Red though. Hate the red kits. But then I hate the yellow kits too until the Las Palmas inspired one this year........ Pondering whether to do it or not. -

Has the away to Ross County in the final dates been sorted? Need to get that in my diary and book the day off..... My record at Victoria Park is pretty good. Played 1, Won 1, Goals For 5, Goals Against 0...... Yes last time I was there we pumped them 5-0 in the first cup game of a certain wee run........ -

In the upcoming close season, we need to get the defence sorted. Thats a given. Lewis Stevenson has been joining the Rovers every pre season for the last 7 years...... Him and Hanlon I would agree though will certainly give us the experience and strength at the back we are lacking. Its the defence that have cost us the title this season. No two ways about it. After the playoffs (which unfortunately I don't think we will win - prem teams too strong and too much advantage), we need to be getting the business done with prioritisation and the defence is n.o 1. The only player I would be scrambling to re-sign would be Matthews. He is the ideal engine room player. Not fancy but does the hard work. As for the rest, I'm ho hum. Easton last played at Tannadice. Since then I have no idea what has distracted him but he looks like a squad player, not even really an impact sub. Dunno the full list of potential departures though so might be another one or two that would be handy to keep.... -
Up against the brutal Morton, we need to be careful of picking up injuries. Result doesn't matter for the league but does for momentum. Get through the game, lick the inevitable wounds and move on.

My first thought when I saw those hats. They are very '90s'. -
Can Airdrieonians Get Promoted?
Heid_The_Baw replied to The Tour Podcast's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
If Airdrie beat Partick, and then meet us in the semi, I would hope Airdrie would beat St Johnstone or Ross County in the final.... just like any of the Championship teams playing a Prem side who should be down on merit. We canny buy a win against Airdrie and it kind or irks me. (They are a good footballing side though). -
Final positions, playoffs and such...

Its OK you have made up for it against my lot....... We break a 23 year long hoodoo against ICT, and a long standing losing streak at Somerset, only to gain a new hoodoo against Airdrie! TBH Airdrie are one of the better football playing sides in the league. -
Now that 2nd has been gelled, and the title is about as likely as the local bigot walkers going for their 12th July jaunt in Celtic tops, I dunno what to make of this tie. Do we use it and the last two as glorified friendlies, rest the favourites and play the likes of Corr and McGill from the off? Or do we go for it, and solidify the hoodoo being broken? If we play like we have the last 3 games we wont be coming from here with the 3 points thats for sure. We need to up the tempo, up our game and get our heads raised again to do so. Mon Rovers!

Wish somebody had asked about a reserve side being formed. My opinion is that it is a crucial aspect for a club going forward towards the Prem. Gets injured players match fit and keeps the sqad players fit at the same time. Can also bleed through some decent young players again and maybe get the next Crawford, Cameron and Dairs coming through. I know academy was mentioned but thats not the same thing. -

Raith Rovers Vs Ayr United
Heid_The_Baw replied to diegomarahenry's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Reckon preparing for the playoffs is a good call. Then anything better is a bonus.. Hopefully though Morton or Airdrie get their game together to claim 4th over the Pars, as I can see us Raithing it against them in the playoff semi (they ARE due us one as the league games have all been close wins for us). As to the game, hopefully we play players in their right positions for a change. Matthews MUST start. -
Spot on. We give it we've got to take it back. The person responsible has been banned. Hopefully a precedent has been set and anyone else who thinks its OK to attempt to assault a player will think again. No need for anyone, fan, director, player, officials, anyone to go to a game and be assaulted.

If we finish 2nd I hope to hell the Pars don't finish in the playoffs..... Won every game against them in the league and it would be classic Rovers for them to beat us in the playoff Semi final. They are 'due us one'........all but the 3-0 cup game at East End have been close. Mon Morton and Airdrie!! -
Fair play to Utd. We have had our luck against them all season tbh. We have only ourselves to blame as usual. At points we could have been 7 clear throughout the season but blew it every time. Thats now 7 times we could have been on top with a decent advantage. Murray, as per got it wrong. Where is our strongest holding midfielder Matthews? Where was our defence with two ACTUAL centre halfs? Brown is NOT a centre half. He is not that great playing there, and he is restricted when he plays there. He is much better ahead of the defence. Hamilton should have started. We know they have a high amount of possession at home, and we would need to hit on the break. Hamilton would have held up for others to get forward. He would also have won us set pieces in doing so, and would have niggled them more at the back. When is Murray going to start leaving someone up the field when defending set pieces? We have no out ball and the opposition just come straight back at us! This one is definitely on the manager. United are definitely a stronger squad but they should be with 4 times anyone elses budget. The fact we are running them to the wire is unreal, but we must improve! Drastically.

So the rumours that he has already signed a PCA with Dundee might be a bit off then? -
I dunno if I prefer grass or astroturf. Never smoked astroturf. I think if Raith are having to rip up the excellent quality artificial pitch (zero call offs since it went in), to having a tattie field like Dundee, there should be some sort of maintenance fee commanded from the EssPeeEll or whatever they are calling themselves this month. They want to enforce it, then take it out of the pot for the league champions, scottish cup, league cup etc. Then we could maybe approach smaller part time teams, even shite like East Fife, and use their artificial surface ground for training on for maybe preferential loan players etc.

Potentially blossoming connection with a La Liga side, and the possibilities of up and coming Tony Calderons or Paquitos coming our way for loans...... The board have also stated previously it (the game) will happen. -

I am looking forward to the game(s) against Las Palmas (and possibly Tenerife). Its a rare opportunity to watch our side play top level (La Liga) European sides away from home, in the sunshine. I had the opportunity when I went to the Faroes and Germany (missed Akranes away as it came along to quick). Now its my kids/grandkids turn. Not the UEFA cup of course, but as close as we will ever likely get again! Much more glamourous than Hibs any day. I will still be there for that game of course. -

If I'm honest, I was calling big Kev a clown and worse for about 5 minutes (in my head, no out loud!) on Friday night in the pishing rain. However on balance, he has probably saved us more points than he has been responsible for. At Arbroath his calamity cost the equaliser, he was not to blame for the offside ish winner. He is far from the finished article, and needs to learn to command his box better, and sort out his positioning at crosses, but he is in the Championship and not the Champions League for a reason. At worst I would maybe drop him for one game if he has consistent clangers, but the thought of bringing in an Andy McNeill against the Pars doesn't bear thinking about! Poor Andy McNeill current goalie has no chance of getting in for this one and its not his fault he has the same name as a balloon from the past.
