    Says who ?

As long as it's a constructive moan it's OK in my book.

All the happy clappy fans .Bohessian (who even commented on my post in another teams thread)and Bonnyrigg Rose fan Dolly.

I have expressed my honest opinions on here but it is always seen as moanng, which I believe is unfair.

Everyone will therefore be delighted to know that this is my last comment on Pie and bovril forums.

I will continue of course to go along and support the team .

    78 years and counting.

Time to look forward to a new season......

News, gossip, predictions and moans are all welcome here.

With a new manager about to arrive followed by several new players it will be interesting times for the BU faithful.

    Mon the BU's !!!

Moans are not acceptable on this thread apparently.

If you’ve no hidden agenda, which is open to question, then the only other answer for the rubbish that you post is that your head’s up your backside.

Spartans, EK, Tranent, Berwick, Open Goal, are all paying silly money for what’s effectively the fifth division and that’s why guys likes Jamie McCormack are signing for clubs like Berwick. Max plowed his own money into the club to bring players in that we might not have afforded. But according to you, he was a clown.

You have constantly told us over and over again that managers have not been good enough, I think you said they should have contacts all over Scotland, now you’re suggesting that 11 arseholes, your words, would be better than the players we’ve got.

We win 5 games on the trot and you still spout crap, give us all a break and sod off and let the rest of us support our team without having to listen to your crap.

You really need to calm down.Your vitriol is only embarrassing yourself.

What makes you think that arseholes are bad footballers ?

Also if you are correct that the last manager (I never once lowered myself to calling him a clown)was allowed to put his own money into buying players then there are serious questions to be asked of the people running the club.

Jambo, these “fans” have never once said anything positive about the club,  players or manager. Everyone knows we are working on a very tight budget and will cut our cloth accordingly so the negative attitude would suggest an alternative motive.

    What are you suggesting?

I support the team but I do not believe that just because a player wears a blue jersey doesn’t mean he is any good,or beyond criticism.

I have no hidden agenda or anything of the sort ,so please refrain from even suggesting such nonsense.

It should not take money to win the Lowland league although I appreciate it helps.Better recruitment and coaching is surely possible even on a tight budget.

As I have previously said Bo’ness United have never been awash with money.Success has previously been achieved with good players. The reality is there are not enough in the current squad and resigning most of what is there is simply asking for more under achievement next season.

This happy clappy way of watching a team is simply sticking your head in the sand thinking that average players are going to improve. They won’t Just because they may be great guys to talk to etc.is not what it’s about.Give me 11 arseholes who produce better football  performances than have been witnessed the past two seasons any day of the week .
This is where a good man manager becomes invaluable.

  5. Never said they were overrun in games .They keep finding ways to lose when it really counts.

I do not think this or last season deserves praise as there has been no improvement at all.

If that is seen as moaning then so be it .

I will continue to express my opinions (moans)until this club that I love play better and winning football.

Seriously?  We have now clinched 9th place in the league which, for some, seems to be a poor season.  Just how many of of the teams who have finished above us do you realistically see us being ahead of?

CSS perhaps but we have to be fair on the lads.  They have done well this season and I wouldn't rule out another League Cup Final.

I feared this type of thinking would come to the fore if a change of manager managed to get some favourable results .

All this wee run has done is paper over the gaping cracks that will still be there if this squad is not vastly improved.

It is not advisable to get carried away with wins when it matters little.Players these days down tools early, signing pre contracts for next season at other clubs etc.

We must improve next season when it really matters by being far more consistent mid season especially when all teams are at full throttle.

The standard of the Lowland league this season has dropped off and that includes the hated B teams who have shown little quality so ninth place is poor Jambo in my opinion.

Fitbaw is a results based business........and the BU's are doing the business just now.

Too little too late though Dave.

When it matters mid season the results fall off a cliff.

Next season it has to be so much better.

BU Twitter announced contract extensions for Gemmell, Stevenson, Grant and Hawkins.

I assume these will all be 1 year extensions.

I had previously heard that there were very few players contracted for the 23/24 season.....think it was only 3 players.   Kyle Johnstone and Lewis McArthur were 2 of the 3.

Hopefully more good news over the coming weeks.

    More good news?

Giving new contracts to more under achieving players?Cannot wait.

Ian Little: New Bo'ness United boss says he is already planning for next season

New Bo’ness United manager Ian Little says he is already planning for next season after taking on the job after an interim spell in charge of the Scottish Lowland Football League outfit.

The ex-Berwick Rangers boss, who was previously assistant manager to Max Christie, was appointed last Friday by the club’s committee.

He told the Falkirk Herald: “I was delighted that I was entrusted by the board to take the job on. Max was also on at me a little to try and go for it and I was really interested.

"It has been an odd season for us and we haven’t been doing things in games at the right moments, but it is very fixable. I have enjoyed taking the team over the past few weeks and we have played pretty well. We should have been beaten Tranent, which would have been a big one for us.

"I have already been in touch with players and sorted some things out. I think it was crucial for the club to get someone in at this point and not to wait any longer as guys are already signing up for other teams, or at least agreeing deals.”

BU won 7-1 at the weekend away from home against bottom club Dalbeattie Star, and Little hailed the performance of midfielder Tom Grant.

The Newtown Park side now have three matches left of their campaign, and will finish in mid-table, with the team currently in ninth spot on 48 points from 33 games.

"We got a magical display from Tommy,” Little said. “He was a level above everyone else on the park. There were things I liked from the performance and things I didn’t, but the weather was so bad that was a bit of a lottery.

"It is just about getting the season over the line now. It feels very odd actually and it doesn’t feel like their is only three games to go. All we can do now is to try and win the last few games to finish the season on some sort of high.”

Little also confirmed that Dylan Coll and Jack Smith have left the club. BU face Open Goal Broomhill this weekend at home.

Two goal scorers are a must for next season.

It is anything but a "lazy appointment".  Ian is a quality appointment.  Anybody who watched the team on Saturday could detect the difference with his tactics.

He knows the players there now and will have his own plans on who to keep and who to let go.  Like Max, he has plenty of contacts in the senior game after a long career in the lower divisions.

He has also demonstrated his interest in encouraging the young lads, helping with their training.

Of course, we will have doubters.  Those who think we were the team after Stevie Gerrard whilst forgetting the major hurdle we face.....a lack of money!

Bo’ness United have never had much money. The only good times we have enjoyed i the last forty years of our history have been when we have had decent coaches. Firstly Lenny Reid then Brian Fairley,Davie Baikie and Allan Macgonigal. So sourcing the correct man for the job is critical not just an easy and convenient appointment which this is.

What is the rush anyway? We have nothing to play for this season and three months before a new campaign start's.

    Good luck Mr Little anyway.

  11. Sounds like you have more inside knowledge of Ian Little than me Jambo. You would have to say though that he was part of a management team this season and most of last term was not producing much of note.

I just hope that other options were looked at .
