Phillips is gonna miss out on the new owner excitement next season though
He'll miss the new owners Americanisms and their high ambitions of winning the Soccer world series championship Cup.

Levein quote of the day:
"you find the attacking players are generally better at creating than the defensive ones."

Not having Phillips contribute much in terms of goals and assists would be fine if he was the midfield disrupter and others were getting the goals and assist, but we have all our current midfielders not contributing enough to goals.
Phillips, Max and Smith, (could even throw in Crawford and MacPherson) are all decent technical footballers, but offer way way to little in terms or real offensive contributions.
Possibly unfair on Philips as he breaks things up and Smith does try to get the ball forward, but generally, the are not contributing enough.
I'll be proved wrong with stats I'm sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if our midfield have net backwards and sideways passes vs forward and if it is positive to the forward, it won't be by much.....
Funny thing is Crawford has probably scored more than the rest of the names have combined for Saints
I know one stat (if it ends up being correct) in isolation means very little though.

At times he's been about the only one that's been remotely entertaining.
Although does have a habit of doing really well, beating a man or two and then kicking a 10 yard pass 10 yards wide of his intended target.
No shock to anyone that he wasn't planning on staying though.

Killie above Hearts? Really?
I thought that too but that's based on their December prediction whereas the first one he posted was the March prediction

Maxwell: "I know what'll get fans on side about VAR. I'll be rude and patronising, that'll DEFINITELY help things."
p***k.
The fact they see the fans are to blame and not the officials just proves that things simply will not change. They believe they're doing a great job.

Sadly I am in the "will do none of the above" category.
While I think VAR in its current iteration is awful and makes the experience for fans dreadful, I dont believe the authorities have any inclination to do anything about it, nor will they take much account of what fans say.
Same. I'll just be going a lot less as I don't enjoy it the same.
The evidence that backs up exactly what you've said as well is they don't generally give a shit about anything else that detracts from the fans experience so why would VAR be any different. Especially when it's something the authorities actively want.

The going every week pattern has been broken for me. I do still look forward to going to Edinburgh for the day out for the Hibs game for example though but... Forget going to Motherwell midweek for example while this team offer me nothing in terms of excitement.
It'll be make or break for many fans in the summer whether we stay up or not. A massive upheaval of the playing squad isn't ideal but if there isn't one, the fans who feel negative about it the squad are going to be very angry if a few of the failure players are offered new deals they don't deserve.
I don't feel the same resentment towards the current management that some others do. While I'm not exactly happy about it my patience is probably because I don't see them solely to blame for the current squad or state of things. Although I do feel much more negative than I did around the clusters of midweek games pre winter break as I felt over a period of time while things weren't perfect and it didn't always work I felt i could see in patches of games what seemed like a plan in possession. Since then though they've binned that direction and just gone into just being extremely negative and trying to play on the counter against everyone very much mirroring Davidson's way of things and the direction that went. Most of the January signings have offered nothing.
As for off the field it's just in a permanent holding pattern until a new owner takes control. I did think the plan to get new ownership would result in the club seeming frozen and not willing to make decisions with off the field matters. Not too sure that's been the case but others will know more than I do.
Once a new owner comes in my guess is we'll get the new owner excitement which will fade away when it's evident they don't have a fucking clue.

This team means absolutely nothing to me. Genuinely wouldn't be upset if every single one of them left in May. Mitov maybe the exception.
I'm going to the next game as my wee ones are the match day mascots and after that will I spend money and time going down the A9 to watch us misplace every pass? Probably not.
Pretty much how I look at away games. Can I be arsed traveling to the likes of Aberdeen or Paisley... Absolutely not.
Would go to every game but I've only attended 1 away game in 2024. VAR ruining it is also part of it also. Have I missed it, no not really.
Will try to get behind them when it comes to the crunch though

Will we see an improvement in the pitch for the Dundee game?
By then it'll have been 4 weeks since it was used?
Have my doubts...

That passage of of play sums it up. McGowan under no pressure inside Celtic half 3 seconds later the ball is with Mitov and back to Celtic it goes.
I know it's not easy but that's the repeat every time of the little possession we do half..

Need to be better with the ball, Phillips seems determined to give it away unusually often. Robinson should do better at the goal I think but it's one of those that come from defending so deep. Good ball and run though. A lot of our problems have been self inflicted though.
Yup. We're so passive in possession and it just results in immediately two passes backwards that puts us under pressure and needing to get rid and that gives possession back to Celtic.
Easier said than done I know but just need to be braver.

If Saints want to make anything of the direct counter attack up to Sidibeh then they need to target Welsh more.
We've seen quite a few attempts at quick balls out to Sidibeh over a number of games, has he got on the end of any of them?
Saints could play all day here and not score.

5-2-2-1 type shape again. Can see why they've gone back to that today.
hopefully it's Carey further forward though as I can absolutely see a goal being lost with him trying a nutmeg at the edge of our own box.

I see Sam McClelland hasn't played whatsoever since joining United as well.

Kerr Smith returning to Villa.
Injury related based on the comments so must have been a season ending injury for him.

MacPherson has only managed 55 appearances in all competitions in nearly 3 seasons.
Injuries happen but it's constant for him. Hard to not feel sorry for him in that regard. He must be beyond fed up.

I know hiring these venues as has already been explained is very expensive and I know profit needs made but doesn't £100 a head price out the average Saints fan? Especially those with younger kids who'd struggle to justify spending that kind of money when you factor in £5+ drinks and everything else on top.
Don't get me wrong I imagine it'll be a great night, just think it's likely to result in it being mostly attended by the more affluent section of our support plus the hardcore who don't miss anything.
Personally 3 years ago I wouldn't have missed it... But now... I'll pass.

I am begging Scotland to produce another Grand Slam winning tennis player to give Kheredine something else to do for the next fifteen years.
There's an Olympics coming up soon so he'll be distracted with that shortly.

What does Andy Kirk actually do?
What all other assistant managers and coaches do.
He organises basically all the training, which has been reiterated a number of times by Levein.

Be surprised if Drey Wright stays. Have heard him and Levein don’t get on.
How sure are you that's actually true? They've probably barely spoken, based on Drey's comments when he was on Saints TV against St. mirren
He mentioned how he'd not been at the training ground much at all. I believe he'd said it in a conversation when asked about the January signings in training. Think he said he'd never seen them train as well!

Have we not got growing lamps too. If nothing else, the goalmouth should be getting them used on them.
28 minutes ago, RandomGuy. said:Im sure i read someone saying they tipped over and broke before they ever got used at some point.
I used to see them on the pitch when I was playing football up there midweek a few years ago.
Don't know how they got broken but they're lying smashed up around the North End stand side of the training pitch or at least were until recently.

Chasing VAR out of Scotland
in Scottish Premiership General Chatter

For some reason whenever i've seen Raith fans having a great time, last min winners etc.
The first thing I think is... Just wait until they promoted. VAR is going to ruin it!
