I really like Monty and taken entirely in isolation I think it’s a good signing, he’s mostly done really well for us and I’m happy to see him back.
It’s the longer term plan that’s clearly the problem. I’m hoping the plan is to get Gallacher out on loan for a few months to the championship, get a bunch of games under his belt and be ready to make the jersey his own next season. The potential is there with him. Sounds far too sensible though eh so that’s not happening

There’s absolutely no chance that we’ve not tried to keep him, it’s definitely either St Johnstone or Cammy himself that has decided he’s not coming back to Montrose.
Thanks, I did wonder as he seems to have done really well for you.

Just 12 months ago wasnt it?
He played 91 league minutes for us.
Just over a thousand pounds per minute roughly for his transfer fee

Perhaps it was Montrose that sent him back as opposed to Saints recalling him!!!
Possible sure, but given he has played 90 games for them and their manager really rates him I would be surprised. Be interesting to hear a Montrose fan take on it

Cammy Ballantyne getting punted out on loan again it seems, theyre "looking at Ireland" for a club, as for some reason we gave him 23 minutes v East Fife before loaning him to Montrose, so he cant play for another Scottish club.
Hes played 23 minutes in total for us since signing a new 2 year deal a year ago. Absolute waste of everyones time.
Bobby Dailly and Spencer Moreland also likely to be loaned out again.
While Max has "been unlucky" to play just 133 minutes this season, despite being great in training and in attitude, and John Mahon "needs game time", according to the man who makes the decision to never put either any where the park.
If he’s not coming back to us to play Why no just leave him at montrose for the season ffs? Surely not a huge difference between league 1 and league of Ireland and we can keep a closer watch on him here?
a baffling decision.

The "board" will just blame Saints fans for not turning up and backing their team. They will see this as full vindication of their decision to give Rangers all four sides of the stadium when we next play them. The utter charlatan running the club will talk of a "modest" turn out again.
I can genuinely see them giving them the end of the main stand for the cup now too

The irony of this entire shambles is that any extra money the club makes from additional tickets to Rangers will be completely offset by Saints fans not turning up. Club could end up worse off financially if only a few hundred Saints turn up (that looks a best case scenario now!), as well as long term damage done with supporters What a mess.

It’s good to see Gallagher back but having barely kicked a ball since his injury he better not get hung out to dry if he’s not fully on it today. He’ll need time to find the level he was starting to reach pre-injury

He's maybe been a good fit at St Johnstone but he would not fit the system we are trying to play. He'd be caught on the break several times a game. He's also far too ponderous on the ball if expected to do anything other than play it down the line.
Fair enough

It was absolutely not the wrong decision to let Considine go.
Are you sure? He’s been excellent for us and has some great leadership qualities, something Aberdeen seem to be lacking at the moment?

Get May and Clark back playing more closely together as a proper front two again and we might give ourselves a chance!

Would people offer Murray Davidson and Chris Kane new deals?
Muzz no, Kane too early to say. Would wait until we see how he returns from injury. However, if we did it would have to be on reduced terms reflecting the fact he hasn’t kicked a ball for a year.

Really poor. Struggling to see what our tactics are up front, was the same on Wednesday. Trying to shoehorn someone in between may and clark who end up playing too far apart. I thought murphy had a good game but the team is hamstrung when we don’t play a front 2 together. Surely you play Wotherspoon, crawford or murphy in hole behind the front 2 and they play more closely together? Baffled why we stuck with that shape after it didn’t work v hearts. The gaps between the strikers are unreal.
Game was crying out for someone yo put their foot on the ball and link play.
Felt sorry for the likes of Bair and Mikey who have had so little football but expected to come on and be match sharp. Not fair on them.
absolutely scunnered tonight. Utd fully deserving of the win.

One thing I will say is the pricing isn't a Saints decision on it's own.
If the two clubs can't agree a price its set by the SFA at a set price. Which would have probably been very similar if not the same as the price that has been set.
Saints can't override anything if Rangers don't agree.
That’s a fair point on the pricing - it could have been imposed, or at least Saints were told that’s what would be imposed. The club should come out and say that if it’s the case though - would take some of the heat out of it at least

And Gallacher i think.
He was really starting to show something pre-injury and definitely has the potential to be the long term option at lwb. Assuming we keep Monty for the season I would agree get Gallagher out on loan and ready to come back and hit the ground running for pre-season with a bunch of games under his belt.

I can feel the enthusiasm building for this one
No idea how we line up but it’s a nice problem to have. Sounds like Phillips deserves to keep his place as DM but suspect more experienced head will get the nod so McGowan likely to step in there alongside Halberg.
We’ll look to be defensive early doors so Brown will get one of the wing back slots, I think probably on the right with Booth coming back in on the left - whether he has 90 minutes in him who knows. Seems a risk to chuck him in with no competitive football under his belt, so was surprised not to see him on the bench at County.
mitchell back in to defence and strikers pick themselves just now.

It's not Shaughnessy I've heard about. Further position up the park ( actually doubting if he started a game with us when he was on our books ).
John Robertson? Based on absolutely nothing other than he seems to have found his feet with a regular run of games and developed a fair bit in the last year. I’m sure his stats show how much he has kicked on?

I think the noises about looking at players like Paton from QoS are really positive for me. Exactly the sort of move I think fans would back (even if it ultimately didn’t work out) to help the transition again to bringing the squad age profile down.
Callum absolutely deserves the full backing of everyone just now, and a chance to see if he can re-balance the squad over next 2/3 windows with a gradual transition.
He has brought together a squad with bite and fight again, addressed the short term issues, and now very much deserves the opportunity to address longer term future.
Appreciate concerns about squad size and wage bill but on flip side we are going to lose a few undoubtedly high earners in either Jan or summer - Vertainen, Mahon and O’Hallaron spring to mind. I would imagine this will be Muzz final season with us too.
The loanees will go back to their parent clubs and the likes of Gilmour will leave. That could take the squad doen to maybe 20 and leave space for 3/4 quality younger signings and keep squad size a little smaller.
The likes of Bair, Max will have bigger roles to play too so there is potentially a transition plan in place.

Hallberg is definitely suspended and fairly sure McGowan has picked up the six bookings required for a suspension, although he’s not listed on the suspension list. No clue if Mitchell’s red would’ve been a one or two game ban
Thanks

Do we not have a bunch of suspensions for this?

He has. I was very critical of his midfield in midweek, and would still argue dropping Murphy for Crawford was wrong, but there’s not a huge amount of options right now in fairness.
I think Max deserves an opportunity. The kind of energy he brings could be really important tomorrow.

I started the week a week bit optimistic for this, but then I watched our midweek performance at Kilmarnock, which I didn’t see coming, and now don’t have a clue what to expect from us.
Celtic haven’t been in top form recently either but you’ve got to expect it’ll click back into place for them sometime soon. A couple of breaks for us like their og v Motherwell or Hart’s pass straight to a striker would be more than welcome.
We could be doing with a few midfield options getting back to fitness; Davidson, Wotherspoon, MacPherson, Phillips and Carey all being out is a hell of chunk out of our squad, as you’d expect just about all of them would be starting or on the bench if fit.
When you look at that list of injuries, before you start even throwing in kane , gallagher, booth and now adding montgomery and mclennan in to the mix the manager really has had awful, awful luck on the injury front.
we might have a squad of 30 but it seems at least 6-10 are always injured at the same time

Wish we had more vegan options tbh.
Vegan pies at a Scottish football ground - kinda wish I had gone now!
