Agreed, was very much needed. Whilst Macca took abuse for Wotherspoon leaving… I’ve no doubt if he was given an option to let go of Crawford or MacPherson instead he would’ve.

So looks like we’ll be expecting the following players to leave by end of the window: Brown Ballantyne May Turner Cooke Possible suggestion of Kane as well. In turn expecting possibly a striker and winger incoming? Or someone who can do both.

I’d argue we look more organised and have a better idea of what we’re doing now than we have had for around 2 years.

To be fair to them, they had both Dare and Smith warming up after Gordon went down the first time. Was obviously a discussion on a change of shape as supposed to just rushing and chucking another centre half on. Would rather they did that than just react and panic and chuck Dare on into a back 3.

Perhaps centre midfielders of Sprangler, Smith, Max, Ferguson, Franczak with both Carey and C.Smith can play there then imagine we wouldn’t be that fussed about adding another.

Brown, Gallacher, Considine (perhaps added to staff?), MacPherson, Crawford, and Ballantyne… happy days 5 of them Davidson’s signings. 1 success I’d say in Considine.

Matt Smith reminds me of Chris Millar slightly, ability to keep hold of the ball in tight spaces and link play but feel Smith probably tries more progressive/ambitious passes than Millar did. Different teams and playing different roles but definitely similarities for me.

Any actual update on Clark/Kane? Don’t think either have been mentioned anywhere.

Guessing they’ve given up trying to shift Crawford. Going public looks like an attempt to spark interest in the three of them, whilst leaving them out of squads and forcing to train on their own seems an attempt to force them out. Fair play. No mention of May so guessing he’s possibly one who Levein isn’t too fussed either way.

Not sure where you’ve taken that from but it’s certainly not my point. The philosophy needs to be winning matches and picking up points. I couldn’t give a hoot how it’s done. Motherwell would be an example of a side that create lots of chances and score goals, means nothing if you can’t win games. If the best way to win a certain game is stick 3 up front and press like f*ck and pass pass pass then go for it, if the best way to win the next game is to stick 7 defenders on the park and a fast striker on to score with our only shot of the game then do it.

This whole excitement nonsense needs put in the bin. Saints will never be an overly exciting team in the premiership, very few teams are. I just want a team on the park that fights like f**k and wins as many games as possible. That’s what St Johnstone should do. Whether that’s 60% possession or 25% it’s the end result that matters. I enjoy watching Saints win. Whether they shitfest their way to that win or tiki-taka their way, doesn’t matter. McInnes, Levein, Wright… whoever. Issue with Davidson was he shitfested us to constant losses. Issue with Maclean was he promised this fancy entertaining football, and couldn’t deliver wins (regardless of style). Take me back to a season of Tommy Wright shitfesting 1-0 or 2-1 wins with none of this philosophy pish. The philosophy was doing whatever was needed for a result.

Think everyone’s been aware for a while now that Crawford and MacPherson would be here until the end of contracts. Crawford particularly not keen to move on whilst he’s on a big wage here. More likely perhaps that we may see James Brown, May, Turner-Cooke etc moving on/returning to their parent club. Would suggest there would be a low end Prem/high end championship willing to take a chance on either of the first two.

Interesting read from Levein, it’s feels good again to have a manager just saying sensible things that all the supporters also think and agree with, been a few years since it’s been like this. Shall be interesting to get some feedback from what him and Kirk say tonight at the supporters meeting if anyone on here is going!
