  1. Jamie Gullan eyed by Dundalk for January transfer swoop as Raith Rovers striker on shortlist - Football Scotland Punt him. Use his exorbitant McGlynn contract wages and the fee for something a bit of a novelty...... A STRONG FIT EXPERIENCED NO NONSENSE CENTRE HALF! Gullan has never really been a player I have rated. Scored a few goals etc yes, but he is usually either injured or playing as a striker at the corner flag.
  2. As long as its no here. The Raith resthome for midfield/attack players. We are already beyond capacity. D e f e n d e r s we need!
  3. Sensible heid is on now after the fire of the weekend has went out. We need to get in defenders. That is, and has been the obvious priority (to us fans) since IM came here. Puzzling, as he was a defender, but doesn't seem to like signing them! It is clear as the nose on yer face that we are conceding far too many goals. THAT is the weakness that will stop us putting in a real season long title challenge. Hopefully we get a couple of no nonsense Shaun Dennis types to shore it up. We are far too heavy in midfield. Think we need to be moving some on to accommodate, however, the problem is they are all decent, so who can we free up wages from either now or in the summer, obviously with contracts in mind? Think it is CRUCIAL we set up a reserve side again. Then the pain of not playing every week would not be as bad for the likes of Masson and Corr. We could also get players back match fit quicker after injury. This will also let us enjoy bringing through players again and developing them into the next Colin Camerons or Jason Dairs. Guys like the young left back would get better, more confident and stronger by doing so. We would also be less reliant on loans in or out. The squad we would need for a proper title push/ stint in the Prem would suggest we would require numbers in the two teams amount to be able to really sustain. So for me, two hard nut defenders, and a reserve team please.
  4. "Scottish fitbaw would die without the Old Firm" Firstly the Old Firm died in 2012 when Rangers liquidated. Secondly, I am willing to let them go. Take their bile and nonsense with them. Yes our game would lose a lot financially on TV deals etc, but then the league would be competititve with at least 4 teams able to pose a title challenge without the bigot brothers. Also, we would get more common sense n our game, without their overbalanced voting and selfish attitudes. We could end up with our 18 team top league and regionalising the rest. This would breed good young players for the national side too. And yes, the arse cheeks would probably try to get the cream of the crop from us, but the money would be coming from them INTO the league, boosting club revenues. Bliss.
  5. I am in the 'we're due to give somebody a skelping' boat. Tomorrow is as good a day as any.
  6. If we didnt have the new BOD in, I WOULD have been worried that money would be splaffed, and we would end up haveing to defrost Gordon Clown again from his crypt to front a save us campaign. However, this new BOD seem to actually know what they are doing, and have overhauled everything at the club to great effect. I will therefore have no quals about them spending a bit more money when we are in the Prem, with the old speculate to accumulate. They will have the same skills in marketing/balancing the books/media etc, but will have a bigger pot to piss in with Prem gates and prize monies etc. They wont sell the club down the creek like previous BODs that frankly didnt have a clue. Even if we did go up for one season, the investments would already be in place for us to challenge again, or regularly to go back up and make an effort to sustain it. The only problem I see is the pitch, as Sim still has say over that as he makes money from community use. To change it to grass would mean protecting it again, and having to hire other facilities for training again. Skip the dug shite at the Bevvy would be on the cards for that.
  7. If you don't score goals, you don't win football matches. You don't fucking say....
  8. Never mind new faces coming in! So now we know O'Reilly is away, the reality is the following players could sign a PCA with another club, as all out of contract at seasons end. Thomson, McNeil Corr, Masson, Dick, Millen,Watson Matthews, Byrne (loan), McGill, Easton, Ross Vaughan, Gullan So as well as getting in some fresh faces, we face the prospect of losing some of the above if we don't get the chequebook out to secure them. Priorities? I would say one or both goalies, Millen (aggressive RB and good crosser - currently only RB we have!), Byrne and Vaughan. Easton I think is already away. McGill is a very useful player but is a wage to sit on the bench. Ross will be away to Falkirk permanently I think. I like Matthews but he has been out for a long time, and will take time to work back into the team. I hope he is the player he was and then we can add him as a priority too. Dick is better I think in the middle than he is at LB. But Premier league possibly? The rest have not played enough for me to be other than meh if they go.
  9. Not getting to this one unfortunately. Will be tough. Airdrie play some nice football. We have been a bit stuttery of late against apparent lower ranked opposition, so hard to judge where this one will end. 6-5 to the Rovers after being 5-4 down with 3 minutes to go. 98th minute winner.
  10. Football rivalries are one thing. What happened on Saturday to the lad is beyond disgusting. Yes, they were in the ground following the Pars, but cannot tar their whole support with the same brush. Vast majority are just football fans, and don't forget, chose to follow their local team and not the bigot brothers in Glasgow. Glad to see that Dunfermline have come out to condemn the incident, and will ban the neds. Also that a section of their fans have offered to pay for damage to the lads hearing aids. Proves that they are just like me and you, fans who want to watch their club through thick and thin, and have the rivalries and pantomime villians with the usual banter between. Good to see every Pars fan on here also condemning this tarnish on their reputation. The Rovers also have our own gang of ned fannies that think they can do what they like. In fact it was those ned fannies that caused the battles doon the Links at the last game by taunting the Pars ones. Wish the rovers would do something about them too. An embarrassment to our club. Hope the lad is OK, and doesn't get put off football by what's happened. This is the second time I have seen Rovers and Pars fans united about something on P&B (rightly so). The other thing being the disregard and possible hatred of that mob from over the Kincardine Bridge.....
  11. That has to be the most sensible post you have ever made on here.... Fully agree. He was without a club first half of the season, so the thought of loads of chaps at his door now seems a bit unrealistic. He has been in a window with us, but that's quite a limited window in the grand scale of things. Would like him to sign, but in reality he is not going to be guaranteed as a starter.
  12. I feel the Rovers are unlucky that it is Dundee Utd in the Champ this season. If it was any of the previous 3 seasons, we would be walking away with the title in our sights. We will probably end up the record for highest 2nd place points, as DU will splash the cash to strengthen this month on higher quality and waged signings. I have been taken away on a cloud myself for a while as we have been doing so well, that we might just do this, BUT after the last 3 games I have lowered my expectations to us being 2nd and into the playoff semi. Whether it will be enough for us to go up time will tell. We are way ahead of our 5 year schedule for promotion, and whether its a good thing or not remains to be seen. Our pitch is going to be a problem, as we will get 1 or 2 years leeway with it in the greedleague. To put in a new grass pitch is going to be around £300,000 which means less for players. Also means lost revenue from the pitch hire. Mr Sim won't like that. Conflict on the horizon. Pity too, as our pitch is the best artificial surface in Scotland due to us accidentally buying a rugby class pitch which is softer and more natural feeling! We need to sort out our defence too. To be scoring several goals in a game to be constantly pulled back level and either drawing or having to score when my tea is ready is not a good thing! My heart canny take it, and we will not do it every time inevitably meaning losing ground. Overall though, I am very happy with the way my club is being run and our position we are in right now. I thought we would end up 3rd or 4th. As to the rest of the league, the Pars are doing better than I expected as they just came up. Airdrie were too, but have fallen away a bit. Airdrie are the best footballing side I have seen in the Champ this season though. Ayr surprise me as they are struggling. QP, not surprised they are struggling, as it seems to happen to previous nearly men. Partick will finish in the playoffs, as will Dunfermline I think after they recover from injury and get a few better quality players in this month. Otherwise, Champ is the 'usual' for me.
  13. I was right behind the rhs goalpost but about 9 rows back. Guy behind me was going nuts at me as I was standing, as everyone in front of me was..... Said to him in no uncertain terms I didny pay £25 to look at the back of the guy in fronts jaiket, and I would only sit down when I could see.... Wasny chuffed but hey ho. Agree anyone wanting to stand should be up the back where they wont block anybodys view. However the 'young team' like to be front so they can invade the park like the potential fine inducing bams they are..... To their credit though, only one of them did it on Saturday.
  14. The guy is probably our most consistent, most skillfull player. His calm reading of the game, his through balls etc are all 'better than the Rovers'. We are privileged to have him sign again. I honestly thought he would be on a PCA to a prem side in the next few weeks. Instead he is on a new 2 year deal with a Prem side in waiting!
  15. Absolutely over the moon with this news! Great bit of business from the Rovers. He could have easily went to a Premiership side and fitted right in. Now for Dylan Easton, Ian Murray, Lewis Vaughan, Shaun Byrne, Dan O'Reilly, and Ross Millen hopefully!
  16. Yea. Benito Ramirez quite fancies a winter stint in Kirkcaldy.
  17. Will take a 94th minute winner in this one. Will be good to get a winner in earlier than normal (Saturday being the exception to the rule).
  18. He called me a w****r at Elgin a few years back in the cup. To be fair calling me a w****r was tame for questioning everything from his love for fascism, his bullying of lassies at school, whether he loved the boaby (were a lot less snwokeflakes around then), his mother's love of the boaby, to his love of everything London ruled and if he only gets on the knee for his beloved Queen (at the time). He is anti Scottish. I am anti Tory. Canny see us ever sharing a normal conversation.
  19. Great stuff by the directors giving us free bus travel to Tanner Dice. Saves a wee bit on fuel and more so on the legs as you cannot park within a mile of the two heaps. My Fanbase has NEVER associated with my season tickets, but a quick text to RRFC and they sorted it within 15 seconds! Got my email confirming seats that quick after texting! Great service as well as great gesture. Gonny be a big one next week! If we go top tonight, pressure goes on Utd tomorrow. Then we can go back top in midweek. Beat them at Tannadice and we stay top too and extend the lead....with them having to play catchup with game in hand.
  20. We go by many names. My personal favourite is what Dunfermline call us. The 'wee team'. Reminds me that we are indeed a wee team and to enjoy success while it lasts. Also reminds me that they have a superiority complex which is laughable as they cannot get near us on the football pitch. Quality over quantity.
