  1. “When did Ibrox become all-seater? 1981 After the Ibrox disaster of 1971, the stadium was largely rebuilt. The vast bowl-shaped terracing was removed and replaced by three rectangular, all-seated stands by 1981.” It was heralded at the time as all seater when it clearly wasn’t. It was a lie perpetuated for many many years. What actually was the first all-seater stadium in Scotland given we can’t class bench seating at Kilbowie and Pittodrie as seats!
  2. I know what you meant but it’s still funny given the subject matter. Kilbowie was sold off in 1997. McDiarmid opened in 1989. Pittodrie was all-seater in 1978 if you class those bench seats that were used at Kilbowie and Pittodrie as seats. I never once sat on them apart from half time. Be interesting to hear exactly when the main stand enclosure at Ibrox was finally made all seated. Rangers used to peddle a lie that their ground was all seated when it clearly wasn’t. Not the first time they have lied. No doubt there was a reason for lying to get financial grants given.
  3. I’m sure I remember something else before the TSB days. Really iconic advertising. Miss it every time now. Sadly I can’t seem to find any images of these corner advertisements online. The old section of covered terracing that both sets of fans used across from the main stand at Tannadice was arguably the steepest I have ever experienced. What a team Jim McLean’s United were back in the day. It’s an absolute travesty they were robbed of the ‘84 European final against Liverpool through bribery and corruption. Some of the greatest ever games my team had back in the 70s and 80s were against United. The ‘87 cup final was the worst game ever. But I enjoyed the result. VAR would have held that game up for how long now with that offside United “goal” in extra time? f**k VAR f**k the SFA, UEFA, FIFA and corrupt referees. Jim McLean punched the wrong guys!
  4. It’s strange how opinions can differ. Just a few differing points from my perspective. Kilmarnock must have the worst leg room in the league with regards seating. United’s ground is a hot potch of stands. It is really strange as an away supporter to be using the old “home” end facilities. It used to be a great ground. Best in the league no doubt Tynecastle closely followed by Easter Road. Finally Parkhead and Ibrox should just be carpet bombed and left deserted as a reminder that religious bigotry has no place in our country.
  5. Your wife should leave you more often. How is the food in the care home?
  6. Embarrassing and disgraceful spelling and grammar. When do the “skools” go back wee man?
  7. “Some believe after the deceased has failed to answer to his name being called three times, and before his ring and seals are defaced, he is tapped on the forehead with a small silver hammer.” What if he’s just hard of hearing? Then he gets his ring defaced? They would have to club me to death with a baseball bat rather than a wee hammer if my ring was defaced!
  8. The gender thread will take a fence or two over that comment! HNY. First time sober in over 40+ years! Might become a taxi driver next year Now that’s a great film!
  9. Part (surely!) always amuses me that it was never finished. I’m surprised the offending house never had a mysterious fire Arguably the most uncomfortable main stand seats I’ve ever sat on.
  10. One bin each for all the inbred old firm scum that every town and city has unfortunately
  11. There has been a lot of effort made by St Mirren fans to the “NorthBank” in the West Stand over the last few weeks. These images don’t show the impact it has had. Outstanding effort by all concerned. Some of the old photos were rescued from the hospitality suite when they were supposedly heading to the local dump. The hall of fame images have been in place for years, but now the fans have added their stamp on the ground and there are further improvements planned. Well done everyone involved!
  12. Hardly surprising when all your “money” went onto the park resulting in your club’s liquidation.
  13. Just remember that Heysel was passed as a “premier stadium” by UEFA for a European Cup final. I remember going to that renamed stadium there for a critical Scotland qualifier and the crushing going towards the turnstiles showed that no lessons had been learned with regards safety.
  14. Zzzzzatoshi to soil his pants tonight one way or another!
  15. When that happens surely we will see a resurgence in decent chocolate stores and proper Italian ice cream parlours. Introducing a new “green café” culture would help eliminate these American franchisees that really piss me off. I can’t believe how much these b*****ds charge for a coffee. Surely we can look to other countries to see the benefits in offering such a service to the community.
  16. Are you Billy’s dad? Everyone on P&B would love to see him be a success. The reality is that he has not been a success consistently in the EPL. He was not even a first choice at Norwich. Their supporters who saw him on a regular basis were highly critical of him as a player. I’ve witnessed players in the EPL who stood out in struggling teams like Bolton and Norwich in the past that just can’t move onto bigger and better things. Billy could not even stand out in that Norwich team. If Norwich had rated him they would have been first in the queue to buy him permanently. A £9M transfer fee between two EPL clubs is chicken feed. It’s a gamble by Brighton. He is at an age where he should be starting regularly and performing consistently well. I sincerely hope he does but so far I’m far from convinced he has what it takes to make it at the top level.

    Pele

Much as you believe your own “importance” I think it’s a stretch to believe Pele would have known who you are.
  18. And therein lies one of the biggest reasons why he is not starting more games. Like everyone else I would like to see more of Billy Gilmour but it’s clear that he is not trusted by top managers in the EPL despite being similar height to Kante. He was clearly not a success at Norwich. He is not currently being trusted at Brighton. It’s a worry unless he can somehow turn it around and get the team playing to his strengths. I do hope that he can make a success of his career but I fear that he won’t.

    Pele

Correct. These defenders only have to touch these modern day forwards and they drop to the ground.

    Pele

Ffs. You had a chance to meet a legend of the game. Just imagine the stats you could have bored him with.
  21. Andy Goram was not the tallest but was arguably a better keeper than Jim Leighton and even taller goalies like Billy Thomson. I still reckon Scotland would have qualified out of two World Cup groups had Goram been given the nod over Leighton. Most especially 1990 after Leighton had been dropped by Fergie for the FA cup replay. His confidence was absolutely shot.
