  1. Personally I think the Scottish Championship is a very good league.  At least half the teams are fighting for the top, and the other half are fighting to avoid the trapdoor.  Makes for very few meaningless games, and although the majority of the players are not exactly Messi or Ronaldo, they give their all and what they maybe lack in skill they make up for in effort.  The Scottish Championship is one of the most competitive leagues there are.  Much better than the Premiershit and that carry on down south.  Probably the closest match to the Scottish Championship for competition (obviously not quality) would be the English Championship.  Several teams there are always in with a shout to get up.
Incidentally, as a 'neutral-ish' for last nights game I thought it was a decent end to end match.  I say neutral-ish because I honestly didnt care who wins until the inevitable scenes at the Excelsior where they try to make it look like Ibrox.  The butchers apron everywhere.  That coupled with the fact we canny buy a win over Airdrie!

  2. Never understood these crowd w**k posts.  What does it matter at the end of the day?

All I care about is I am a Raith fan, and I attend the games with my family.  That has the effect of them NOT going to follow the arrse cheeks in Glesgae.

Size of the crowd does not reflect on how well a team are doing or not.  Its more to do with the demographics and catchment areas.   An example of demographics would be Livingston.  Slap bang in the middle of Edinburgh and the Weeg.  Town created for the overspill of Glasgow.  Therefore a high percentage are obviously followers of the arse cheeks.  Then another relatively high percentage will follow the Edinburgh pretendy arsecheeks.  Also the fact they WERE an Edinburgh side (Meadowbank Thistle who also had a shit support), moving to a new town, they have no chance of getting decent crowds.

And if you want more proof?  Rovers beat Dunfermline 5 times this season.  Dunfermlines crowds are still relatively higher than the Rovers.  Rovers ran Dundee United close for the league most of the season.  Dunfermline were touch and go for a while near the relly playoff, but bounced back to mid table mediocrity.  Dunfermline have a bigger cathment area, and it is growing.  Dunfermline is the fastest growing TOWN in Scotland population wise and house building wise.  So that will continue.

    Deserves it tbf.

TBF McGrymm would have got us promoted from that league this season with his list of duds he left us with at the time....  Even East Fife could have walked that league (OK maybe a bit ott but more a dig at the EF fanny that trolls our forum).

Not a fan of him and his 'football'.  Was glad when he exited Starks Park.

  4. Last league game.  Been a good season (with the exception of a few against Arbroath and Airdrie).  Looking forward to the playoffs, getting to the final.  However I think the premier team will be too strong for us over 2 legs to be appearing in FIFA 25.
Not too disappointed though as the Championship is by far the best league in Scotland.  Hate the Premier and its self preservation attitudes.  If we get there, fine.  I'll 'put up with it'. :D

Playoffs confirmed as being Tuesday 14th (away) and Friday 17th (home).

Has the away to Ross County in the final dates been sorted?  Need to get that in my diary and book the day off.....
My record at Victoria Park is pretty good.
Played 1, Won 1, Goals For 5, Goals Against 0......

Yes last time I was there we pumped them 5-0 in the first cup game of a certain wee run........

  6. In the upcoming close season, we need to get the defence sorted.  Thats a given.  Lewis Stevenson has been joining the Rovers every pre season for the last 7 years......
Him and Hanlon I would agree though will certainly give us the experience and strength at the back we are lacking.  Its the defence that have cost us the title this season.  No two ways about it.

After the playoffs (which unfortunately I don't think we will win - prem teams too strong and too much advantage), we need to be getting the business done with prioritisation and the defence is n.o 1.

The only player I would be scrambling to re-sign would be Matthews.  He is the ideal engine room player.  Not fancy but does the hard work.  As for the rest, I'm ho hum.  Easton last played at Tannadice.  Since then I have no idea what has distracted him but he looks like a squad player, not even really an impact sub.
Dunno the full list of potential departures though so might be another one or two that would be handy to keep....

  7. If Airdrie beat Partick, and then meet us in the semi, I would hope Airdrie would beat St Johnstone or Ross County in the final....  just like any of the Championship teams playing a Prem side who should be down on merit.

We canny buy a win against Airdrie and it kind or irks me.  (They are a good footballing side though).

I hate when other fans give this excuse but each game against Ayr we have been absolutely stinking. Obviously Ayr did something to stop us but the majority of your goals have come from individual defensive errors. Of course you need to put away the chances and Dowds did just that so fair play 👍

Its OK you have made up for it against my lot.......
We break a 23 year long hoodoo against ICT, and a long standing losing streak at Somerset, only to gain a new hoodoo against Airdrie!
TBH Airdrie are one of the better football playing sides in the league.

  9. Now that 2nd has been gelled, and the title is about as likely as the local bigot walkers going for their 12th July jaunt in Celtic tops, I dunno what to make of this tie.

Do we use it and the last two as glorified friendlies, rest the favourites and play the likes of Corr and McGill from the off?
Or do we go for it, and solidify the hoodoo being broken?

If we play like we have the last 3 games we wont be coming from here with the 3 points thats for sure.  We need to up the tempo, up our game and get our heads raised again to do so.

    Mon Rovers!

  10. Wish somebody had asked about a reserve side being formed.  My opinion is that it is a crucial aspect for a club going forward towards the Prem.  Gets injured players match fit and keeps the sqad players fit at the same time.  Can also bleed through some decent young players again and maybe get the next Crawford, Cameron and Dairs coming through.
I know academy was mentioned but thats not the same thing.

All I can say is 'well done'. Been a surprise package this season, my team has been plagued heavily with injuries so couldn't make a stamp on the league. Last night's result against Airdrie was in the making of a team resigned to the play offs. Dundee Utd have began to pull away and with only 4 games to go, they can only chuck it away.  It's only a slim chance that we can make the play offs and if so, the chance to perhaps play against each other would be the making of a grand finale.

No for us it widny!  Your lot are 'due us one'.....

  12. Reckon preparing for the playoffs is a good call.  Then anything better is a bonus..

Hopefully though Morton or Airdrie get their game together to claim 4th over the Pars, as I can see us Raithing it against them in the playoff semi (they ARE due us one as the league games have all been close wins for us).

As to the game, hopefully we play players in their right positions for a change.  Matthews MUST start.

The first three goals Raith scored against Utd this season had their players noising up Utd fans much worse so no excuse for a glass bottle to be thrown as was tame in comparison from Utd players on Saturday

Spot on.  We give it we've got to take it back.  The person responsible has been banned.  Hopefully a precedent has been set and anyone else who thinks its OK to attempt to assault a player will think again.
No need for anyone, fan, director, player, officials, anyone to go to a game and be assaulted.

  14. Fair play to Utd.  We have had our luck against them all season tbh.  We have only ourselves to blame as usual.  At points we could have been 7 clear throughout the season but blew it every time.  Thats now 7 times we could have been on top with a decent advantage.
Murray, as per got it wrong.
Where is our strongest holding midfielder Matthews?  Where was our defence with two ACTUAL centre halfs?  Brown is NOT a centre half.  He is not that great playing there, and he is restricted when he plays there.  He is much better ahead of the defence.
Hamilton should have started.  We know they have a high amount of possession at home, and we would need to hit on the break.  Hamilton would have held up for others to get forward.  He would also have won us set pieces in doing so, and would have niggled them more at the back.
When is Murray going to start leaving someone up the field when defending set pieces?  We have no out ball and the opposition just come straight back at us!
This one is definitely on the manager.  United are definitely a stronger squad but they should be with 4 times anyone elses budget.  The fact we are running them to the wire is unreal, but we must improve!  Drastically.
