  1. Pretty much Same defence last season had 2nd or 3rd best record. This discussion is largely for the birds tbh. But Im not sat here saying that all of them should stay no matter what. If we can find better players then great. But we’ve got less dig across the park than we had last year. Murdoch being out and Akinyemi effectively taking three players out a game has been huge. The entire midfield and full back areas are just a flume directing pressure onto whoever was back 2. And Albinson was a total mediocrity for his time in nets this season. That all contributes to the shite GD. Id rather we brought in better players in the middle of the park and in full back areas to relieve the pressure a bit. I’ve watched so many games this year where we’ve looked weak as water in the middle of the park and we end up inviting so much pressure. It’s inevitable that we’ll concede
  2. Tonight’s game aside, I’d be content enough with any of the centre backs staying. From what I’m reading here it seemed a comedy of errors. That happens. But over the piece of a season They’ll be fine if we get more quality in full back positions and bring in some dig in the middle.
  3. Thank Christ this season is over. I’m looking forward to this summer. Brown will have clear ideas of what constitutes quality at the this level, which will no doubt be entirely contrary to the pish we’ve been signing recently. Can see him overriding a few Glendinning inspired nuggets from the Isthmanian league in favour of somebody ready and able to make an impact. Brown has managed to make this team look competitive- if not inspiring - since he arrived. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full preseason and transfer window.
  4. Christ I forgot about those! Wonder if Jamie Murphy ever did buy those galvanised nails
  5. I thought the queuing system the other week worked ok. It definitely avoided having that snakelike line that runs the length of the back wall. Not sure the experience will be made any better with staff running about with trays of drinks in an already crowded room, but we’ll see…I’d rather they just served you quicker. Not inclined to dunk on staff, but they do move at a snails pace sometimes.
  6. Billy Drummond scoring lots for lanark juniors could do a job for use just saying
  7. hoping he intends only to bring Clarke in as backup. Anyhow, glad to know that we're taking steps now to build the squad.
  8. He was howling that game. And I agree, he’s a rotten left back. But then again, he’s not a left back… Stopping crosses would be the job of a full back. Don’t see what’s objectionable about having Stanger, Mcginty(or sanders) and Musonda as our three CBs. Those three plus two good full backs and we’d be absolutely fine at the back.
  9. The central defenders aren’t the issue. We lack semi competent full backs. Stanger and Sanders have looked good under Brown. Besides the odd brain fart, Mcginty is a solid enough player. And Musonda is a really good player at this level. We’re really weak in wide areas and that’s where most of the attacks are directed against us. Doesn’t help that our two wingers - who are both excellent going forward btw - don’t provide any protection for the full backs either. That’s been the case for the last two seasons.
  10. Musonda is an excellent player at this level. He’s at the top of my list of players to keep. Him, Stanger, Mcginty and, if we sign him permanently, Sanders give us very solid options. He’s got plenty of cover so I’m never bricking it when he’s out injured or away on international duty. It’s the lack of cover at full back that’s the issue at the back.
  11. Brown’s got the ability to get a tune out of very limited players. Let’s hope he’s got an eye for a signing too in the coming transfer window. Looking forward to seeing what we can achieve with more quality in the squad.
  12. Ideally. Mind, we’re competing with a few other teams with the same idea.
  13. We need 4-5 quality players and a mix of utility/squad players - mcalllister and reading are ideal players in the latter category. Hopefully Brown has his eye on a few quality signings and we can do more than survive next season.
  14. Gives us effectively a week extra of pre-season to identify players. Hopefully we move quick for quality.
  15. Arse going like a rabbits nose. Got an iffy phone signal so results coming in piecemeal. How are we doing?
  16. We’ve been offering up boggin fare for as long as I’ve been going. And we all still rock up.
  17. There’s no way to answer this without looking like a sad sack who writes 20 paragraphs on a Friday night. But I’d imagine that having half way decent facilities and infrastructure in place is the first step to putting yourself on a decent sustainable financial footing.
  18. The football on the pitch does need to improve, but so does the infrastructure. It’s not like we’ve been great without the distraction of having a new stand being built. I’m willing to put up with at least one more season of dreariness if the investments off the park result in improvements off it over time.
  19. It was irritating seeing the penalty stuff. Was like watching two weans demand yards.
