Dundee U v St Mirren, Hibs, Dundee Us v St J, St. Mirren, Livi A bit winnable Livi v Hearts, St J, Us St Mirren v Dundee Utd, Us, Rangers Aberdeen vs. Hibs, Dundee, Ross C Least winnable Hibs v Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts Ross C v Celtic, Hearts, Aberdeen
  23. If you have an email receipt ticket confirmation and it says on it 'Add Access to Card' with '£0.00' beside it then it's on your card.
