How many are injury prone players though?

MacPhersons always been a crock. Clarks injury is one he had a few years before he joined. Kanes been unavailable for the best part of 2 years because he keeps hitting set backs, same with Booth. Sinclairs now had at least 2 surgeries in the last 2 years and seems to have had constant bother with his wrists before that.

So thats 5 players you shouldnt be that surprised are out.

Wright was run into the ground last season and played while carrying a knock this season so its hardly a shock hes injured too, and you wouldnt say its bad luck.

I dunno. It shouldn't be that surprising we have so many injuries and id be surprised if it doesnt haunt us all season with the squad as is.

Very fair points - the majority of the injured ones are quite injury prone but I was thinking back over the last couple of years and seem to remember a whole bunch of muscle injuries and niggles? Most of them probably to the injury prone players right enough 😂

Wright probably shouldnt have started Saturday but we’re short on the wings so needs must. Steven is more of a forward but might be able to do a job there this weekend? Unless we change shape and maybe go 433

It cracks me up. It's the fitness experts that make me laugh.

5 stone over weight guys with their great ideas to solve the injuries. Comments of "they're training too hard" "the fitness coach clearly doesn't have a clue what he's doing" "the fitness coach should be sacked" etc.

They're very keen on the suggestions without the first clue what level or training they're doing or even the a basic idea about the fitness required at that kind of level. A few of them were passing comment on "there's not much hope if that's how tired Gallagher is already" while evidently not having the first clue what a bleep test is and that he was the last player left.

Football is about opinions but on subjects like fitness, it's somewhat more complex for obvious reasons than "just train less" and you'll get less injuries.

You’re completely right on the fitness point, but I do think - and am sure they will be - that the club need to look at why we pick up so many muscle injuries compared to other clubs. We can’t be that unlucky surely?

  3. You probably have to chuck McClelland in to the defence on Saturday I guess? Alongside Considine?

It’s a huge gamble but what else can we do?

I feel a bit sorry for Gordy - I wasn’t at the game on Sat but he’s such a passionate guy for Saints and has just not taken the pressure if the captains armband well which seems to have ruined his game and confidence.

I’ll probably get pelters for this but I would give the armband to either Considine or McGowan just now as I dont see any other options, let Gordy get on with playing and finding some confidence again

No, certainly not for the money he'd want.

Theres something there but we need folk with heart and ability this season, and thats not him.

I would take him back tbh. He suits the system being played better now rather than the way he was used by davidson under his second spell. I very much doubt we could offer him what he would want anyway but for the right money he could be an asset.

i don’t think there is any doubting he has ability

  5. Was there not a comment at the last forum (before last night) that Sinclair was the only one who had been offered a new contract until our top flight status was confirmed.

That’s a good 3 months or so ago now, so maybe this is planning for the future as Ross has either indicated he’s not going to sugn another contract, or dragged his feet too long?

    just speculating mind

I'm at the point where I'd probably be happy to take 4 guys on loan who are keen and hungry to impress and maybe an experienced back up goalie if we are looking to sign 5 players. Short termist but it means we'd be able to completely cleanse ourselves of the mess left behind by Davidson next summer. I really could do without us signing numerous 33 year olds on multi year deals again this summer and that seems to be where this is headed. I can't see us spending fees on players given how much money we've chased after bad over the last 18 months so that seems like the least worst option to me now the gettable lower league players who deserved a shot in the top flight are now all taken

If we got 4 Milchell’s/montgomerys I would agree - get our young lads on loan to a good level and ready for next season. If we get 4 dendonker’s maybe not so much

Jamie MacDonald is a good, solid back-up goalie and, despite what the manager is saying, would mean Ross Sinclair is going to be number one.

I can see why managers might not be keen on a player/coach in a goalkeeping role but it would have freed up budget if it was decided that Sinclair was going to get the nod.

This is where I am with it too. Would be a solif back up option.
