  1. Does anyone know the deal with the BBC over TV revenue? Is it additional to the prize money or has it all be rolled into one? I think what the BBC has done this season has been great for the league, so even if the revenue is minimal it will have been worth it.
  2. It is all 'if's' 'and's' and 'but's'. But if we had scored first, if the one that hit the woodwork went in, if we had got a dubious penalty... we would have been likely to take something from the Airdrie game. We didn't and we came away with nothing. My concern from last night is how poor we were in the first half and how easily Airdrie could find space - and that was with us putting out what should have been a formation that shouldn't have allowed that. That's my concern. The second half was really good stuff - some of the best play I have seen this season, but Airdrie could sit back and just soak it up. Sometimes, trying to play good football is not the right option, and last night was one of those days. We should have just been doing everything to get shots on goal. With Lee Ashcroft, the term used was "he has returned to his parent club for treatment" which I read as his loan has ended. I wouldn't really want to put a player just out of rehab into the team either. We have known all season our defence has been as solid as yoghurt. We have been fortunate for most of the season we have been fairly prolific in front of goal. That has gone of late. Dylan Easton seems to be 'off the boil' as is Jack Hamilton. I like Zack Rudden, but who knows what he is trying to do half the time. It could be a good time to experiment a bit up-front I think we would all love to see Zack and Jack play together. For me, we need to start looking now to next season defensively. We need a new back line. A proper back line. There are lots of free agents at the end of the season and if it is a case of money, I would rather take a good defender or two than resigning Dylan. I'd love to keep him, but I feel a defender would be a more important addition. I was exceptionally disappointed by last nights first have display, and I feel I have every right to be. The season has still been excellent as a whole though.
  3. That first half was totally unacceptable. The annoying thing was that, on paper, that was the type of squad we should have been putting out. Second half was much more like how we should be playing. I'm not taking anything away from Airdrie - well worth their win. I have lot's of questions about the team in the first half. Hamilton and Easton seemed really ineffective. I felt that Turner played really well when he came on. Scott Brown is a different class when he actually plays in position (who would have thought). But the defence... I have to ask what is the point of having a natural defender who sits on the bench week after week? Why did we sign Dylan Corr if we would rather bench him & not use him and instead keep playing others out of position instead? Our defence has been an issue since day one. We have been lucky to have such a strong attacking line up, but they seem to be off the boil at the moment. So frustrating.
  4. When was the last time we had the same starting 11 two games running?
  5. And to add to it, entertainment wise it has been a very good season in the second tier of Scottish Football. I mean, it hasn't been great for my heart at times, but some of the games have been brilliant entertainment. Yes, the quality could be better, but quality doesn't always equal entertainment. And I do understand, our clubs position in the league probably does influence my view. Anyone in Kirkcaldy - how's the weather? It is storm-force winds down here in Northern England.
  6. Could this be the game Dylan Corr gets a start? I mean, 3 games in the week - you would think our b*stardised defence deserves something akin to fresh legs.
  7. The only change I would fully expect is Lewis to start in place of Dylan. Having not played yesterday makes that a sensible exchange. I would have said Rudden would start ahead of Hamilton too but I feel that Jack's performance deserves a second start.
  8. I think James Brown has been more than dependable this season. He certainly hasn't set the world alight, but has done exactly what we need him to do. The question though is - will he develop? I'm not overly convinced he would. I think that no matter what happens at the end of this season our defence needs work.. there will be a few players out of contract that could be within our reach - Lewis Stevenson and Jason Kerr being examples.
  9. I was a bit surprised when he was appointed, but he seems to be the right person for the job... at the moment at least. Your club is making some positive steps at the moment and it is good to see. The new stand is a really interesting design and I look forward to seeing what it looks like when done. I always found it funny that Bill Barr was effectively building modern stadiums for a host of clubs whilst your chairman, but never touched Somerset Park. I've always had a soft spot for Ayr and always enjoyed visiting Somerset.
  10. The win-loss-win-loss trend for Ayr is astounding. Is it 9 games now?
  11. Morton 1 Dundee United 0 Airdrie 2 Dunfermline 1 Ayr 3 Arbroath 0 Queen's Park 0 ICT 0 Raith 2 Partick 1
  12. Airdrie 1-2 Morton Dunfermline 1-1 Partick Inverness 0-0 Arbroath Queens Park 0-0 Dundee Utd Raith 4-0 Ayr
  13. IM got that team wrong. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, and in all honesty I probably would have went for something similar before the game. At 1-0 I was expecting a better second half, but alas it didn't really happen. I said before today that I expect points to be dropped on both sides on the run-in. Season isn't over, so we need to re-group, remember all the positives from the season and move on.
  14. I think it is more likely he is holding off until the end of the season to see what league we are in and what we are going to pay him. I have little doubt he has other offers on the board too.
