I would worry that out of contract players will take a month or so to get anywhere close to match fitness.
OReilly was fine.

Bored at work so been on Transfermarket. It seems that there are a few players without clubs. One notee is John Frederiksen. Released by Armden or whatever they are called - they signed him after we released him. Not much of a helicopter after all.
Anyway, as we still need defenders, thought I would have a look at what are available on a free, seeing as we only have that option or loanees from the Premiershit.
Richard Tait RB 34 Was St Mirren. Been at Motherwell, and bounced about lower leagues in England.
Jake Carroll LB 32 Irish, Motherwell and lower league England
Matt Penney LB 25 English, was Ipswich, previously MotherwellDarren Brownlie CH 29 was Dundalk, formerly Partick and QOS
Never heard of any of them, but might be short termers till the end of the season as they all are looking for clubs...... Anybody any insights into them?0 -
Got to be Arbroath. A PROPER football ground, watching football from a terrace. Decent supporters who you can have a chat with. Decent pie. Grab a few smokies for taking home too.
The rest don't even merit a mention.....Worst for me would be Ayr. Don't get me wrong, a decent proper football ground, but over 2 hours to come home with a beating as usual......? (I've been to Somerset over 20 times and saw us win there ONCE). Not been for a few years.

Point of reference. If Dundee United are allowed to 'get away with it' they will have no problems winning the league.
Both players received a booking for this 'tussle'. Stanger went on to receive a stupid yellow for dissent, whilst Sibbald didn't even receive a talking to for 5+ Deliberate / Professional Fouls.
Sibbald is an animal right enough. In the game at Tannadire he was going for legs rather than the ball and eventually got booked. Could have been more for persistence.
Anyhow, speaking of animals, the Rovers are a wounded animal right now, and animals are at their most dangerous when wounded or cornered (both apply).0 -

Oh aye, regular gubbings at home from about Jan/Feb til the end of the season it seemed like. No idea on game numbers/winless run on that one.
That was the last time we had 5 defeats in a row.......
In 2014/15 within last 6 games of the season.Grant Murray in charge.
Unsurprising the last time we were 6 or more defeats in a row........ When we were due to become Scotlands 3rd force. Yup, the ANELKA dark ages. When we went 7 defeats in a row!!
Season 2004/2005
Anyhow, it is what it is. We now have to look forward, and back the team. It's not our defenders faults that they are really not good enough for top of the league, but the manager seems to think so. We all know we need to strengthen CH and FBs but what can we do. Unless its going to be a youngster from a Prem club our hands are tied. Not telling e its better to play another clubs youngster than Corr, who has never had a bad game that I can remember.......

Seem to recall reading something about re naming stadium as "The Skoda Stadium"......is that the case?
I was being toungue in cheek, while also highlighting a point that the club could make money...
They could call it the sexy big tits arena I would still always call it Starks Park though.

What a difference in the numbers tbh. Just shows how things can change for the better when you have the right people in the right jobs.
Good on the board. The Fife Gretna nonsense quoted by our rivals can get shoved right up their collective arses.
Now, what about a defender coming in before 1130pm guys????? Sort the pitch issues too!

Also wonder why Corr isnt getting a game. The lad is tall, and strong. I honestly cannot think of him having a bad game when he has had the chance.
Bit of trivia - he is the son of Barry-John Corr. Ex Celtic player from a wee while back. He is also my bosses nephew....

Announcement 31st January 2024
Starks Park will now be known as the Skoda Stadium after the club agreed to a sponsorship deal with the Czech car manufacturer.
-Like Skodas, every winter we choke, breakdown and need a push start.

That's an interesting one. No Stanton, No Brown and No Turner.
I think there's not enough dig in that team in my opinion but like the balls to drop players you feel aren't playing that great at the moment.
Also by playing Vaughan in with the other two, you have no options to come off the bench if Gullan does go. Smith has been pretty woeful up front but may play well on the left in an attacking 3?

4132 for me. using what is available now, and assuming we sign Rudden).
Dabrowski
Millen Watson Murray Dick
Byrne
Connolly Easton
Vaughan
Hamilton Rudden (if he signs, if not Smith)
Yup, means the captain is dropped for now but thats also assuming the scarlet pimpernel Watson is back. Watcon wont last 90 anyway so Broonie can fill in there after Watson comes off.

Get this deal done then a CH please!!

Ashcroft and Rudden are imminent but they hardly get a game at Dundee so
to free up money surely we have to let a few ladies out on loan?
You making assumptions? lol Dangerous ground now.....

Punt him. Use his exorbitant McGlynn contract wages and the fee for something a bit of a novelty...... A STRONG FIT EXPERIENCED NO NONSENSE CENTRE HALF!
Gullan has never really been a player I have rated. Scored a few goals etc yes, but he is usually either injured or playing as a striker at the corner flag.

Don't care how ugly it is, or how dirty it is, as long as we win.

As long as its no here. The Raith resthome for midfield/attack players. We are already beyond capacity.

Sensible heid is on now after the fire of the weekend has went out.
We need to get in defenders. That is, and has been the obvious priority (to us fans) since IM came here. Puzzling, as he was a defender, but doesn't seem to like signing them! It is clear as the nose on yer face that we are conceding far too many goals. THAT is the weakness that will stop us putting in a real season long title challenge. Hopefully we get a couple of no nonsense Shaun Dennis types to shore it up.
We are far too heavy in midfield. Think we need to be moving some on to accommodate, however, the problem is they are all decent, so who can we free up wages from either now or in the summer, obviously with contracts in mind?
Think it is CRUCIAL we set up a reserve side again. Then the pain of not playing every week would not be as bad for the likes of Masson and Corr. We could also get players back match fit quicker after injury. This will also let us enjoy bringing through players again and developing them into the next Colin Camerons or Jason Dairs. Guys like the young left back would get better, more confident and stronger by doing so. We would also be less reliant on loans in or out. The squad we would need for a proper title push/ stint in the Prem would suggest we would require numbers in the two teams amount to be able to really sustain.
So for me, two hard nut defenders, and a reserve team please.

"Scottish fitbaw would die without the Old Firm"
Firstly the Old Firm died in 2012 when Rangers liquidated.
Secondly, I am willing to let them go. Take their bile and nonsense with them. Yes our game would lose a lot financially on TV deals etc, but then the league would be competititve with at least 4 teams able to pose a title challenge without the bigot brothers.
Also, we would get more common sense n our game, without their overbalanced voting and selfish attitudes. We could end up with our 18 team top league and regionalising the rest. This would breed good young players for the national side too. And yes, the arse cheeks would probably try to get the cream of the crop from us, but the money would be coming from them INTO the league, boosting club revenues.
Bliss.

If we didnt have the new BOD in, I WOULD have been worried that money would be splaffed, and we would end up haveing to defrost Gordon Clown again from his crypt to front a save us campaign.
However, this new BOD seem to actually know what they are doing, and have overhauled everything at the club to great effect. I will therefore have no quals about them spending a bit more money when we are in the Prem, with the old speculate to accumulate. They will have the same skills in marketing/balancing the books/media etc, but will have a bigger pot to piss in with Prem gates and prize monies etc. They wont sell the club down the creek like previous BODs that frankly didnt have a clue.
Even if we did go up for one season, the investments would already be in place for us to challenge again, or regularly to go back up and make an effort to sustain it.
The only problem I see is the pitch, as Sim still has say over that as he makes money from community use. To change it to grass would mean protecting it again, and having to hire other facilities for training again. Skip the dug shite at the Bevvy would be on the cards for that.

I work in IT, and trust me - the amount of numpties that print out every email they receive is astounding! They are kept on the M365 server you nutters!!! More likely is the latter. Bad show if it is true.
Also, point 2, accessing a laptop that is not yours is a sackable offence in most employers. It is misappropriation of IT equipment, and goes down as a GDPR incident which the club would then be obliged to report itself, and accept a fine because of it.
Incidentally, at my employer, if someone used someone else's laptop, both the laptop 'owner' and the one accessing it would be sacked. The 'owner' for leaving it open and not locking the desktop, and the accessor for breaking GDPR law and company IT policy.
